*Update on Oscar*

Oscar is a goldie cross who was found on the street with seizures and was barely able to stand up.

It has taken us months and months to get his bloods up, get him neutered and healthy. He still has the occasional seizure, but it is controlled with daily medication.

Oscar is a great doggo, good with people and with other dogs. When we first rescued him, he was hospitalised and spent his time wailing and crying. We realised that he is the kind of dog who loves being around people and unsuited to living in the hospital. For this reasons Oscar was boarded in a place with a family to keep him emotionally stable and happy. And it worked! He is now a happy, well-adjusted boy and looking for a forever home.

As we continue our animal welfare work in Sri Lanka - we need to start seeing animals as individuals with their own likes and needs. We recognise that it is a privilege to be able to help these animals and that our usual procedures may not suit every animal, so where possible we try to listen to them and help their minds as much as we heal their bodies.

We are learning as we go but determined to do better with each rescue. We thank you for helping us help dogs like Oscar 💚 its just one dog, but it's made a world of difference to him 😀💚💛

*Update on Ronnie*

One of our beautiful senior rescues who never found a forever home, Ronnie has now been in boarding for a long time, and he is starting to really slow down.

While it's not the forever home we dreamt of for Ronnie, he has settled into the boarding and roams free all day. He is fed and loved, and we ensure he gets the vet care he needs.

There is such a reluctance in Sri Lanka and most other places to adopt large senior rescue dogs. Many live their days out in shelters, sad and confused.

Ronnie spent his entire life in a cage on the side of a busy road before he was rescued. Thankfully, at the boarding, he is in a place with access to a garden, other dogs he is now friends with and freedom 💚 This is probably where he will live out the rest of his days as moving him now would only confuse him further.

We pay the boarding monthly to ensure he is cared for - if there is anyone or several people who would be willing to help sponsor Ronnie, it would be so appreciated 🙏🏾💚 please reach out to us if there is anyone interested in helping him.

Bruno got to the hospital but didn't even manage to make it 5 mins in hospital. He was covered in fleas and barely breathing when he arrived. His heart stopped, and he could not be resuscitated 😞

Breed dogs in Sri Lanka frequently meet this end. They are kept in homes and loved at the start when they are pups, when they are useful - the moment families have other plans like going overseas or the dog gets sick, the people stop caring. The animals get weaker and weaker unseen by anyone but the owners, and then they get dumped. Their conditions then worsen, and the suffering is often so extreme.

Part of the reason we push to get to these dogs quickly is this - because we know they can't hold on longer than they already have .

Today, we did everything right, we got space at the best possible emergency care facility, and everyone was informed and ready, we got transport out to him almost immediately. We did everything right, and we still lost him.

Go over the rainbow bridge, sweet boy, those who should have loved you most betrayed you, the temple who accepted the doggo and then didn't get him any help for days and days failed you. Run free now, Bruno. At least you are no longer in pain.

*Emergency Rescue*

This poor soul is currently being rushed into critical care now. He was left at a temple by his owners some time ago. He has fallen ill with no proper care and then also been hit by a vehicle at the temple and left without treatment for over 3 days. He is in very critical condition, and we dont know if he will make it, but we will try.

We organised a space and rushed to pick him up as he was not eating or drinking and groaning in pain.

We have SO many rescues with us at the moment and need funds to keep helping animals like this who need urgent care. If you can donate anything towards this poor doggos care, we would so appreciate it.

Remember Melvin, who was dumped at the Ragama Hospital? Look at him now!!

It's taken an age to put a smile on this little guys face. Melvin's wounds have finally begun to heal, and his skin is also improving slowly.

Melvin is an older dog who was found with a huge gaping wound on his back. Getting the infection and pain under control and balancing his kidney counts took a while, but we're finally getting things regulated.

We have not been fundraising as consistently as we should when considering the number of dogs who are in our care receiving treatment.

If you can donate anything towards the care of these animals so they can complete their treatment safely and find forever homes, we would be so grateful. We owe our hospitals a lot and are struggling to catch up on bills. Any amount would truly help us continue doing this work.

Rupertine, our senior rescue, will be going into surgery shortly to get multiple tumours removed. We hoped we would not have to do this due to her age, but unfortunately, we can't wait any longer as her situation gets more complicated the longer we wait.

Rupa was found abandoned on the road a month ago. She is a very senior dog with several tumours along her abdomen. She shows signs of having been bred multiple times and seems to sadly have been dumped as she was probably no longer of any use to her owners.

Rupa is very loved and a sweet little dog that has endured so much already. We really hope she will make it through surgery and be able to see what life can be like where she is loved.

We are very short of funds and need to help to ensure she and our other rescues get the care and attention they need. Please, if you are able to donate anything at all, it would help so much.

Astrid is being returned after a one-off incident that happened during a moment of confusion in her home. She isn’t a biting dog and has never shown aggression before this — even when she was unwell and in pain.

We understand it can be daunting for some owners when this happens and because we want both the dogs and their homes to be happy and see each-other as family, we are urgently searching for a safe, loving home where she’ll be understood and given the second chance she deserves.

She’s is not okay with other dogs or cats, so it is essential that she go to a home with NO other pets to avoid any need for her to be moved ever again.

Experience with large breeds is important as Astrid will need some guidance and patience to adjust and stay happy. Astrid has so much love to give — could you be her fresh start?

Please call on 0717204215 or 0772438249 if you’d like to adopt Astrid.

He’s sweet, affectionate, and so eager to be loved by a family he can call his own. But sadly, he keeps getting overlooked.

He does not get along with other animals but is extremely affectionate around people.

✅ Loyal & loving
✅ Must be an only pet
✅ Requires space and a family that has experience with large dogs

Gertrude needs a good home urgently!!

She has been in foster care for a long time now and her caretaker leaves in two weeks, so a home needs to be found for her within the next 10 days.

Gertrude is a sweet 2 year old american bully who was rescued about 6 months ago.

She is an incredible dog, sweet, loving and smart. While she has adjusted well, she doesn’t mix well in a home with 25 dogs which is where she is currently in foster care.

While she is good with dogs and cats she would most suit a home with calm older pets and a family that can give her love and attention. She spends a lot of her day alone at the moment and that is heartbreaking for such a young, happy, loving dog. She is absolutely no trouble but truly deserves a home where she can get more love and attention.

✅Vaccinated and Neutered

❗️Gertrude is losing her eyesight very very slowly, but is perfectly able and independent and this will in no way hinder her ability to love her family and run and play.

If you can offer Gertrude a safe and loving home, please reach out on 077 243 8249 or 071 720 4215. 🐾
