Archie
Dog - Boxer/Bulldog, American
S*x : Male
Age : 5M / 3W
Crate Trained, Good With Dogs, Good With Kids, Owner Experience

Archie is super sweet, with a strong personality. He enjoys snuggling and is good with kids. Would be ideal for him to be a only dog. Very food motivated and again SUPER SNUGGLY!

He is food/treat motivates which makes him easy to train. He is good with kids, dogs, and cats though he does like to chase them to play. He sleeps in a crate no problem but still working on potty training.

He needs a strong/knowledgeable owner that will keep up with training.

Archie is being fostered by staff at our Stonehenge store and is available through Freedom Ride Rescue.

Are you ready for a whole herd of guinea pig fun? Do you have plenty of leafy greens and veggies to share every day? Well if so, you're in the right place because Simon, Gusgus, Broski, and Scamp are looking for their new home! These boys are handsome, young piggies who have been wonderfully cared for their whole lives. Their previous mom found herself in the midst of some big changes and was no longer able to provide these guys with the time they needed so here they are, ready to start the next adventure.

Scamp, Gusgus, and Broski lived with their previous mom's friend when they were babies. Their previous mom took them in when her friend could no longer care for the trio and she introduced them to Simon. Broski is probably the most fly-under-the-radar guy of the bunch. He doesn't make waves and is content with letting his brothers rush around and check things out. Make no mistake though, when it's salad time, he will be jockeying for his spot to get the best greens! He is pretty adventurous with trying different veggies and he loves oregano and mint! He isn't really into being picked up but tolerates it alright when needed.

All four boys LOVE their daily salad and eat nearly anything offered with gusto. Red bell pepper and parsley seem to be the favorites but if it's edible, they aren't complaining! They eat their hay and pellets well also.

This herd of boys has lived together for over a year so we are looking for a home for them all together. If you are a guinea pig person who has room for these four boys, contact the rescue to start the adoption process!

Simon, Scamp, Broski, and Gusgus live at our Stonehenge store and are available through Velvet Acres Animal Rescue.

He is the one that enjoys being held the most but he still prefers being on the ground and will squeal dramatically when you pick him up. He really enjoys having his neck rubbed once he is in your lap though! He will sit for a little bit and enjoy the attention but soon he's ready to be on the move again to see what he can check out.

He is all about the treats and food though and will stand up on the side of the enclosure to see what you have for him! He will check out everything that is going in the the enclosure during cleaning, including hopping in the tub where all their old hay goes! One of his favorite spots to sit is INSIDE their big hay rack and he is often found nestled in and munching away on all the hay he could want. He will stop at nothing to get their hidey hut into position so he can climb it and jump into his favorite spot!

Meet River! This happy, s***ky girl is ready to liven up your life and be your best friend, and that's really all she wants in life. River is one of the happiest dogs you'll meet. She thinks the world is her personal fan club and she absolutely MUST say hello to everyone out there. Person, dog, it really doesn't matter to her, everyone is wonderful and everyone deserves her attention, right now!

River's biggest challenge is doing anything slowly. Since everything is so exciting she is always ready to go and is very exuberant in everything she does. She is still a puppy so some of that is to be expected but her personality adds a whole other layer! She knows how to sit and is working on down, stay, come, and walking nicely on leash without pulling. That last one is the hardest thing for her since she also loves smells and will zip and zoom around following whatever her nose can find. She is crate trained as well.

River has seen cats regularly but is a little too focused on them for introductions to be attempted yet. She plays with multiple dogs in her foster home, ranging in sizes from 25-70lbs. She has a pretty typical puppy play style though she is very respectful. If she gets no response from the other dogs, she is happy to run off and play by herself or start sniffing alongside them quietly.

The ideal home for River is one that has plenty of time for her energy level! Whether that means going to doggy day care, or another playful dog in the home, or someone who loves to take long walks/hikes, this girl needs a way to use up that energy! Her new family also needs plenty of patience and commitment to keep working on training with her so that she grows up to be a well adjusted doggy member of society.

Ask to meet River ASAP! This sweetheart is not going to be available for long and she is going to make an AMAZING family member!

River is being fostered by a staff member at our Stonehenge store and is available through Velvet Acres Animal Rescue.

Annie
Est DOB: 1/28/09
Domestic short hair

Annie is the sweetest lady who would like you to know that age is just a number! She may be considered a senior, but she still has plenty of s***k and has only gotten finer with age. She is such a love bug and will rub her face all over you any time she can. She purrs up a storm and will even happy-drool when she gets really into pets. If you try to stop petting her before she is done, she will reach out and grab your hand so that you keep going!

Annie was taken in by a good samaritan who thinks that their neighbor left her behind when they moved. She did live outside for a portion of her life. Her guardian angel took her to the vet to get healthy but she couldn’t keep her forever. Annie went to the Wake County shelter where we pulled her into the rescue right before her time ran out.

This pretty girl hasn’t had the easiest life. X-rays of a bump above her tail and a twisted leg showed that she was probably hit by a car at some point but never received any medical care for the injuries-a dislocated ankle and a couple broken vertebrae right above her tail. It was obvious that the injured leg caused her pain and she would often hobble on it or hold it up as she moved around. It was amputated and now there is nothing holding her back! If that wasn’t enough, Annie also is deaf and has FIV. FIV is an immune mediated illness that doesn’t affect her quality of life. If she gets sick, it takes a bit longer to go away and she will probably need a little help to get over it. Cats with FIV can live with other cats, (positive and negative) provided safe and slow introductions are done to minimize risk of fighting. Ask us if you’d like to know more!

Annie is plenty ready to find her perfect match and live out her golden years with her best friend. She would love a lap, a bed in the sun, and some peace and quiet where she can be treated like the queen she is. If Annie sounds like the one for you, contact us today!

Annie is available through Velvet Acres Animal Rescue and is being fostered by a staff member at our Stonehenge location.

Majestic
Female
Est DOB: 10/2/06
Domestic short hair, black

Majestic definitely describes this beautiful, sophisticated house panther! She has wonderful, soft fur and one of the loudest purrs you’ll hear. Majestic joined us some time ago from the Wake County animal shelter (though we did get to speak with her owner a bit before then) and was pulled along with her housemate who unfortunately passed away very unexpectedly after only a couple weeks in foster care. Majestic has been working on making sure she is the healthiest she can be and wonderfully, she has no major health issues!

As a senior, she still has s***k but Majestic does prefer the quieter life. She loves to curl up in a comfy spot and nap away. Everything she does is at her own pace and that’s a leisurely stroll. After her housemate passed, Majestic has been able to spend time with other cats (mainly kittens and young cats) and does well though she does get grumpy when they play too rough or try to keep playing with her after she is done! She loves people and will rub her face all over ankles, hands, whatever is closest, purring the whole time. She’s even been known to happy-drool when her foster mom finds the perfect spot to rub on her neck! Majestic would love to have her own home again, with people who can love and spoil her like she deserves for the rest of her golden years. Is she the one for you?

Majestic is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and tested negative for FIV/FeLV.

Majestic is available through Velvet Acres Animal Rescue and is being fostered by a staff member at our Stonehenge location.

Meet Ginny and be prepared for surprises! Shy and reserved at first but, trust us, this girl is as goofy and playful as puppies come. We don't know her full story but it is clear that she will need lots of love and patience in her new home until she knows she can trust you to accept all of her silly ways. She is about 35lbs, approximately 6 mos old, and is one gorgeous lady! Ginny and her sister, Hermione, came to the rescue from the Columbus County animal shelter where they were surrendered by their previous owner. Nothing is known about their life before the shelter, though they are very shy and reserved when it comes to anything new so they probably didn’t get much exposure to the outside world.

Ginny is fully crate trained and polite in the house. She is patient with ear cleaning/nail trimming/baths and will sit quietly for all of those. Ginny is an enthusiastic player, both with other dogs and with toys on her own. She LOVES other dogs and would enjoy a canine brother or sister at her new home. She is a very rough and tumble player, using her mouth and wrestling, and can be overwhelming for a dog who doesn’t enjoy playing like that. Other dogs are also a good way for her to continue learning about appropriate reactions to things she isn’t sure about so a confident and well adjusted doggy sibling would be great! She has no experience with cats but has shown no prey drive with birds or squirrels, or her foster family's guinea pig. Her biggest desire is to play all day with a few naps on a comfy couch and some chewy bones to break in these new adult teeth. And treats & snuggles, please don't forget those!

She will follow her foster brother on a walk, but is very cautious of moving cars and unknown people. A clean, fenced yard is a plus because she is learning to use a pet door and enjoys naps in the sunshine! She thinks little kids are kinda loud and best to run away from but older kids are fine. Ginny’s ideal home will be prepared to do plenty of positive reinforcement training and confidence building with her to make sure she continues the progress she’s made in her foster home and becomes the best girl she can be!

She has ALL the makings to be an amazing companion! We love our Ginny girl! We know you will too!

Ginny is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. She is available through Velvet Acres Animal Rescue and is being fostered by a staff member at our Stonehenge location.

Hermione
Female
Est DOB: 11/22/20
Current weight: ~29lbs

Now that her adorable face got your attention, meet Hermione! This petite little lady is ready to find her perfect match. Hermione and her sister, Ginny, came to the rescue from the Columbus County animal shelter where they were surrendered by their previous owner. Nothing is known about their life before the shelter, though they are very shy and reserved when it comes to anything new so they probably didn’t get much exposure to the outside world. Hermione’s new family will need to be understanding and patient, willing to accept that she needs time to adjust to new things without pushing her too fast.

Hermione is crate trained and hasn’t had an accident since she joined us! She knows the routine in her foster home and will readily remind her foster mom when it’s time to go out or time to eat. She recently found her voice and is very deliberate about when she speaks up. Hermione has interacted with several other dogs in her foster home, both larger and smaller than her. She is a bit shy when first meeting them but quickly finds her puppy energy and starts trying to get them to play. Hermy is VERY puppy in her play style! She can be a bit rough but responds well to being told off by other dogs when she gets to be too much. She likes to wrestle and jump around with little bouts of chase and chew on one another’s faces. She doesn’t sit still for long and will race from dog to dog until she finds one who will play with her. Other dogs have been very helpful in helping Hermy to overcome her nervousness with people and a confident, well adjusted doggy sibling in her new home could be a great match! Hermy has also been around cats and is interested but runs away as soon they hiss or swat at her.

Training is a work in progress, though Hermy is very smart! Her foster home has mainly been working on teaching her to be a normal dog and building her confidence so she doesn’t know any formal cues yet. She is very treat motivated though so once she is truly comfortable, she will likely learn quickly! She loves to chew and yak milk “bones” are her favorite right now. Hermy can’t wait to find her perfect match and start learning more about the world with them!

Hermione is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines. She is available through Velvet Acres Animal Rescue and is being fostered by staff at our Stonehenge location.

Cookie
Female
Est DOB: 11/15/19
Current weight: ~20lbs

Who loves cookies?? Everyone of course! This Cookie is ready to find the people who will love her unique blend of sugar and spice, and boy does she have both. Cookie came to us after a good samaritan found her as a stray. No one ever came to find her, even though she was obviously well cared for, so she joined us in the search for her perfect match!

People are probably Cookie's favorite thing ever. She loves receiving attention and being pet. Treats can also be good but she will often choose a face and neck rub instead if the treats aren't up to her standards. While she is crate trained, she definitely prefers to be with her people and will make her opinion known. She is ready to be your best friend and constant companion. Out on walks, Cookie will protect you from every possible threat and in her mind, they are everywhere! She does need to work on her threat assessment skills and building confidence so that she doesn't see so many things as a threat. That is something that has been started on with her foster home in the way of confidence building games and other easy exercises. Cookie looks forward to continuing this work with her new family and definitely needs someone willing to put in the effort to help her with this.

Cookie is definitely a young dog, estimated around a year and a half old. She is extremely high energy and will need someone with the time and energy to help her wear herself out in an appropriate way. This could mean long walks or a run, hiking, or another dog to have playtime. After plenty of time to get used to them safely, she has done well with the dogs in her foster home, all larger than her. She is a very fast player, preferring to chase and be chased, and boy is she fast! She does not like rough play (at least not with the big dogs) and gets uncomfortable with other dogs shoving and trying to wrestle with her. She will try and lead them on a chase to get out of the situation as soon as she can. While she has the ability to do well with appropriately matched dogs, this little lady has an exceptionally high prey drive and is not suited to a home with cats or other small animals.

Cookie has started on vaccines and will be spayed before being adopted. She is available through Velvet Acres Animal Rescue and is being fostered by staff at out Stonehenge location.
