Iggy was abandoned alone in a house when his owners took off after a domestic dispute. Iggy was found by the police more than a week later, emaciated with no food or water for days. Iggy’s body was so broken down when he was found and he fought for his life for several weeks, with his body struggling to function normally. He is now finally neutered and vaccinated and holding up much better. However, Iggy will need close monitoring of his blood levels (every 3 months) to ensure he stays in tip-top shape. Iggy is a wonderfully loving dog who would do best in a home with lots of loving humans but no other animals. Puppies and kittens tend to poop a lot and they don't always know where the right place is - especially if they are caged the entire time and aren't allowed a lot of time to learn much from their mama. Just like human babies, they need help and time to get their potty training right. Bluey's first owners bought him and then gave him up because he "pooped and made a mess". He was rescued before he ended up going into a second home that didn't truly care for him. He was vaccinated and placed in a new home with a family that understood what it takes to bring up a puppy and loves him so much already. Mavis is improving slowly at the hospital. Her food has to be kept bland for now due to diarrhoea, likely from trying to eat whatever she could find when she was abandoned and staving on the road. Mavis is a very quiet dog who shows no reactions to anything. She just observes even if it's her own legs being bandaged. No growls, no wags, no barks. Sadly, it looks like she has been neglected and has been starved for a long time and has shut down, but hopefully, this will change in the future, and we will be able to make her little tail wag again. Visiting and interacting with our rescues is essential for their healing and socialization. Annie was the most distant, frightened dog when she was first rescued, often pasting herself to the hospital walls. Seeing her reaction now, especially when she realizes the treats (and us) have come for a visit is just priceless! Marvel is already doing so well and improving! He still holds on to some of his trauma which comes out particularly when he is handled by men, however we feel he would do best healing in a permanent home environment if anyone out there would be willing to give him a loving forever home. Marvel is still on medication for tick fever, but it's not something he needs to be in hospital for. We will follow up and get him neutered when he is older, but for now, a happy, calm home able to give him love and patience with extra female energy, if possible, would be just what he needs. Marvel is still nervous around men, but the vet hospital and our own team are full of women in various roles. From reception to nurses to vets to cleaners to professional biscuit dispensers, Marvel is getting round the clock care and love from the many lovely women in his new life. We have male staff bring Marvel food, however, so we can start to create some positive association with men from now on. It will take time, but Marvel will slowly heal and hopefully go on to live and enjoy a full life a world away from his horrific past 💜 Please do consider donating if you would like to help. Annie playing in hospital 🩵🩵 she came to us as a cowering, trembling pup unable to move an inch without peeing herself. Healing their body is only half the battle with a rescue. Healing their scared, traumatised minds is sometimes harder. It takes care, freedom and a whole lot of love to get them to this. Iggy is getting a little stronger every day 💜💜 but it has taken an enormous amount of work and funds to get him to this level. After being left for over a week alone with no food or water, Iggy was on the brink of death when he came to us. We have never seen a dog with blood levels so low, but he has somehow managed to bounce back to this. After handfeeding him every two hours, so many supplements, roast chicken, carrying him back and forth to the garden - he is up and crazy for treats. We don't always get to post these often because we don't have a film crew or usually even a second person there to help. Astrid has put on weight, and her blood work has improved in hospital 💜 Her rash still needs a lot of work, which we prefer to heal slowly and gently. Her infection levels are settling and her skin is no longer bleeding all over. She is also far more relaxed with the extra space, choosing to lounge in the garden and scratch at roots and rocks as long as she is allowed.
