This little pup is growing like a w**d, both in manners and in stature! Gunnar is here for Phase 3 of our puppy program and it’s so fun to share in his progress. He has matured from an 8 week old pup at the beginning of his training journey, to a now 5 month old boy! Gunnar graduates this weekend and we are proud of him and his parents for all of the hard work they have put in throughout the program. We know it will have a life-long impact and we are so proud of them!

I love the floppy ear stage!! Shepherd puppy ears have so much character ❤️
Gunnar started his puppy program with us a few weeks ago and is growing (both in size and manners 😄). His parents have been putting in the reps in between sessions and it shows 💪🏻
We have one more in-home session next week to wrap up Phase one of our three phase puppy program. He will be joining us in a couple weeks for Phase two!
We are really excited to offer a three phase puppy program that grows with your puppy. So many owners ask me when they can start training their puppy. The answer is the day you bring them home!
It’s so much easier to build upon a solid foundation that is established early on. So many common behavior problems and stressful moments can be completely avoided when you are able to start off on the right foot (or paw 🐾) with your pup.
It’s never too early (nor is it ever too late) to start training and guiding your pup. Today is the day!
For those of you who have decided to bring home a puppy this Christmas (or for those of you who are thinking about it), we are here to answer any questions you may have. We would love to help provide you with the knowledge and tools you need to live the best life possible with your puppy!

The magic of Christmas with an extra buddy along for the ride! 🎄
Brida started her board and train with us the week before Christmas. It has been such a pleasure to have this sweet girl here learning and growing with our family throughout the Christmas season. Though it has been busy, it has been really fun to watch her begin to display more and more of her sweet side, and less of her over-excitable, super amped state she lived in before.
Brida is almost 9 months old and had a bit of a rough start to life. After suffering a leg break, she was surrendered to a veterinarian staff member and placed on kennel rest for 6 weeks. Once her leg was healed and she was set free from kennel rest, she tried to make up for lost time.
Brida’s energy level has been through the roof. Her brain escalates extremely quickly at any little distraction and she has an almost impossibly hard time focusing or calming her mind. She has enjoyed jumping on people, jumping up on counters and tables (including jumping completely with all four paws up onto the counter).
She has a history of separation anxiety, escaping from the crate, excessive vocalization, destructive behaviors, stealing food/trash, mouthing/nipping, playing over-exuberantly with another dog in the house, reacting to cars on the walk, excessive jumping on guests (to the point of jumping on and over their heads when they are sitting down), and destroying and ingesting bedding and toys.
Brida will be continuing her training with us for the next week and a half, as we help shift her brain into a calmer, more relaxed state of being. We can’t wait to see how much she grows and to share her progress with all of you!

“I’ll Keep You Safe. You Keep Me Wild.”
"I'll Keep You Safe. You Keep Me Wild."
It all started with Beorn - six weeks old, six pounds, and a bundle of cuteness and fluff... that is until I got him home.
From the moment we walked through the door that first day, he was relentless. The endless whining, destruction, and chaos in those first days, further developed into lunging, barking, and aggressive tendencies toward both dogs and human "strangers."
Being an inexperienced German Shepherd owner, I did everything the wrong way. I got him too young. I had no idea how to effectively communicate with him. I was afraid to create structure or set boundaries. I tried treat-only training, exercising to "tire him out," going to dog parks to "socialize" him, and nothing seemed to work. I found myself frustrated and discouraged, and felt I was "failing" him as an owner. I was in way over my head!
This is when I found balanced training. I had spent countless hours researching and studying various training methodologies. I started following several balanced trainers on social media. This is when I began seeing replicable results in action. After observing countless lives changed and dogs lives potentially saved, I developed a trust and respect for the world of balanced trainers. It was then that I decided to send my boy to a board and train program while I was living in California. Our lives were forever changed!
When Beorn came home from his board and train program, he was not a "new dog," but rather an almost "enhanced" Beorn. They had greatly diminished all of his negative qualities and exploded the good. They found a way to draw out his full potential and provided us an opportunity for a NEW LIFE of FREEDOM, TOGETHER. I was no longer stressed or worried about all of his behavioral issues. We could simply enjoy life, infused with a new richness and a deeper BOND.
Through all of our years together, we had been there to see and help each other grow in ways that no one else could. Even in his more difficult days, Beorn had been there and had walked with me through some of my darkest days. I would come home from a long shift in the ER to find his smiling face. For a moment, the world would be a better place as we went for our morning hikes, exploring the unknown. It was he and I "against the world."
Through our new life TOGETHER, he has learned to trust me as a leader; and I have learned to communicate with him in a way he needs and understands. I am his advocate; and he is my adventure buddy. I show him a way of life that boosts his confidence and decreases his anxiety; and he ignites in me a desire to explore and truly live. I keep him SAFE; and he keeps me WILD.
Having lived the "before" and "after" with Beorn, a passion grew within me to help others find this new way of life that had been gifted to us. This is when I decided to quit my full-time job as a Registered Nurse in order to pursue dog training (try telling that one to your friends, family, and co-workers!). I can honestly say that there hasn't been a day that's gone by that I have regretted!
Since that moment, I have continued to immerse myself in the world of dog training - there is always more that can be learned. I have also been fortunate enough to train among some of the best trainers in the country. Now I'm excited to take all that I have learned and offer it to you and your canines!
Beorn and I can't wait to help you find CONNECTION, FREEDOM, and LIFE - TOGETHER.
