🎄🐾 Help Us Give Our Shelter Dogs New Homes for the Holidays! 🐾🎄

Our shelter’s crates – the little “homes” where our dogs find comfort and security – are old, broken, and in desperate need of replacement. This Christmas, we want to give each of our rescued pups a fresh, safe space to call their own, but we can’t do it without you!

We’re raising funds to buy new crates so that every dog has a cozy, secure place to rest. Your donation, no matter the amount, will go directly toward making this happen and improving the lives of the dogs in our care.

💖 Please donate and help us make this dream a reality! Together, we can give our dogs a truly special gift this holiday season. Thank you for your love and support!

6 Days left to participate in this amazing opportunity!
We’re excited to share that a documentary team has been following the journey of ADLA and the incredible work our team has done rescuing and rehoming thousands of dogs. This story will be featured in the third episode of True North, called Running With the Big Dogs, highlighting our mission and impact.

To finish production, the team is raising funds, and while donations for this campaign won’t directly come to ADLA right now, completing this documentary will help us gain national exposure once it hits streaming platforms. This exposure has the potential to dramatically increase awareness of our work, helping us rescue even more dogs in the future. Your support can help them, which in turn will help ADLA animals & team!

The filmmaker has also committed to donating a percentage of the funds raised to ADLA. Here’s how it works:

Once they hit their goal of $10,560, 2% of donations will go to ADLA.
If they exceed their $20,000 target, we will receive 15% of anything above that.
Though we won’t see immediate donations from this campaign, the long-term impact of telling our story on such a large scale is something we truly believe in. We hope it will raise awareness and inspire support for our mission for years to come.

We’re so grateful for your continued support, and we’ll keep you updated every step of the way. You can watch the trailer and learn more about the campaign below!

Thank you! 🐾❤️

Adri found her True North, her purpose, healing and finding homes for stray and often abused dogs living on the streets of Puerto Rico. Please help us complete our episode about her work so she can rescue more dogs, grow her organization, and inspire more people to find their own True North.

We are their Voice

Amigos de los Animales (ADLA) is one of the oldest animal rescues in Puerto Rico and has acted as the voice for the abused, neglected and suffering since 2005. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home stray, abandoned and abused dogs in Puerto Rico, as well as educate our communities on the proper and humane treatment of all animals.

ADLA operates a dog shelter located in the Piñones area of Loiza—one of the poorest municipalities in Puerto Rico with a poverty rate of over 50%; and known as a famous dumping ground for unwanted pets. Since its incorporation in 2005, ADLA has rescued approximately 3,300 dogs, and the Shelter (on average) houses between 55 and 75 dogs at a time. ADLA adopts its rescues within the island, or ships dogs to adopters or recipient no-kill shelters on the mainland United States.

The future for animals (including the dogs in Puerto Rico, known as “satos”) lies with the generations to come. We are committed to educating at the grade school level and either visit schools, or receive groups at the Shelter, for conferences or general discussions on animal welfare and the importance of showing animals compassion and respect. We also emphasize the need to provide proper care for companion animals.

ADLA coordinates Puerto Rico's only six-day Animal Control Officer-Cruelty Investigator certification course alongside Puerto Rico’s Department of Health and the Career Development Institute. We have coordinated eight (8) courses thus far and produced 298 investigators.
