Meet Harper and Zeb, two beautiful smooth fox terriers whose owner recently passed away. Through no fault of their own, these sweet pups found themselves in a shelter near Tallahassee, Florida, and they need our help.
We are looking for:

UPDATE: still looking for someone somewhat near Killeen, Tx. to at least foster Winston while we continue to look for an adoptive home. The current owners are asking to have this done ASAP due to their current family circumstances.

Winston is a wonderful 8 year old WFT in Killeen, Texas. Winston is a very good boy, but due to family circumstances, he needs to be rehomed. He has no health problems, is neutered and up to date on all his vaccinations. He is used to being an only dog and must be the only animal in the household – no cats or other dogs, or small children.
Winston loves walks and is great on a leash, but isn’t taken on walks often because, like many WFTs, he gets very excited when he sees other dogs and goes into full play mode, which other dogs don’t usually appreciate. As a result, he spends most of his time running around in the back yard, playing ball.

If you’re interested in fostering or adopting Winston, please be aware of the requirements:
- Must have experience with Wire Fox Terriers
- No other pets
- No small children
- Fully fenced-in yard

Please meet Garnet - he truly is a gem of a boy! 💎
This sweet 3-year-old (estimate) pup was found wandering the streets of Baltimore and ended up at a high-risk shelter.
Daisy’s Rescue (in Alexandria, VA) pulled him.
When he first arrived at his foster home, Garnet was terrified, but he’s blossomed into the most wonderful companion in just a few days. His true personality is shining through now - he’s sweet, cuddly and silly. He’s also incredibly eager to please and just wants to be loved.
He has the most beutiful brown eyes and silky soft fur and weighs 21 lbs.

SECOND UPDATE: It’s hard to believe, but Beau is still waiting to be fostered or adopted! Won’t someone give this sweet guy a chance?

UPDATE: Beau is still looking for his forever home. He is a very sweet and loving boy, and his current owner knows she is unable to give him the care and activity a smooth fox terrier needs. Please consider him- even if there is another pet in the home, it may work!

Beau, the 4 1/2 year old smooth fox terrier in Sacramento, California, is still looking for his new forever home! He is neutered, up to date on shots, and a very affectionate boy. He would do best in a home with no other pets, (although in some certain situations he might be okay with another dog) and would do well with children who can help keep him active. Meet Scruffy! He was born in January 2017 and has known nothing but love his entire life. His owner recently passed away, leaving him searching for someone else to love. He needs a good fenced yard, because he is an escape artist, and can jump a 6 foot fence! He has never been around small children, and has always been an only dog, so he needs to be in a home where he is still an only dog. He is as sweet as can be, he loves car rides, and sleeping right next to you. He has never been crated and would never understand that at this point in his life. He likes to sit on laps but isn't crazy about toys, even though he has always had them. He prefers to run zoomies in his yard and sleep on the front porch. He's currently located in El Paso, Texas. Meet Barthy, a 3-year-old Smooth Fox Terrier currently at the Animal Rescue League of Berks County in Birdsboro, PA.
Barthy is everything you’d expect from the breed — intelligent, independent, and full of personality. He’s not a dog who bonds instantly with just anyone, but once he knows you, he’s playful, affectionate, and genuinely happy to be with his people.
Recently, one of our staff shared:
“Barthy has gotten much easier to leash and walk. He is very happy around the people that he knows. Barthy loves running and sniffing. He also loves getting pets and attention.”
During a recent outing, he had “no issues with leashing or unleashing” and soaked up the attention. He loves being outdoors, has a great little zoomie streak, and enjoys a good cuddle once he’s comfortable.
Barthy does show some sensitivity in new situations and has displayed some resource guarding and caution with unfamiliar people. He was surrendered due to his family moving overseas and had lived with adults and children (ages 1 and 7). While he hasn't lived with other animals, he was able to calmly walk alongside another dog here after a careful introduction.
Given his needs, we’re hoping for a breed-savvy rescue or foster-based setting that can offer him structure, patience, and a lower-stress environment to settle in.
