The next litter planned for Temple Pantera Cattery is expected in late October. Royal Rainbow Magic has been paired with Trahen James. This is another important litter in the Highlander Genome Project.
Queen Magic and her 2 siblings, King Guinness and Queen Loti, are the only 3 Highlanders where both of the parents have the Temple/Crabcreek Novel Tail Variant from the "Inkadinka of Crabcreek" bloodline.
At this time, we do not have enough information from Dr Lyons' Highlander Tail Study to make any assumptions about the Novel Tail Variant(s). Selective breeding and consistent DNA testing is very important to the project. At Temple Pantera, we have reached 4 generations of NST Highlanders from the "Inkadinka of Crabcreek's" bloodline (aka Temple/Crabcreek). Having paired the 2 Highlanders with the Temple/Crabcreek "Inkadinka bloodline", Rhone Royal and Tomi LaRin, and producing 5 NST out of 6 kittens was exciting!
Their son, Guinness, has already produced 1 litter of 2 NST girls. Of course, this is NOT enough kittens to guess if he could be homozygous for NST. But, it is a promising start to his stud career.
I am filled with anticipation for the October litter from Magic and Trahen! (Confirmation of pregnancy within a couple weeks.)
