So sad, please think honestly before getting a dog, regardless of where it comes from. The reality is that every surrendered animal is in a constant race against the clock just to survive. Thankfully we have rescues with extremely generous volunteers and donors, but not every dog is fortunate enough to end up there, and ultimately with a loving family.
Be honest with yourself, your family and the breeder or rescue before buying or adopting. Dogs are not toys, they are expensive to own and need attention and love.
Thank you to all of the caring shelters that put animals first ❤️
Okay we need to have a talk! Seriously people if you put in an application to adopt one of our dogs please, please give them a chance to decompress.
One night, one week or even two weeks your dog is still getting used to you and their new surroundings. We are finding people returning dogs after agreeing to taking them in without even giving the dogs a chance.
This is not fair to the dogs at all and if you asked to foster to adopt a dog you agreed to hold the dogs until we find another home so that they are not sent back to the vet kennel which is full all the time.
So in the end we ask if you are not in it for the long haul please do not apply to our rescue or any rescue for that matter.
What does decompressing mean to you? How long do you think a dog needs to decompress - know these things and please be serious if you do apply with us.
If you hear frustration in this post it is because it breaks our hearts to have a dog sent back so soon when the dog is not aggressive in any fashion - be honest on your application please! Don't say you will work with the dog when you have no intention or that you will get a trainer if necessary and not even try.
End of rant, but hoping people really consider the dogs before applying in the future.
