At we take note of World Down Syndrome Day today with our beloved Kakashi🥰. The date hints to uniqueness of the trisomy of the 21st chromosome, which causes Down syndrome. Wearing mismatched socks mimics the way the chromosomes assemble.

A special shout-out goes to all Island Haven peeps who will be rocking their socks with their furbabies today😉

Island Haven Mobile Veterinary Services is giving back to the community of Diego Martin with a low-cost spay and neuter drive; just for you!

Price includes pick-up and drop-off of the animal, pregurgical flea/tick treatment (if needed), surgical procedure, anaesthesia, and all medications. All animals must be in good health without any sickness/diseases. Pregnant animals or those in heat will not qualify for the programme. Pre-surgical bloodwork can be done but at an additional cost.

This low-cost community spay/neuter drive will run from September 18th to October 13th, 2023. Call ☎️(868)687-7375 to book your appointment.

Chicken enrichment: Freeze chopped fruit pieces or other treats in water. A large ice block will slowly melt throughout the day revealing treats, while smaller ice-cubes can be offered in a bowl of water to help keep your flock cool and encourage bobbing for treats.

Do not give hydrogen peroxide to cats!
The internet can be full of misinformation, and whether or not hydrogen peroxide can be given to cats is unfortunately, a topic that can lead to deadly consequences. There is no safe or effective way to make our feline friends vomit at home, that includes using hydrogen peroxide. In fact, using something like hydrogen peroxide can cause significant injury to a cat’s gastrointestinal system, potentially causing more damage than the original issue. Cats are extremely sensitive to the gastric irritant effects of hydrogen peroxide and giving any amount by mouth can have severe negative effects that can lead to death. If your pet ingested something you are concerned may be toxic, call your veterinarian or Pet Poison Helpline right away before attempting to perform any treatments at home.

Facts! If your kids interact with your pet, then they're exposed to zoonotic diseases like contracting a worm infection. Most parrots do well with a diet including pellets, fresh vegetables and fruit, healthy grains, edible flowers, and limited nuts and seeds as treats. Variety is a great form of nutritional enrichment! However, to help reduce stimulation of reproductive activity, make sure to avoid offering food items that are warm or excessively mushy. These items may trigger similar cues to courtship feeding.
