Finally home from the first camping trip of the year. Creed and Brisby went with me. Brisby is a pro, and this was Creed’s first trip.

He enjoyed the morning nature walks, all the water, and all the snacks. The dogs stay in the camper when we ride and there is nothing worse than a dog that barks the whole time you’re gone - not a peep from Creed. Not even when he heard us come back into camp. He would wait patiently while we tended to horses for his turn.

He was good with kids and new people and did pretty good with other dogs. He is 6 mo old and still learning what is acceptable play with dogs we don’t know. We will get there.

Overall, no qualms.
I think I will take him along for the next trip as well. 🐾

Bit of a program update:

1). Still no puppies until fall. The absolute earliest would be a September born litter pending heat cycles and some other things I have going on.

2). Pups offered on full rights will be limited and with a slightly different process. All puppies will go to their new homes on limited registration when they leave my home. Transfer to full rights registration will happen at 2 years of age with proof of completed health testing, current vaccines, and temperament testing.

I don’t let many go on full rights currently, but these changes are in an effort to mitigate people breeding a dog from my program before they are old enough to complete health clearances.

This also allows me to build a a relationship with those looking to use a dog from my program in their own.

And most importantly, it lessens the risk for the new family. You aren’t tied into a puppy having paid for full registration just to have the dog get to be 2 years old and not be a good candidate for breeding for whatever reason.
And if that scenario ever did happen, returning the dog to me is always an option.

With that said, if you have submitted an application and indicated you want full rights or you were considering it in the future - full rights are still available but we need to have a conversation about what that looks like.

Website will be updated in the next few days.

May ruffle some feathers with this post, but 🤷🏻‍♀️.

I have received an increasing number of messages and emails from people looking to breed their females.

First and foremost - I am not a gatekeeper. You want to get into dog breeding and do it the RIGHT way for the RIGHT reasons, I’m all for it.
Welcome to the chaos.
Please enjoy the ride.

If you’re doing it because you love your female and want one her of puppies or think it’s a way to generate a quick buck… please don’t waste my time.

I do stand my stud dogs to outside females. But I have requirements. Because anything that I am going to put my name on is going to meet my standards. Period.

Females must be AKC or ASDR registered.
Females must have genetic panel testing done.
Females must have BAER hearing testing done.
Females must have OFA scores on elbows.
Females must have OFA or PennHip scores on hips.
Females must be tested for Brucellosis and Canine Herpes Virus.
You must provide adequate photos and temperament eval of the female.
At. A. Minimum.

You cannot imagine the number of people who simply ask “how much is the stud fee” and when I respond asking for the above information… 🦗🦗🦗

The time, facilities, and money that raising puppies the right way takes is not for the faint of heart.
It is EXPENSIVE. I’m happy to show you my records. 😳
It takes a piece of your soul.
And you better damn well be prepared to loose that momma dog.
You also better be able to accept that females are never the same after they have a litter. They change.
You also best be prepared to take every single one of those puppies back at 6 months old if the home doesn’t work out.

So anyways.
You bet. I’m happy to discuss a potential breeding.
But please either be prepared, or willing to learn and complete the necessary steps.

Cue awkward teenager phase. 🤣

4 months old.
Doesn’t quite look like a baby anymore. Still waiting on those ears. 🤣
Has a pretty solid recall. Sit. Down. Stay. Here.
Doing well on leash around the livestock.
SMART dog. Wants to please. Plenty of bite.
Looking forward to getting him out on some camp trips this year.

Sneak peek for Emily of 6 month old Australian Cattle Dog, Roux!

Emily says, “I'm the guardian of Roux, which means I'm sharing her with her Breeder, Lindsay at Twisted L Cattle Dogs in Stanley, Iowa.

Roux is a special pup for all of us, her call name ‘Roux’ means a blend of red and browns, and her registered name is ‘Twisted L's Something in the Orange,’ these names worked together perfectly, reminding us that even though 2023 was an extremely challenging year for so many of us, that there's hope, and fresh chances out there. Now Roux herself is my rhinestone wearing, glitter covered, football player. She's glitz and glamor, and a brute who can't stay out of the water. I can't wait to see what she grows into!”

Show some love to this beautiful, fun girl!😍

Pictured is an exhausted Creed. 🤣

We spent ALL weekend outside.
And for as much time that he spends on a leash learning manners. He spends just as much time off leash just being a dog.

So here’s my plug for unstructured play time.
Wear those puppies out. 🖤

Been a bit MIA over here.
We’ve had a couple family deaths and I was down for a whole week with influenza B.

But Creed goes for his third round of puppy shots this weekend and has been spending time being my copilot.
He rides well.
He happily greets new people.
He will lay down while tied when we are working with horses.

Four months old this month.
Ears still not all the way up.
Haven’t weighed him but he’s probably pushing 25-30lbs.

27/02/2024

I do NOT have pups available currently.
My next litter will be sometime this fall.
Pricing and application information can be found on my website. If you do not fill out an application, you are not on the wait list.

I muted because of all the background noise, please ignore my messy ass house, and the fact that I look like a scrub. 🤣 I would never go out dressed like this but apparently I’ll post a video to my very public business page. 😅 All just part of my chaos. 💁🏻‍♀️

Anyway, Creed - 13 weeks

Focus has been on sit/lie down without luring, stay for longer periods and without direct site, and apparently roll over. 🤣

I did a video prior to this one with Kirbee running around trying to get him to play, so also working on focusing on me with distractions present. He did pretty good. Kids are good for something. 🙈

Simon got mail today! He & Emily have been busy! 🫶🏼

Above all, I strive to produce a dog that people can enjoy!

I strive for structural soundness, but truthfully don’t mind if my dogs never make it a conformation show ring.

Trick titles.
Obedience titles.
Rally titles.
FastCat titles.
Nose-work titles
Herding titles.
Physically working livestock on farm.
House dingoes who double as hiking buddies.
>> Those are the things that matter to me.

Things that show their intelligence, biddability, endurance, loyalty, and physical ability.
Because fewer and fewer people actually have the need to work these dogs on livestock, they have to be able to adapt!

That is also why I don’t offer you the first puppy I have available. The pairings that I have all have something just a little different to offer and I want to make sure we get the right dog with the right family.

If you ever want to chat about what we have to offer, you can find my contact information on the website!

No puppies this spring / summer, but we will have 1-2 litters this fall! I know the wait is hard, but I’m hoping to have some exciting updates to share with you all that are long overdue!

Creed, 11 weeks.

We’ve maintained this week and are just focusing on surviving. Sick kids and about everything else that can cause me stress, has.

Focused on better sits, downs, here’s, and touches.

He likes ground beef mixed in his puppy kibble.
If you don’t want it chewed on, don’t leave it on the floor.
Mud. Monster.
Ears still floppy.

What did your puppy learn this week?

Creed, 10 weeks.
Learned “touch!”

My trainer friends tell me this one is the foundation for a lot of other tricks and good for focus.

He is also learning how to take treats nicely and not eat my fingers in the process. 🦈

Don’t ask me why I insist on using a high pitched voice when I say “touch” 🙈

Puppies who relentlessly harass older dogs.

I thought I would address this topic because I am currently experiencing this with Creed.

Here is the link to the podcast:
https://www.podbean.com/ep/pb-qp3ws-155952c

I really do have an extremely tolerant group of dogs who do the best to constructively correct puppies, but Creed truly is relentless.

The older dogs are ALWAYS given an out.

Right now Creed is not allowed to be with the other dogs unless he is supervised and tethered. I use this 25ft biothane long line attached to his collar.

When he is being too much I offer a verbal correction first coupled with a treat, followed by a phsical correction with the line which is removal from that situation.

This is working well and he is catching on faster to that first verbal command.

I will try to get a video this weekend.

Potty Training!

There are multiple ways to handle potty training and this is just what works for us!

I usually tackle potty training in a couple ways:
1) We use this small crate at night. Creed sleeps right next to my bed. Our first night, he went out twice. Now, we head to bed about 10/11p and are up at 5a and he makes it through the night.
2) When we are home, Creed has free run of our kitchen area or is outside with us. It's easy to clean and there's not much he can destroy. We're always close to the door to go out for potty breaks.
3) I work during the week so we have a 5x5 kennel set up where he has a mat to sleep on and toys to play with. He is let out multiple times throughout the day and has been doing very well!

We offer food, as much as he wants to eat, morning and night. We don't restrict water during the day but do pull water around 8:00 every evening. We focus on reading his cues and take him out to potty often rewarding with belly rubs or treats.

I choose to ignore accidents. We clean them up and move on. We reward the behavior we want to see him continue.

I'm pleased with Creed's potty training at 9 weeks. Minimal accidents and really picking up on going outside despite the cold. He has not had a single accident in his crate.

I realize not everyone agrees with a crate, and that's ok.
However, this is not a point of discussion for me.
Crates are for the safety of my puppy, my kids, and my home.
Emergencies arise in which it is beneficial that the dogs know how to settle in a crate. It is beneficial during travel, which we do a lot of. That is why we use it as a training tool, and by no means do they spend excessive amounts of time crated.

Hooman, I require belly rubs at this exact moment. No. I do not care that you are trying to cook. -Creed
