I stopped by the Latin Farmers Market at Rockwood Park today. It was hot, but the people were out there.

A lot of vendors selling some really cool stuff: Hispanic food, homemade salsas, cupcakes, homemade bread, candy, healthy juice drinks, fruits/veggies, shirts, hats, coffee, etc.

Other vendors had custom made jewelry.

These Pop Up markets seem to be everywhere these days. I really enjoy seeing all the entrepreneurs and their ideas.

I did inquire the cost to become a vendor. This market is every Saturday. It is a $100 application fee. If you decide to set up 7 or more times, the fee is $35 each time. If you just want to give it a try it is $50.

Thoughts For Today:

I meet many business owners (entrepreneurs). I respect their courage to chase their dreams and ambitions. They spend most, if not all, of their time working, thinking, planning, networking, budgeting, etc. Plus, it is hard to sleep at night with all of these worries on your mind.

Starting your own business and relying on that business as your sole income is scary to say the least. A business owner has to pay everyone else first, and they only get paid with what money is left over after ALL of the bills are paid.

Most businesses take a few years to get off the ground. So the owner has to reinvest a LOT of the money back into the business to buy more equipment, advertising, hire more people, etc.

I am probably more nervous for the business owner when they tell me all the obstacles they are facing because I know firsthand how quickly things can crumble from experience.

My restaurant owner friends are really facing tough times these days. Costs continually are going up, and it is difficult to keep raising their prices without losing customers. If you read the news, you will see numerous major restaurant chains filing for bankruptcy.

So, I send out prayers to all those brave souls out here trying to make it day by day in business.

Happy Tails, Mary (now Mollee)! 🎉🐾

This sweet girl was one of more than 50 dogs saved last month in Arkansas after a rescue could no longer adequately care for the dogs they had taken in. BISSELL Pet Foundation's Animal Incident Management team jumped into action to find partners to take the dogs into their programs. We are so grateful for Little Traverse Bay Humane Society, who welcomed many of these dogs and have worked to find them loving homes.

It was about 3 years ago that we first spotted this pack roaming the streets. Never did I think catching them would consume my life for the next 2 months 🫣 or that some of them would never leave. But things rarely go to plan in rescue 🤷🏼‍♀️, so what is there to do except be grateful they are safe and fed and loved, and pretty happy doggos considering the life they had before we found them.

Congrats to 703 pets who were adopted from all 8 organizations during KC Mega Match this past weekend! A major shoutout to all of the staff and volunteers who worked so hard at ours and all organizations this weekend, and thank you to everyone who opened up your hearts and homes to a new pet!
