Shelter Dog Advocate Hi! I'm Michelle, & I'm an advocate for longer stay dogs in the Austin Metro area.

I created this page so that advocates in any shelter can highlight a shelter dog that they've fallen head over heels for, but the dogs just can't find their forever home.

‼️HOGAN UPDATE!! ATX AREA FOSTER NEEDED 🙏🏻 Please read and share!!!‼️

Late last night, we received the incredible news that our new friends at are going to accept Hogan on a VERY temporary basis to keep him safe. 🙌🏼 The best thing we can do to thank them is get our boy a safe place to land in or around ATX ASAP, so here’s what he needs:

🙏🏻female only foster home or one with a calm, gentle, patient male figure
🙏🏻adults only
🙏🏻another calm dog ok - MUST be able to fully separate at first so he can decompress
🙏🏻austin or nearby since we will be sponsoring a training session for him to help with some of his fears

⚠️IMPORTANT: even if you are gone or busy during the holidays, let us know and we will try to work with your schedule.⚠️

Francis is a 5.5 year old male rottie mix at the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter in Georgetown, TX. Francis will need a special, patient adopter (or foster).

Introducing Francis. He's a hidden gem, and his former foster wants you to know all about him. Francis did great in the home with cats and other dogs. He is reported to be house-trained and learned the dog door in just an hour! Fancy that! 😉 Francis can be a little on the shy side and he needs someone to be patient with him while he figures out that he is safe in his new home. Once he has learned that he's safe, he wants to be wherever his person is - if you've ever heard of a Velcro dog, then you know what we're talking about. Yogi is a 2 year old male at the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter in Georgetown, Texas (just north of Austin in Central Texas). His notes say he's friendly with all ages, has lived with 2 other dogs (a fellow rottie and a small dog), high energy, loves walks, and loves water. He hasn't interacted with cats. The shelter is at critical capacity. Please adopt him so I'm not tempted to. 🙂

4 year old Dallas is at Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter in Georgetown, Texas. Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter is at "extreme" capacity. Last month, they ran out of room.

Dallas arrived at the shelter 8 days ago and is slowly decompressing based on vet tech notes - sweet but scared (understandable), was able to slip leash.

I have more connections with this shelter and can get rescues in touch with appropriate staff as needed.

Austin Animal Center is filled to the brim and are crating dogs in their conference room and cat building. The next step is to house crated dogs outside in front of evaporation coolers. While on the hunt for a possible foster on their website, I noticed a doberman is available for adoption or foster. A doberman is not a good fit typically for one of my current dogs.

I'm positive, though, you can fix his sad heart by adopting this 4.5 year young Rottweiler. Update (7/11): Adopted! Like big, Goofy, fun-loving, wrinkly dogs? Yes? Then guess what!?!? I got the pup for you - BRUTUS! Brutus is the life of the party, and I hear he's the life of the party even when nobody is there. 😂 Go visit him at Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter, you won't stop laughing with this class clown. (And if you didn't realize it, Brutus is the bulldog.) Due to the 4th of July, the Shelter will be closing at 4pm, but they're back at regular hours on Friday.
