Wolfie had his last ride in his chariot... The sun came out and it was beautiful. He has now crossed the rainbow bridge. Thank you to Dr. Jenni Breder Pruitt, Catherine Ann Van Vliet and all the staff at Airport Road Dvm. And, thank you to everyone for your thoughts. Wolfie loved all of you!

First, thank you to everyone for the thoughts and prayers. Unfortunately, hemangiosarcoma is a HORRIBLE & EVIL CANCER. We fought a good fight, but the war was not winnable. This afternoon I was rushed back to UF after I stopped eating & drinking and started vomiting. The cancer came back quickly and with a vengeance. It launched an attack on my liver and heart... I am bleeding internally. I'm back home tonight, comfortable and enjoying the fresh cut yard. Most likely, I will be crossing the rainbow bridge tomorrow. I always loved to make people smile... Please remember those times and hug you pets tighter tonight. ❤️🐕❤️

11/10 UPDATE: I survived another night in captivity. Actually, they're pretty nice to me here. My blood tests early this morning showed a little improvement in my kidney function - but, not much. I just started the new cardiac meds yesterday afternoon. The blood tests later today were much better! I guess it really was my heart causing all the problems. So I have to stay one more night for further “observation.” But, they already called mom and told her that I can be released early tomorrow morning!!! I can’t wait to go home… I hope the weather is nice so we can have the top down. And, I hope I can get back to the park to see my friends and get the squirrels in check.

11/9 UPDATE: I'm still being held hostage at UF. I started eating a bit (even though it's hospital food) - which they said is good. But when I went out for a walk last night I "collapsed" on the way back in to the building. So, they rushed me into the Emergency Department and admitted me to ICU for various testing. And, mom says that I'm the dramatic one!?!?... I really think that they overreacted. (NOTE FROM MOM: His "collapse" was basically the same thing he did when he got there yesterday morning... Basically tired and not wanting to go in the building.)

In the end, I guess the special attention was actually a good thing. Included in the testing was an echocardiogram and consultation with the cardiac specialists. They were able to determine that I have dilated cardiomyopathy which means that my heart is not pumping efficiently. And, most likely, is causing the strain and issues with my kidneys.

This heart condition is actually a known possible side effect of the chemotherapy treatment. Fortunately, it is something that can be treated and managed with medication - which they are starting me on today.

At this point, I guess I’ll remain a hostage in Gainesville for at least a couple more days while they verify the meds are helping and my kidney values improve. I will also get to wear a special vest for a while after I go home so the doctors can continue to monitor my heart.

I'm hoping to go home by the end of this week. We're not completely out of the woods yet, but I think we have at least found the path. I greatly appreciate everyone's thoughts and prayers... Please keep them coming!

UPDATE: I've had more blood work, x-rays and an ultrasound... I'm perfectly healthy EXCEPT for my kidneys. And they are doing even worse than a week ago. 😔 Unfortunately, the doctors also haven't been able to figure out exactly why yet... So, I have to stay for now. But I did get to spend some time with mom before she left. Keep the prayers coming 🙏!!!

So, I haven't been eating much lately and went to see Dr. Jenni Breder Pruitt last week. She discovered that, while I'm otherwise perfectly healthy, it does appear that I may be having issues with my kidneys. Fortunately, we were able to get in at UF Vet Hospital today for a full check-up and to determine exactly what is going on. When we got here, my sedation meds had fully kicked in and I decided to lay down in the middle of the road - stopping all traffic! A nice student got out of his truck to pick me up and the hospital staff brought out a cart. They should know that I deserve the royal treatment! Please pray for me, that everything goes well and I get back to chasing squirrels tomorrow...

*** THE MUTT DID IT - I BEAT CANCER!!! ***

I spent almost 10 hours at UF Small Animal Hospital yesterday getting my final chemotherapy treatment and full testing/work-up (blood work, urinalysis, x-rays, ultrasound, etc.) The cancer "spots" in my abdomen are gone and there is nothing new (except they did note some mild dental tartar since mom didn't brush my teeth). As the report says, "No evidence of disease."

This is nothing short of a miracle. I sincerely appreciate everyone's prayers and thoughts. I also wanted to thank Robbyn Young & Mason Lusk for their initial assessments; Dr Eric Herman for his specialty treatment; and Dr Jenni Pruitt for all of her care. I could not have done this without all of you.

Granted, I will still have follow-up appointments and this disease could re-appear... But, at this moment, I'm clear and can continue living my life to the fullest!

We made it! I'm ready to check in for my tests and last chemo appointment.
THE MUTT WILL BEAT THIS!

I had my 4 Starbucks egg bites for breakfast... Chased squirrels and ran through the water at the park. Now it's time to rest while mom cleans my car for our trip to Gainesville tomorrow. I'm going for my final chemo treatment and a check-up.
Cancer can't get me!!!
