I just got notification of another award for Mr Mugatu. The first award was for our region. But it appears he is the best white Devon in all regions for 2024. Not too shabby for a last minute why not entry.

Just rubbing the salt in the wound further TICA.
He should have been named Kiva the Diva instead 🤦‍♀️

Only for him to turn into a dog on me 🤦‍♀️

Only for him to turn into a dog on me 🤦‍♀️

Putting the feelers out there now for a retired male.

I’m going to be retiring Mr.Mugatu early. I really never planned on keeping him back. Except, I was offered a ready to retire white male, and realized, uh.. I have a beautiful white male already. I figured I’d keep him until we knew if Jack was fertile. And Mugatu did stun me at the shows with how well he did, even over Jack! Just realistically, he’s related to too many girls, and I am working on something where he doesn’t quite fit the direction I want to go in.

During the move, we had to make a buddy system in the car. Mugatu was the odd cat out and hung out with the dogs, he always loved dogs and we didn’t want any oops litters so it worked out great. Except now, Mugatu thinks he is a dog and wants nothing to do with other cats. I wish I was joking because this is the most obnoxious thing I’ve ever had to deal with.

SO with all that said…. He will need a home as an only cat but needs a dog friend, or a few dog friends. We have Brussels Griffons so he prefers dogs his size. He doesn’t mind my Doberman, but he’s more attached to the smaller dogs. He chases them, they chase him. He sleeps with them, eats with them, has a fit if they are outside too long or crated, etc.

✨EAST COAST HOMES✨

I had a family reach out who is needing to rehome their two Devons from us. Just over a year old, so young girls. Their owner is looking for someone who can give them more time. They are currently located in CT, and to make it as less stressful as possible for these two, ideally someone in the east or willing to drive to get them would be the best option.

Please message me for more details on these two.

* I’m working with the family and going through messages a few at a time. So please hang tight if you don’t get a reply right away. I’m just getting back from the airport so I’m a bit slow today.

I finally have internet and access to my desktop! I will be updating my website after a long 11 months.

It's going to take me a few weeks to sort out what I did while trying to update things on my tablet. It appears I have deleted full pages on the back end. Not sure how I did that. And we are still in the process of unpacking. But soon enough, it will be updated.

I will probably have a few adults to retire this year as well for those who were interested prior. And in a few weeks I'll be posting the little babies we moved with. We are doing a sauce theme with this group. Thanks to the singleton Torti kicking things off as Sriracha. She's a spicy girl.

I’ve been sitting on this for awhile and had no intentions on saying anything. But given the recent issues and now that I am officially on the road I feel like I can and should finally say something.

The main reason for my move to not only to a different coast but a different country, was due to a safety issue involving my ex. I thought everything would have been fine, but unfortunately police had to be involved and that’s the moment I started to make plans. A little over a month ago I received messages from a fake account on here with some pretty insane things said against me and my safety. And from that interaction, I found out the charges finally caught up with him.

Now it could be completely coincidental. It could be a crazy anti breeder. The context seems a bit weird for one, but who knows.

However, for safety purposes, I’m going to continue to deny home visits for all, no exceptions. And I’m just going to mention a generalization for my area for now. Not to say someone trying to get a kitten from me is really him, it’s more a matter of my address or city getting leaked and voids the whole purpose of this move. We are all safe. I would like to keep it that way.

That said, yes, we are officially on the road on our way to the west coast. It’s a huge relief! For many different reasons obviously. But it’s still bitter sweet because I have enjoyed meeting so many of you. I’m sure I’ll see some again. But in case anyone was thinking my move seemed a bit strange, hopefully it makes a bit more sense now.

What a crazy day yesterday.
A house showing, then off to pick up our Doberman from the vets. She made it through surgery just fine, but unfortunately it wasn’t the greatest of results. We went in thinking she was getting two fatty tumors/lipomas removed. One, was a cyst. So I guess that’s good. The other, the outer shell was a lipoma, but the inner core was not. Talking with our vet about the matter, we learned us having it aspirated was probably the mistake. That tends to ‘poke the bear’ so to speak. I was told, you need to decide to remove it or leave it alone when it comes to growths. Needless to say, this was the first time she was away from home for a night, let alone 3 nights. So she was very needy last night.

But between all of that, Yukki also decided to have her babies yesterday. 4. 2 males, 2 females. She may have made a liar out of me again when I said I wouldn’t be keeping any back. I expected pretty babies, but I was not expecting what we got! As a reminder, Jack it a seal lynx point. It’s a spotted tabby like marking. Yukki, is a silver tabby with white. Both, not a lot of white per say. Also, typical spots…. Tell me why these babies look like little cows. AND CLASSIC TABBIES.

So, for the boys.
There is a Brown Tabby classic tabby with white.
And Lynx Point? Mink? But high high white. He’s mostly white with little spots on his back. Not sure if he’s classic or not since he has such little colored marks.

For the girls.
There is what looks like a silver tabby with white. Much like Yukki but with full white face. And more white on her back.
And then… a lynx point/minx classic tabby with white.

I’ve got a few more things to do today but I’m going to get back to replies later today. And I’ll try to get pictures of these 5 babies (Yukki’s 4 and Sabrina’s 1) sometime soon.

12/03/2024

Figment just out here keeping himself entertained while his brother and sister chase each other on the floor. He thinks he’s real rough.

11/03/2024

Life with Boo 🙄
This is why I’m selective on what females I keep back. I don’t need anymore cats like this.

08/03/2024

Sabrina had her litter early this morning to Jack…. A whole one baby. And if anyone remembers the last time she had a singleton, Mr. Obi One, was an absolute terror. He’d bully the dogs and his mom. Scream for attention. Kind of like Puff. Except this girl is out of Jack, who is not calm at all like Payton was. AND she’s a Torbi/patched tabby. She already has a little Tortitude going on. 2024 is giving me hellion girls. But she has huge ears and a nice curly coat already so there’s that.

21/02/2024

There’s been a lot of interest in Puff.

And I just want to be really up front and honest about her, make everyone full aware of her quirks.

She screams for attention. Screams. She will follow who ever is around her just yelling at them if they aren’t paying attention to her. She doesn’t want to be held though, at least not for long periods of time. She’s too much of a wiggle worm for that. She just wants someone to play with her all the time. The only time she’s really quiet is if she’s visiting Jack. And normally it’s a big no no to put kittens with whole males. She gets a real kick out of chasing him around. He had her pinned down with one foot in attempt get her to settle down last night and she was just flat out on her back with all 4 feet going trying to still pester him. Then Yukki was trying to drag her off in a corner to mother her but that turned into a fun game of tag. She definitely cannot go as an only cat. She would probably drive anyone crazy otherwise.

Her bothers are sweet quiet boys who play nice. It’s just Puff.

05/02/2024

I’ve been getting a lot of inquiries on the Dragon litter. By the end of the month I’ll know where we’ll be and our placement plans for them. So I won’t be taking any deposits until March.

If you are a returning home or were referred to us from a current Nightmagic Devon owner, you will have first preference. If we are still on the East coast we will be favoring East placements due to the lack of breeders currently out this way. I know there’s a bit of a struggle everywhere, but I do feel bad about leaving when there’s so few out here at the moment.

For my West coasters, fear not…. Fingers crossed but I think Yukki may be expecting with Jack. No promises just yet. I’m very excited for this pairing, and I can’t even keep any back 🥲

Kitten update!

Little Figment is a pointed after all. He has very similar markings to uncle Boris. But will be much darker as an adult since he’s a seal point. He was the baby pictured before, so you can see how much his color has already come in! I suspect he will be a darker bodied pointed.

Falkor is a solid white. But looks like no blue eyes. I’m guessing he will be a gold-eyed white.

And Puff, still a solid white, but I knew that would be the case. However, surprise surprise, she looks to be an odd-eyed white! Again guessing blue with gold.

1 day old.

There is currently 3 whites and miss black&white. But time will tell if the whites will be pointed or stay solid white.

Because it’s the year of the Dragon, I think we’ll be doing a Dragon themed litter.
Figment, Falkor, Mushu, and Puff or Sisu.

I have a beautiful blue torti girl, Miss Petunia, who will be ready for her retirement home after the holidays.

She’s got that tortitude so ideally a home with a mellow male or as a single cat would be the best option for her. She is fine with her friend group now, but she is the “boss” of her group and that may make introductions a bit more tough in other homes. She is fascinated by the dogs though. So a canine companion would work. She loves attention but I don’t think she’d be a good cat for young children. A young girl at 1.5 years old.

27/11/2023

Zhanna had her stitches removed and I think she saved up all that energy from her week on cage rest. Because she’s hell on wheels with the zoomies now.

And now that she’s healed, she’s officially ready for a forever retirement home. She’s not free. Her fee is a little higher to help cover her emergency vet bill, but it’s still on the low end as listed on our site for adults.

22/11/2023

All kittens are officially in their new homes.

Again, I don’t plan on having more ready to go until the earliest June 2024.

I never planned or intended to take a year break from breeding. This past year has been so hectic with all the moving pieces involved in this process. Moving across the continent to another country, 0 stars, would not recommend.

Right now, we are retiring 2 females. There is currently an unofficial list for both girls. But if you are interested in a retired adult, still feel free to message me because you never know.

Working on a little project for the lines. Nothing crazy, but trying my best as a breeder to cross every T and dot every I that I can when it comes to health testing.

Other than that, my updates will probably be scarce and boring. Life right now is just my crew being the same ol’ obnoxious bunch, if not worse. I think they are getting a little stir crazy here. They take turns practicing their Parkor from 11pm - 6am. So that’s been fun.

14/11/2023

Just to update on who is still looking for homes.

It’s just Miss Sparrow left for the kittens.

And a couple retiring females, like Zhanna.

I’m hoping not to have any other adults to retire. And I don’t plan on having any kittens available until at least 6-7 months. These will be Alberta babies. So my west coast interests, we are getting closer. And to my east coast Nightmagic family and followers, fear not. We’ll always find a way to make it work and get them back out here.

Sparrow has changed so much personality wise since her siblings have left. She’s a funny little thing. I’m actually upset I spayed her because she’s an absolutely beautiful girl, if someone is interested in showing alters, she’d be a lovely girl to start with. Gets along great with everyone. She is fascinated with my dogs. She’s independent enough where she can keep herself busy, but loves attention enough to come check on you when she’s done doing her own thing. She is polite when she does want attention. She doesn’t just throw herself at you, but instead will flop around and try to get you to notice her.

Putting out a feeler for anyone looking for a retired Devon female.

As much as I hate to do this because she’s a young beautiful Devon, but this is the risk to taking a break from breeding… Pyometra.

And Miss Zhanna has been in heat 3 times since the move, which made her odds even worse. She’s still very active as if nothing is wrong.

Zhanna is very clingy though. So she’s not going to be your calm adult cat. She is an avid shoulder jumper/rider. It’s not an every now and then. It’s a multiple times a day thing with her.

She likes my cats but is grouchy when confined with other cats. Like during the house showings, they get confined to prevent accidental escapes, and she was a diva there, typical don’t touch or look at me attitude. No issues with the dogs. She doesn’t go out of her way to see the dogs but she doesn’t mind the dogs.

05/11/2023

Meanwhile Jack is making a whole fort on his side and pretending he’s a worm under all his blankets 🤦‍♀️

05/11/2023

This is what a lot of the show day is like. Just hanging out waiting for rings.

I’m going to be honestly I haven’t been paying attention too much to rings today. Unfortunately a lot of Sundays judges couldn’t make it so we have a lot of the same judges from Saturday again today. And it’s great that they were able to step in, but when you need so many finals from so many different judges, it kinda doesn’t help out too much. Plus the Expo today is much more busy compared to to yesterday so we are doing a lot more chatting with visitors to talk about the breed and last minute running to rings instead.

05/11/2023

End of day one.
Out of 8 rings Mr Mugatu got 6 Best of Breed. 1 - 2nd best of breed and 1 - 3rd best of breed. 2 - 7th best allbreed cat (out of 64 cats) And one final unknown because we had to leave before it got posted. We have another 7 rings tomorrow.

And Jack got 1 - 3rd best 😂 Poor Jack. They loved his type but unfortunately, as I mentioned, Coat counts for 35% so until it comes in it is what it is. It’s great for him to get out and be exposed to things like this for sure. And being Mr Mugatu’s first show too he was loving it!

As it stands he got his Champion title. It’s possible we can get a Grand Champion tomorrow. There is an absolutely stunning Oriental Shorthair though. Like, even I would place that cat over my own. And some lovely Mainecoons and Cornish Rex too!. A lot of nice competition so I can’t even be mad. He was my “Joke Entry” since it was super cheap to put in a second cat and honestly I wasn’t expecting too much. Plus the other Devons did really well in their last show so it was a bit concerning before the rings started. A lot of people have commentary as of late which has been getting to me, I forgot that my cats can and have always handled their own in the rings. We are benched next to lovely Siberian and Mainecoon breeders which makes the whole ordeal really welcoming to come back to from a hiatus.

04/11/2023

I’ll try not to over post too much lol.
Another best of breed for Nightmagic Mr Mugatu.
2/15 down.

Another Hangry Ting Li Ting Jack cursing out the judge. Maybe I’ll get a nice video of him today.

Jack’s coat does have to come in though so I expected this of him.

Mr. Mugatu is a Yukki x Payton baby for anyone wondering. He wasn’t even pick of the litter 😭. The other boys in this litter would have been a better choice but I had them neutered before I even thought of keeping one back. This little boy was too small to be fixed when the others went in. And then they all just flourished.

04/11/2023

First ring of the show. 14 more to go.

Jack is a little cranky. So I’ll spare you his cursing at the judge.

But Mr. Mugatu is getting the hang of it and took best of breed over the other 4 Devons.

Scams

This page keeps getting bombarded with scammers who are trying to promote other groups. I’ve seen Ragdolls, Mainecoon, and Sphynx so far.

I delete and report as I see them. These groups are “kitten selling groups” who are scamming people. They are not real breeders. If you see them before I do please report them as spam. When I get on I can block them from the page. But I’m not sure what else there is I can do without limiting everyone else at the same time or making this a private group vs a public page. Which I don’t want to do either.

Speaking of other breeds and scams. The only cat breed I raise is Devon Rex. And the only other breed I’ve raised was Somalis. That’s it, that’s all. I don’t plan on getting another breed honestly, unless by chance I can get my hands on some of my OG Somali lines because they were 🤌. I may post an Abyssinian from time to time. I am still on friendly terms in Aby/Somali community as they’ve been extremely welcoming during my beginning years and continue to help me out to this day, a whole 19 years later 😶.
So if you see my cattery name on another breed, it’s a scam. I know there was a big to do with Nightmagic Russian Blues in NYC scamming people. I’ve never owned or handled a RB in my life. Nor have I ever lived in NYC.

And I’m not a broker 🙄. I’ve seen that one mentioned too. If you get one of my cats it will be born and raised at either my house or my family’s house, aka the other location. The only time you may get a cat who wasn’t born here is if they are a retired breeder who I imported. And I do inform their breeder when they retire and who they go to, as I’d like the same done to me. I will say this, I don’t speak ill of other breeders. If asked about someone I don’t know or agree with, I will simply say “I don’t know enough about them and to do more research, or there this person in the area too”. Unless it’s a scam, I’m going to point out obvious scams “breeders”.
BUT I have expressed my concerns on brokers. I do not agree with it. The Ukrainian boy I posted, if anyone messaged me, I had them contact the breeder directly. I do not agree with someone buying an animal without having direct contact to the breeder! Period.

This is also my only page for my cats.

And I only have the one website.

This went off on a tangent. But there’s a lot of shady people out there unfortunately, and it’s only getting worse.

31/10/2023

We are breaking our showing hiatus. And against better judgement, I’m bringing both Jack and Mugatu (yes a last minute decision on his name!) First time showing against myself in the same class and with two maturing boys at that. And this is a busy show so, it will be interesting to say the least.

Poor Jack’s coat is still coming in so he may not do the best in the adult class… yet. But it gets his used to the process and he’s already a bit late on that. His brother on the other hand just got back from the world show in France 🫠.

Needless to say this week is extremely busy between this and house sale appointments. So bare with us.

22/10/2023

Three teens left and that’s it for the East. What a crazy adventure.

I’m seeing a lot of Ads and posts with kittens just born “ready to go for Christmas”… absolutely not. Kittens shouldn’t leave before they are at minimum 12 weeks old.

Also, pets are not gifts. Unless you are buying yourself a Christmas present of course. Even if I still have these goobers in December, I will not place them before Christmas.

With all that said, I’m really hoping Jay and Goose can go to a home together. So if you are looking for a crazy pair, they are great. Jay is an aggressive hugger. He really hangs on there and likes to rub his face on yours. But he’s a talker. Goose is equally as Velcro just not quite as needy. And thankfully quiet. But together they are too little buddies.

Now Miss Sparrow turns out loves dogs. Absolutely adores them and gets right in the mix of the chaos like it’s her norm. She’s not attached to cats but would love a home with a cat friendly dog. Out of all cats, this one surprised me.

06/10/2023

The house situation is still in works, and with their being a couple shows out east close by, we took the opportunity to bring Jack home to the East.

And that means we get a better introduction to the new boy in our cattery.

Jack is probably the most active Devon I’ve ever had though. I can only imagine his energy levels mixed with Yukki’s prankster personality… oh boy.

His favorite toy is a microfiber dishcloth 🤦‍♀️. He likes to hide under it, the best he can, which isn’t very much as you can imagine. Then he’ll spazz out and kick it off his head and hug it with one paw while batting at his back feet with the other. He’s such an odd duck.
