Go Charles! Getting stronger every week
Sometimes my manual therapy won’t work so gaining more mobility and comforts a good start
Go jet! You beautiful old man
Go Abby!!!
This sweet girl is Abby and she is having hydrotherapy to aid her recovery from cruciate surgery so she can get back to her very important role as a Disability Assistance Dog.
Abby is also having rehab therapy with Tui Pet Rehab to ensure she is in the best physical and functional condition for her lovely young owner.
Today we lost our mascot Mowgli. He was the most loyal, smart, intelligent kind dog. We are absolutely heartbroken, to say he will be missed is an understatement. Please give all my patients an extra cuddle for me today.
Go Jet! Very proud of you.
The money Yoga positions of being a rehab that I call this one lying laser. When your patient moves away but you have a couple seconds left!
And then some exercises so we get the treats!
Happy 4th Birthday Bam Bam! Thank you so much for the yummy treats today! You make us laugh every week!
Mum don’t wake me up I was enjoying my hip mobilisations!
This is the lovely Kina who is 18!!!!, diabetic and thanks to rehab - massage, laser and Solensia he is gaining back some mobility!
Rehab comes in all shapes and sizes! Cats too!! Three of my very goodest patients! Hazel, Nyla and Braxton. One of them does agility. Bet you won’t guess who??? 🤷♀️
Muzzle training!
Bam Bam is a lovely boy and loves people but when things are a little punchy his fuse is short and his teeth sharp. His mum has done an amazing job of making him comfortable wearing a muzzle so that his treatments can be completed safely.
Muzzles don’t have to have a negative connotation they can let us all feel safe and do our jobs thoroughly! Please don’t hesitate to teach your dog to wear one even if they aren’t reactive - pain and stress can mean they bite as it’s their only means of communication - any dog can bite, it doesn’t make them a bad dog.
Cats can enjoy rehab too! It sometimes takes a few sessions to get them used to it but Shaniqua was super relaxed on session 2. She only has three legs so through massage, stretching and laser we help relieve compensatory tightness through her lower back and support the remaining won’t limb so that she can still catch mice!
Hazel! You’re a very good girl!
It’s taken me nearly a week to write this because I wanted to find the right words, but the more I think about I’m not sure there are the right words. So here goes…..
As a rehab vet I get to sit down with my patients, get to know them, gain their trust. I love it - and me being me I usually fall head over heels in love with them. I feel like a part of their life, and even if they don’t like coming to the vet they usually enjoy rehab.
Willow was one of my first rehab patients. She started as a bilateral cruciate and graduated to FCE with paraparesis - needless to say she taught me heaps! She became one of my regulars who would “run” as best she could to my mats - She coined the term “may of happiness.” Willow was stubborn and unladylike and undeniably sweet. My heart breaks to not get to see her again and my thoughts and love go to her family at such a sad time.
Thank you for trusting me with her care. I will miss her so much. 💕
Working dogs are the best. Rest in Peace beautiful pup
Gotta get to the bottom!
