Sandy’s Story
Sandy is a fawn Doberman that was abandoned in North Carolina by a family that left her to survive on her own. Sandy was rescued by the Doberman Rescue Association and put in a foster home. As a family we were looking to give a dog in need a good home. Having trained Dobermans for many years, we decided it would be a good match for us. Through the Doberman Rescue Association website
we were able to get a glimpse of Sandy’s photo. After inquiring about her we were happy to be accepted as her new adoptive family. Once Sandy was home with us I began introducing her to short segments of training using a “choke collar” only to find out that she was highly allergic to metal and plastic. Her skin immediately became red with a terrible rash. Needless to say, I discontinued the use of all collars made with any metal or plastic. It was at this point during my search I found that all collars are made with some type of metal or plastic, either for adjustment purposes for locking clasp. With all my options exhausted, the bandana on Sandy’s neck shows the level of my desperation. The only thing left for me to do was to create what I was looking for. So began the birth of Collar Guard by Sandy’s Sleeve Inc. tm
I knew I had to devise a way of allowing Sandy to wear a choke, buckle or snap collar while at the same time avoiding any contact to her skin. Collar Guard is unique because once you insert your collar into the sleeve, it disappears. The only exposed part is the D-ring to attach your leash. No metal or plastic has any contact with your dog’s neck which prevents the risk of injury. I invite you to protect your dog from allergies and pain. I know you will love our product. It is made from the heart with love and it is made to protect our animal companions. Your companion can’t tell you he or she is in pain. Fortunately with my Sandy it was evident. Collar Guard can be used on all animals that require a collar of some type. Whether it is a choke, buckle or snap collar.
