Little Kings Buck Echo 06/01/90 - 12/27/23
33 years is a long time to be famous for trotting above level and flagging your tail, tossing your head, snorting and being bigger in might than any other horse in the world ~ all at 28.25" tall!
The Echo Attitude was the Real Deal! If you were there, you know exactly why he won that year! ECHO. ECHO. ECHO the crowd roared as he trotted around the ring. Never has there been a crowd so involved in a final class that I ever witnessed. 1994 was one of the best years of the miniature horse industry- a record was set- and has YET to be beat! To my knowledge, Echo to date was the smallest miniature stallion to win AMHA World Grand Champion Senior Stallion. But, that is not the only reason Echo was famous- he was small, but consistent! Echo's titles started as a foal and continued on every year after by winning classes himself, being part of the Get of Sire World Champs- 3 times, Produce of Dam World Champs- 3 times, and Sire of many world champion get and grand-get in halter, driving, and versatility too!
The greatest thing about Echo was his uncanny ability to pass his attitude on to his foals. They ALL had the Echo Attitude! You could simply walk into a field of horses and immediately pick out the Echo foals by their show off personalities, big trots and commanding presence- even as they aged.
Echo was one of the first Stallions to be Syndicated in the Industry. It is a sad day for us all- he brought so many people together all with the same goals and purpose. We just loved our little buckskin show off!
We are now at the end of the book that Marianne started back in 1976. The farm that once managed over 500 head of World Champions, National Champions and Congress Champion Miniature horses and Shetlands is now empty. Echo was the last Little King horse to graze on the pastures that created them.
The heavens are getting a big show today by one tiny little stud and I guarantee there are 2 old men up there just laughing it up!
Please feel free share any thoughts, memories, get or grand-get of Echo, we would love to reminisce the good old days!
