Last night, my husband thought he heard a dog bump into the ramp so he got up and looked around, but didn’t see a dog. He went back to bed an hour later he heard a dog run up the ramp very loudly. He looked around the bed and didn’t see a dog so he got up and turned on the lights and there was no dog. He went to the living room and Olivia was sleeping on the couch and Socks was sleeping with me. We both said it must’ve been Bryce.

Socks update. We redid his labs about a month ago and good news is he is not in stage 3 kidney disease. He does have mild kidney disease. He has moderate heart disease. He has fluid in his lungs again and so far it hasn’t cleared. We have upped the lasix dose. He’s hanging in there.

We got Bryce 9 years ago today. I can’t believe he’s been gone for 15 months. I’ve been missing him a lot lately. We should have had more time with him. I love you Bryce.

Socks wishes everyone a happy Valentine’s Day.

I took Socks for a recheck today. They did an ultrasound on his gallbladder and it looks great now. It was full of sludge. So now we can stop the urisidol. His lungs don’t have fluid in them at the moment so I can stop the lasix. We will do another chest xray in a month to recheck the one lung that was looking weird. He is now having some weakness in his hind legs. Just trudging on the best we can.

Edit the anniversary of his passing is actually tomorrow. I thought today was the 5th I have a lot going on right now

A year ago today our little buddy Bryce crossed over the rainbow bridge. I miss him so much. I’d love to hold him one more time. But in my heart, I know he’s in a better place. I think about you every day my quirky little Bryce.

Socks update: I took Socks to the vet today because he was coughing like crazy and had a fever. I also thought I heard something in his lungs He does have some fluid in his lung and his one lung is oddly shaped. The vet isn’t sure if it’s infection or cancer. She’s waiting on some labs. His liver was huge. She did an ultrasound and it showed no tumors so she thinks it’s hepatitis. His gallbladder is full of sludge so that could have caused the liver problems. He definitely has trachea collapse which I thought he did all along. His one kidney looked kind of shriveled up on the xray but unsure. But his kidney lab work shows he’s in kidney failure. I’m absolutely heartbroken. He has been doing so great. He’s had a minor reoccurrence of his neck pain. Probably from all the coughing. I don’t know what I’ll do without this dog. He was licking away my tears today. He’s the best dog anyone could ask for.

Today Socks turned 17 1/2. Shouting out his half birthday because he wasn’t feeling well on his actual birthday. Plus I’m just happy about every day I get to spend with him.
