Please please STOP âœ‹đŸŒ HELP, REPORT the accident, it’s about saving the animal’s life and preventing so much suffering of the animal and the family

Empathise with any driver that hits a cat that runs out in front of them. That bit isn’t there fault. What follows is their responsibility though.

REMEMBERING THE CATS
Thousands of cats were dispatched to the trenches during WW1 to keep rodent numbers down and act as early warning detectors for mustard gas. So many gave great comfort to the troops as companions and mascots. How many cats survived we will never know?
Paws At The Ready -
The cats of World War One had significant role in all the campaigns, we must honour their bravery too.
Give thought to all the kitties
who served in World War One.
A battalion of the finest
who never fired a gun.
What was their role?
Whether hunting rodents out at sea,
or loyal friends to men,
these many cats had vital roles,
time and time again.
The food was saved.
A common sight in trenches deep,
dispatching mice and rats,
the soldiers’ had a special bond
with many of these cats.
Many were treasured mascots.
Five hundred thousand cats were sent
to serve in the Great War.
Some detected mustard gas,
whilst others were off shore.
Some of the feline heroes -
Togo was the Dreadnought’s cat,
The Swan had their lad Ching.
Pincher was the Vinex’s mog,
it was luck they hoped they’d bring.
‘Martinpuich’ was aptly named,
by The 9th battalion chaps.
Pitouchi was the orphaned kit,
who’d survived on army scraps.
Spark Plug, Tabby and many more
were companions to the troops.
The feline unsung heroes,
those cats who became recruits.
We’ll never truly realise
just what these cats went through.
So spare a thought and give some thanks
for what they did for you!
Lest We Forget!

It only took 7 years but better late than never as they say! 😾 We are thrilled the day has finally come, and believe this is just the beginning of cats finally getting the protections they deserve in the eyes of the law. Slowly but surely they will catch up to their canine counterparts, and it will have all started with this piece of legislation! We've said it a million times throughout the years but once again we want to thank all of our supporters - especially those of you who told their cats microchip stories for us to present to DEFRA during an evidence gathering meeting and those who took part in the public consultations themselves, resulting in DEFRA saying to us they rarely see the level of support this proposed legislation has received!
This would not be law now had it not been for Rehman Chishti MP ultimately, who put the Cats Bill through after the issue was raised with him by constituents who run the rescue Animals Lost and found in Kent Ltd, with then the added help of then Ministers Michael Gove & David Rutely who pushed as hard as they did for the consultations and inclusion in the party manifesto! It would also not have been the success it has been without the numerous other cat and animal organisations fiercely helping push this too.
When this first went through in Bill form, no one predicted we'd see a pandemic (which put the legislation back as there were minimal staff working on it from home at one point), a war on our continent (which caused the DEFRA team to turn attentions on people fleeing Ukraine and bringing pets here with them), and then a cost of living crisis (which raised doubts on how much promotional work they could do on it). When Liz Truss became PM, ourselves and other cat organisations genuinely thought it was the end of the road for the legislation as she sacked some of the main people working on it and the ministers she appointed wouldn't commit to it. Thankfully hers and her peoples reign was short lived, and the wonderful companion animal team at DEFRA continued to make it happen! Somehow, the legislation survived through everything, even when so many other animal welfare proposals were unfortunately, shockingly dropped, so we feel extremely grateful to the hundreds of people ultimately involved in it's success. Well done everyone đŸ‘đŸ±

This beautiful girl was sadly left outside
Beechwood Vets Leeds with a note saying ‘Please help me. I’m pregnant’

The lovely staff at the vets called us for help and she is now safe in our care.

She’s a beautiful young tortie girl only about 2 years old and is ready to give birth in around 2 weeks’ time. She’s a very sweet girl and is now named Talulah. It’s very sad that she wasn’t spayed and that she has become pregnant

We are inundated with requests for help with pregnant cats, stray kittens, unneutered injured toms. All this could be prevented if people only neutered their cats đŸ˜© All rescues are bursting at the seams

How hard is it to stop the car and help an animal that’s obviously been hit by accident? What kind of humans are these that leave a defenceless hurt animal on the road 😔

Hi everyone, just had a text from a lady who was very upset as she thinks she might have hit an animal outside Jersey Zoo this evening, she’s not sure if a rabbit or a cat, upon checking the road she couldn’t find anything, likely it ran away, please look out for your furry babies and if you can and live near, have a look in case there’s an injured animal in need of veterinary medical help.
The JSPCA has also been informed.
Thank you to the lady for caring đŸ™đŸŒ
