Jax, Piper and Raelynn - Pack Place Work
Just sharing this phenomenal video sent to me by my client Angela! We've been doing in-home sessions geared towards getting her pack back in order after their dynamic went awry a few months ago.
In this, you can see her returning for a walk with her pup, Raelynn, while her other two, Piper and Jax, maintain the place command that she put them in before she left.
Our biggest goal with training together has been proofing all manner of environmentals (such as: front door activity, other dogs in drive, heavy distraction, energy shifts between the pack and affectionate human house guests).
We want to bring control back to the owners, achieve higher relevancy in their dog's decision making and develop a calmer mindset, even in the face of change, for the pack.
All of that work in challenging situations is absolutely paying off, and makes every day scenarios, such as this one, easier to mitigate.
They've been putting in so much daily work, and I'm excited to see just how far everyone can go! Great job!!!
Group place work with Nugget, Bucky and Paisley at one of our sessions!
Rebuilding pack relationships by advocating for everyones personal boundaries and state of mind. Calm. Cool. Collected.
Great work ya'll!
Clients Nina and Austin doing some seriously awesome low level e-collar prompting work! They did a phenominal job sticking to their training every single week and building up to this level of obedience and communication! Practice makes perfect and they truly put in the work together!
Tapping in to your dog's instinctual drives, in a structured way, is beneficial to their overall well being. Sieva here is exhausted from working her prey drive using a flirt pole and using the "out" command after she caught the lure. The end result is a calm, tired, mentally stimulated dog. 🐾 #gadogtrainers #shepherdmix
In The Field: Pack Dynamics and Energy Control
Just a quick lesson on understanding a pack's dynamic, individual dog personalities and controlling the energy for the benefit of all!
A strong leader maintains their pack, keeps unbridled energy under wrap, corrects unwanted behaviors, encourages desirable ones and considers the needs of all dogs involved!
Q&A: What (not) to do when meeting new dogs
Q&A: What (not) to do when meeting new dogs.
It may hurt some feelings, but it has to be said.
Not all dogs like you.
Some may merely tollerate you.
If you're lucky, they may really love you!
Regardless, advocate for the safety and needs of a dog.
Respect dogs.
Respect dog owners.
And...
DON'T TOUCH THAT DOG!!!
(unless the owner says it's safe and okay, of course. :) )
Fantastic recall work from today with handsome labby boy Cooper and his wonderful owners Seth and Julie! 🐾 #labradorretriever #recalltraining #dogtraining
If you have a multi-dog pack, its important to involve the whole family in keeping relationships healthy between dog-mates! Check out Lisa and her son Kacey at our training session today. They worked together on structured walks with their pups Keena and Tikki, exemplifying great leadership skills as a team! Great job you two! 👏👏👏 #relationshipbuilding #packwork #dogtraining

Snippet from training with Annie Grace and Carolyn today. Just learning to coexist with the world. You wouldn't know it by looking at her, but there is a dog down the road, another barking in the distance, people leaving their cars and walking around. #calmunderpressure #rainorshine
In The Field - Aggression Rehab - Introduction to Other Dogs
Ever wonder what I do in my spare time? I work with community rescue groups and foster dogs!
Check out this time lapse video of work with my foster dog, Sieva, with You Lucky Dog Rescue.
Sieva came to me about 8 months ago with very severe dog aggression issues. We've been working ever since to fully rehabilitate her so she can one day find a loving home all of her own!
This was her first introduction to other dogs where she had limited freedom, without direct leash control. We utilized the "place" command to help her stay in a calm, relaxed state of mind while being surrounded by three other dogs. Give it a like for Sieva's hard work!
Weekend Workout: Targeting and Focus Commands for Better Concentration
The weekend is here! 🎉
What are you working on?
Our "weekend project" is with our foster dog Sieva. We're teaching her hand targeting and building up other commands like "watch me" in order to improve her concentration and focus amidst distractions!

Check out this phenominal work learning "place" with Lisa and Kara during our session yesterday! When I teach place during a session, we go over proofing tips, and ways to utilize distraction, duration and distance with this great command! Spent some time working with Rudder and Sarah today! Despite the overcast, blustery weather, the park was super active and filled with good smells, sounds, other dogs and people. We took advantage of the distractions to focus on leash handling and leadership in new situations and unpredictable environments! Check out how great they did! #labmix #dogtraining #leadership
