FRUIT & VEGGIE HACK!

My Dogs love these😋
I keep them in the cupboard for emergencies, travel, or just because.

Dogs do well on the vitamins and minerals from plant food, they can eat up to 20% of their diet in fruit and veggies 👉 we give our dogs around 10%.

🥑It's a good way to keep the price down,
🥦great for hiding supplements,
🍠and it keeps their food interesting.

Everyone who is thinking of getting dogs should read this because you need to understand this reality:

***I am a 21st century dog.***
-I'm a Malinois.
Overskilled among dogs, I excel in all disciplines and I'm always ready to work: I NEED to work.
But nowadays I get asked to chill on the couch all day everyday.

-I am an Akita Inu.
My ancestors were selected for fighting bears.
Today I get asked to be tolerant and I get scolded for my reactivity when another approaches me.

-I am a Beagle.
When I chase my prey, I raise my voice so the hunters could follow.
Today they put an electric collar on me to shut up, and you make me come back to you - no running - with a snap of your fingers.

-I am a Yorkshire Terrier.
I was a terrifying rat hunter in English mines.
Today they think I can't use my legs and they always hold me in their arms.

-I'm a Labrador Retriever.
My vision of happiness is a dive into a pond to bring back the duck he shot to my master.
Today you forget I'm a walking, running, swimming dog; as a result I'm fat, made to stay indoors, and to babysit.

-I am a Jack Russell.
I can take on a fox, a mean badger, and a rat bigger than me in his den.
Today I get scolded for my character and high energy, and forced to turn into a quiet living room dog.

-I am a Siberian Husky.
Experienced the great, wide open spaces of Northern Europe, where I could drag sleds for long distances at impressive speeds.
Today I only have the walls of the house or small garden as a horizon, and the holes I dig in the ground just to release energy and frustration, trying to stay sane.

-I am a border collie
I was made to work hours a day in partnershipwith my master, and I am an unmistakable artist of working with the herd.
Today they are mad at me because, for lack of sheep, I try to check bikes, cars, children in the house and everything in motion.

I am ...
I am a 21st century dog.
I'm pretty, I'm alert, I'm obedient, I stay in a bag...but I'm also an individual who, from centuries of training, needs to express my instincts, and I am *not* suited for the sedentary life you'd want me to lead.
Spending eight hours a day alone in the house or in the garden - with no work and no one to play or run with, seeing you for a short time in the evening when you get home, and only getting a small toilet walk will make me deeply unhappy.
I'll express it by barking all day, turning your yard into a minefield, doing my needs indoors, being unmanageable the rare times I'll find myself outside, and sometimes spending my days sunk, sad, lonely, and depressed, on my pillow.
You may think that I should be happy to be able to enjoy all this comfort while you go to work, but actually I’ll be exhausted and frustrated, because this is absolutely NOT what I'm meant to do, or what I need to be doing.
If you love me, if you've always dreamed of me, if my beautiful blue eyes or my athletic look make you want me, but you can't give me a real dog's life, a life that's really worth living according to my breed, and if you can't offer me the job that my genes are asking, DO NOT buy or adopt me!
If you like the way I look but aren't willing to accept my temperament, gifts, and traits derived from long genetic selection, and you think you can change them with only your good will, then DO NOT BUY OR ADOPT ME.
I’m a dog from the 21st century, yes, but deep inside me, the one who fought, the one who hunted, the one who pulled sleds, the one who guided and protected a herd still lives within.
So think **very** carefully before you choose your dog. And think about getting two, rather than one, so I won't be so very lonely waiting for you all day. Eight or ten hours is just a workday to you, but it's an eternity for me to be alone.

Like David Attenborough Fans for more.

Pet-Safe Household Cleaners 🧴 👍

If you’re a clean freak, you might not realize most commercial cleaning products pollute indoor air with toxic fumes ☠️, which can be hazardous and irritating. ⚠️To learn how to protect your family’s health, read today’s free article (linked in the comments). 👨‍👩‍👦🐶🐱

Heartworm drugs may give you a false sense of security. Here's what you need to know:

🐾 Mosquitoes are becoming resistant to heartworm meds, meaning dogs can still get heartworm despite treatment.

❗️ These drugs are wrongly marketed as “prevention” when they only target heartworm larvae. If the worms are already adults, the meds won’t help.

⚠️ Heartworm drugs are neurotoxic, leading to serious side effects like vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, and even neurological issues.

🔍 Instead of unnecessary meds, ask your vet for a microfilariae test to detect heartworms.

💪 A strong immune system and natural pest repellents can be enough to protect your dog. Plus, check heartworm prevalence in your area for peace of mind.

"Finally, we’re at a turning point, in veterinary nutrition. ✨ Vets are the last group of formally trained medical professionals to still actively (and sometimes aggressively) promote the exclusive feeding of ultra-processed, pelleted food for a lifetime (birth to death), as a means to achieve longterm health. 🥺❓
This incongruent and unorthodox recommendation is a result of our nutrition education during veterinary medical school. As of now, every vet school around the world is endowed by a Big Pet Food brand, so their nutrition curriculum is funded, prepared and executed (taught) by the top (ultra-processed) pet food manufacturers (or faculty funded by them), so our future vets don’t have access to unbiased nutrition information. But our Next Generation vet students are asking more questions 💥; aren’t less processed, fresher foods healthier for all mammals? How does heat and extended, unregulated, storage temps affect added nutrients, flavorings, palatants and additives 🌡️? Where are all the synthetic nutrients coming from, and is anyone regulating safety? In the U.S., there’s no limit on the amount of copper and other minerals in pet food… and what happens when we feed excessive amounts in perpetuity?
While some vet med students may not feel nutrition is relevant to their future (see link in graphic), and some (correctly) feel they aren’t adequately prepared for the job ahead of them, we have a whole new generation of intelligent, inspired, and empowered veterinary students who actually understand all of these issues, and are moving forward with a clear sense of what needs to happen in veterinary hospitals around the world, but also what has to happen in the industry ☄️. The next generation of present-knowledge vets is here… let’s support the heck out of them"

📣 We have Beef on the menu!

Royalburn Station Angus Beef spine bones, digestible meaty bones.

Ruby and Luna are loving them!
The bone is that bit harder, so takes that bit longer to eat 😋

GOT A DOG WITH PANCREATITIS?
For most afflicted, pancreatitis is the net result of feeding a meat-eater high dose carbs for a long period.

GOT A DOG WITH PANCREATITIS? COME TO THE CLINIC THURSDAY 1:30PM (BST) FOR 1 TO 1 ADVICE. WE'LL GET HIM SORTED.
You know this disease is one of my pet peeves as, for the most part, this incredibly painful disease is very avoidable.

While there are many causes of pancreatitis in dogs (and cats) - an infection, side effects of a nasty drug, obesity, even a back injury at the wrong place - far and away the first place to look is diet.

For most afflicted, pancreatitis is the net result of feeding a meat-eater high dose carbs for a long period. Studies show this spikes blood fat, rather paradoxically (I will explain next week), the very thing the vets are trying to avoid when recommending those horrific low-fat (and thus even higher carb) kibble diets.

Not to say raw is off the hook here. If you have a rocky pancreatitis from some previous insult, no doubt a really high fat diet for extended periods may not be your buddy.

The good news is there's LOTS of low-hanging fruit here. It's all about getting the diet right (first and foremost) and then working to reduce the "itis" part (latin for inflammation) of pancreatitis.

In this way, 100s of clients tell us the long-term prognosis for a dog WITH THE RIGHT TREATMENT is great, but not if you keep them on that high-carb (or high-fat?) diets.

How do you join us? Easy, join our membership. We call The Den. There are lots of things happening in there - a blog, my online courses, our Academy and these clinics.

There's a €9.95 entrance fee which you can cancel anytime you like. You can come to the clinic, chat to us directly about your dog and then in your own time watch all my online courses, as they come with your sign-up!

Newcomers may also be interested in our New To Raw Academy, which started last week. We're on module 2 now (of 20) but please join us, particularly if the idea of feeding your pancreatitis dog fresh food gives you any pause for concerns. Learn from the experts live how to do it. That's every Tuesday at 1pm, and also included in your monthly membership too!

If you know someone with a pet suffering pancreatitis, please send this on to them. We know how to get them right.

Ruby Rose loves her meaty bones slightly cooked❤️

We don't cook the meat through, the bones are still cold - just a quick 5-10 minute blast to make it yummy. I tip the juices and oils over the tripe and organs - she's in heaven❗
Tonight Ruby gets 'flash baked' Wallaby Butt with Lamb Tripe
