VOCAL - Voices of Change Animal League, Ocala Voices of Change Animal League, Inc. is a 501(c)3 animal welfare organization We believe that keeping pets in loving homes is a multifaceted approach.
(125)

At VOCAL, our mission is to solve the homeless pet problem through prevention, community outreach, adoption and collaboration. Prevention

If that sounds like a big mission, you are right, it is, especially when you consider that Marion County, Florida has an estimated 40,000 unsterilized cats and dogs. Without aggressive intervention through targeted spay-neuter programs, they will only continue

to reproduce and add to the homeless pet population. Through our Community Clinic & Resource Center, we provide both low-cost and often no cost spay-neuter services to public clients, community caregivers, and partner rescue organizations. Community Outreach

While the heart of our mission will always be the animals we serve, we also recognize that there are many families who love their pets deeply but are unable to provide care for their pets. Our outreach programs focus on reducing intake into our local shelters and rescues by providing resources and connecting with these families to improve both the lives of the people and their pets. Through our Project FEED program, we provide food assistance for over 3,000 animals in our local Marion County community. At our Community Clinic, we offer vaccines, routine procedures, and life-saving surgery, all at an affordable cost. Through our TNR (trap-neuter-return) program, we offer assistance to caregivers of feral cats in order to control the homeless cat population while keeping community cats safe, healthy, and thriving. Adoption

When no other option is feasible or desirable, and as space allows, we take in at-risk pets into our foster and adoption program. Once they come in, they are safe, fed, vetted and loved. We look for the perfect match for every animal we adopt out. Each year we take in a few hundred animals, mostly pulling directly from our county facility and often receiving motherless neonatal kittens through our TNR program. Collaboration

Working hand-in-hand with other animal welfare groups and like-minded shelters is part of the solution. We believe in working together for the benefit of the animals and people we serve. Our Rescue Food program provides food, litter, and other pet items to around 100 other non-profit rescues and shelters across Florida and Georgia. Our Community Clinic works hand-in-hand with other rescue organizations to provide services for rescued cats and dogs awaiting their new homes, as well as providing additional veterinary services to the public through grants and donations.

It’s sweater weather! 🥶🐶🧣

Our dogs are bundled up and enjoying the cooler temperatures. We put all of our dogs in jackets during the colder evenings so they are nice and warm. There’s nothing cuter than a dog in a jacket!

Special thanks to our team of kennel techs who keep our animals dressed and comfortable during this time of the year. 🙌❤️

Are you looking for a buddy to go Black Friday shopping with? 🦃🍂

We are looking for foster families who are willing to welcome our animals into their homes during Thanksgiving for our first annual "Home for the Holidays" program!

VOCAL provides all supplies needed for your foster guest like food, leash and collar, beds, litter box, etc. All you have to do is love on them for a few days! This provides the animals with a much-needed break from the stressful life of the shelter and allows our adoption team to learn how they act in a home! Not to mention, they will get to experience the holidays in a loving home for possibly the first time!

You can pick up your furry guest on Tuesday 11/26 and they can return to us Saturday 11/30 (unless you fall in love)!

If you would like to participate in our Home for the Holidays program, please submit a foster profile on our website at vocalforpets.org, email us at [email protected], or call our office at (352)289-0800!

Remember Autumn? 🍁🍂

This sweet girl came to us from Marion County Animal Services a little over a month ago after being shot in the face. She has made an excellent and full recovery and is now available for adoption! She has gotten the opportunity to participate in our Slumber Pawty program!

"She is a great dog! So sweet and affectionate, she loves everyone! She's great with all dogs big or small and undecided on cats for now (but remains very curious) . She had a rough start and was brought in after being shot in her face. But you would never know it!

She is so full of life and love. She's also great with children. She would be the perfect family dog! She just enjoys being wherever you are. And for being so young she is very calm and has no issues with just relaxing and chilling with her people all day.

I have brought her over for a few sleepovers and she is truly a great dog!!"

Autumn is a 1-yr-old female pointer mix and weighs about 45lbs. She is already fixed, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped and kept on monthly preventatives. She gets along with everyone, people, dogs, cats, kids and is soooo sweet!!

If you think Autumn could be the perfect match for your family, email us at [email protected] for more adoption information!

Say hello to our most recent W.O.O.F. Graduates, Todd and Beulah!

W.O.O.F. stands for Women Offering Obedience and Friendship. This program is operated by Patriot Service Dogs and is a 6-8 week course where the dogs learn all of the necessary skills needed to live in a home! The W.O.O.F. Program training is held at Lowell Correctional Center, where the dogs live at the center with the dedicated women who are training them. Todd has already been adopted and is doing wonderfully in his new home!

Beulah is still searching for her perfect match! Beulah is a 6-yr-old female American Bulldog mix and weighs about 50 lbs. While in the W.O.O.F. Program, she learned all of her basic obedience skills like sit, down, heel, come, watch, wait, leave it, place, stay and much more! Her trainers said that she is very food motivated, smart, and eager to please! She is already spayed, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped and kept on monthly preventions.

If you think this super smart and well-behaved girl could be a good match for you, email us at [email protected] for more information!

Why VOCAL?

Voices of Change Animal League, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to solving the homeless pet problem. We believe the first step to ending this problem is to limit the amount of unwanted animals born into the population through spay and neuter initiatives. Educating our community on reasons to spay and neuter their pets, as well as offering these services at a financially feasible price is critical. Working together with other organizations as well as communities is a key component of solving the homeless pet problem; we know we can’t do it alone so collaboration is paramount. Adoption is also a piece of our multi-prong approach. While we hope to always keep animals in their homes through offering outreach programs and shelter diversion resources, sometimes there are animals who have no place else to go and those are the ones we intake into our rescue. We only accept animals from Ocala/Marion County into our adoption program.
