On a blind date, 33 years ago today, a girl found her forever boy. He would say it was the opposite, but God would say it was a tiny part of his master plan.
The city boy underestimated how much time it would take to get to the mountain girls home. So with permission from their parents, they caught the late showing of Wayne’s World. Pizza Hut would be the restaurant of choice after the movie. On the way home, the boy sang a rendition of, “0h Mickey your so fine!” It was at that very moment, two young people fell in love.
Five years later on December 14, 1996, Eric and Sheila were married in their hometown church with friends and family promising to help nurture the love between them.
Their wedding song, “Love Remains,” by Colin Raye would be the story of their love and life to come.
Many trials, hardships, and tears would be cried over the years. More triumphs, joyful moments, and happy times would be had.
With a strong faith in God and a belief in the power of prayer, Eric and Sheila would be blessed with three children. Hunter, Peyton, and Grayson would be gifts from God. Gifts that would never be taken for granted.
Eric and Sheila’s story continues…
This story is our story. We are the city boy and the mountain girl. We are the Eric and Sheila, and our love still remains.
To summarize, we leave you with the words to our wedding song. These words hang on a wall in our home today as reminder to, “let go and let God!”
“Love Remains”
By Colin Raye
We are born, one fine day
Children of God, on our way
Mama smiles, and Daddy cries
Miracle, before their eyes
They protect us, 'til we're of age
And through it all, love remains
Boy moves on, he takes a bride
She stands faithful, by his side
Tears and sweat, they build a home
And raise a family of their own
They share joy, and they share pain
And through it all, love remains
Kingdoms come and go, but they don't last
Before you know, the future is the past
In spite of what's been lost or what's been gained
We are living proof that love remains
I don't know, what I'd do on this Earth, without you
We all live, and we all die
But the end is not good-bye
The sun comes up, and seasons change
And through it all, love remains
An eternal burning flame
Hope lives on
And love remains
