This time of the year watering becomes critical. You need to keep lot of moisture going into the soil, especially carrots, mini wobbler sprinklers have an awesome coverage and perform well.#organicproduce#Irrigation#Water#Sprinklers#miniwobblersenninger.
Yesterday we planted approximately 6 pounds of potatoe seed that will yield several buckets of potatoes like last year. We had a giant grasshopper infestation that forced us to harvest the potato a little bit sooner however, we’re not in that situation this year and we can let them mature ~potatoes grow well in Utah soil.
Planting potatoes in the garden our Utah soils are especially good for potatoes. They grow well I am planting these potatoes in the same place as I did last year however, I had to harvest the potatoes earlier because of a giant infestation of grasshoppers hopefully this year we don’t have that same pressure.#potatoes#utahgrown.
Greenhouses are a wonderful thing however they are only so strong with winds of gusts up to 50+ miles an hour my Greenhouse lost its plastic and it took me about two days to put the new stuff back on, but we’re back in action. Let’s rock.
Got a chance to ski today at the world famous Snowbasin what a great way to feel what are wonderful earth has to offer Earth Day of course!#earthday#skiing🎿#snowbasin.

Sitting outside tonight on the retaining wall, I was sitting next to my friend, and between us this small bumblebee who is working in the lavender plants to get pollen nectar. It was awesome listening to the bee, working so hard and buzzing. Also if you are keen to listening in the video there were bats in the background, clicking, communicating, nature is a wonderful subtle thing. Happy Fourth of July.

2023 springtime snow pack melt runoff I live very close to the mountains and in the mornings you can hear the roar of the water that comes from Taylors Canyon. It is a amazing sound that you would not normally here during spring time, but because of the large amounts of snow that we’ve had the snow melt run off, creates a marvelous sound.#springrunoff#springtime#wasatchmountains.
Since April of this year getting plants into the ground was more or less lost because of cold temperatures and snow in northern Utah. We continue to seed many varieties of vegetables, these new plants will be in the cell flats between 15 and 20 days and then if everything works out planted in the ground by the end of May. When you farm organic vegetables, one of the important aspects of growing vegetable is succession planting so seeds are constantly planted to keep vegetables growing for a 20 week period.#organicfarmingpractices#seeds#vegetables.
So I’m always amazed at vegetables that are harvested their colors how they form during the time that they’re in the ground and what you get as as far as the mature product nature is beautiful nature is never dull.
Where did the saying “Corn should be knee-high by the Fourth of July”come from ?
The farmers almanac says knee-high by the Fourth of July is an adage farmers once used to gauge how their corn crop was doing. If the corn plants had reached knee-high by the fourth it signaled a good yield at the end of the growing season some sources trace the saying to colonial times. Happy 4th everybody!
Sunday, May 29 we have had two days of the most beautiful rains that are desperately needed to help all of our vegetation and vegetables to be watered springtime with rain becomes a marvelous thing#rainyday#springtime
