For many people, pets help to make us feel more fulfilled in our lives. They support us when we're down, and give us things to look forward to. We're often asked how we can let our foster dogs go to new homes, and the answer is, while it can be painful to say goodbye to them, we know that we can make a difference for pets and people alike!

Lexie is a sweet pup looking for an amazing home! She fell on some hard times after being surrendered to the shelter following health issues in her family leaving them unable to care for her. Lexie is good in the home. She is fully crate trained, and working hard at mastering leash walking. Lexie would do great in a home with another dog who likes to play.

One of our adopters reported that their adopted dog got out of their fence today after a tree fell during the storm. Bolt is missing from Randleman NC. It's very easy to want all of our dogs to be friends with everyone they meet. But just like people, some dogs are social butterflies, some prefer their solitude, and everywhere in between! While many dogs like friends, some prefer to be the only dog in the home, or just to have a select couple of buddies. And that's ok! Your dog is perfect just the way they are.

🟥 Unclaimed animals past the stray hold period can be: adopted out, sent to rescues, held or euthanized.

🟥 The Standard Stray Hold Period (the time you legally have to
reclaim your pet before they are owned by the county): 72 hours if no collar/microchip and 120 hours if there is a collar/microchip.

Go to the shelter immediately if they are open (see hours below). If the shelter is closed, call the shelter and leave a detailed message - but go to the shelter as soon as they are open to reclaim your pet.

** Take proof of ownership like vet records, several pictures of your pet, last rabies vaccine certificate and cash or credit card to pay reclaim fees **
