ADOPTED! Carter came into AGA from a shelter as an unclaimed stray with heartworm and needed a loving home where he could recover. He got to fly on a private plane to get to Atlanta from South Georgia because an amazing volunteer said they knew we would take the best care of him! He is described by everyone he meets as a sweet boy full of love and wants to be near his people all the time. Enter his new family. They were looking for a calm, cuddle bug to join their family and be a friend for their daughter. They have a terrier mix named Elfie who is a little timid so they knew they had to find the perfect match to make sure he felt comfortable and wasn't overwhelmed by a large friend coming into the home. When Carter was brought to their house, he immediately fit right in and Elfie wasn't threatened at all! They saw Carter through his heartworm treatment and now he is officially adopted into their family. He has a human sister to play and snuggle with, a mom who works from home and a dad who is home during the days to exercise and play with. This sweet boy has a great future ahead!

In June 1964, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was placed in the back seat of a police car in St. Augustine, FL. A police dog was put into the car with him in an apparent attempt to intimidate King. Instead, the two promptly became friends. Today we honor the great man the legacy of love and unity he left behind.

ADOPTED: Boris pup was adopted by our very own volunteer and previous adopter and her husband. They had been looking for some puppy love after losing their sweet AGA Turkey dog, Indy. Boris' mom came to AGA from a breeder and surprise, surprise, Boris came to AGA waiting to be born and ready to be adopted! They were very excited about meeting and adopting Boris and could not wait for him to be eight weeks old so they could bring him home! They live in Illinois so as soon as Boris was ready, they made the trip down to Georgia and drove home with their brand-new puppy! Boris is now Winston, and he has a mom and dad who are home all the time, a fenced-in yard to run and play in, not to mention all the snow to play in during the wintertime, a human sister, and lots of love every day! Welcome home, Winston, you are going to live the best life!

ADOPTED: Rose has been adopted by four-time previous adopters! Rose came to AGA from a breeder in 2023 after the family that adopted her returned her due to a change in living situation. The breeder reached out to AGA, and we gladly accepted her. Rose was adopted after coming to AGA during the summer of 2023, but things did not work out and they returned her in May of last year. Rose had some special needs, and it took AGA some time to find the best fit for her where she could thrive. Along came her new family who have now adopted 5 dogs from AGA, and they had all the things that Rose needed to be happy. Rose settled in almost immediately, but we wanted to give it some time before proceeding with adoption to make sure Rose was home for good this time. To say they were dog-savvy and willing to handle all that Rose had to offer would be an understatement. Rose has hit the jackpot with her new family and they are so in love with her. Rose now has parents who are home all the time, a big, fenced backyard with a swimming pool, and human sisters who love on her constantly! Welcome home, sweet Rose!

ADOPTED: Lou has been adopted by our very own long-time volunteer and many-time previous adopter! Lou came to AGA from a breeder in early September. It was finally time for Lou to stop birthing babies and live a life indoors with love and attention. However, surprise, surprise, she had one more litter to birth. Sweet and shy Lou was pregnant when coming to AGA, so we had to wait until the puppies were old enough to be weaned to find Lou's forever home. Poor Lou had a rough start to life, and we knew we had to find the right home for her so she could finally be a dog and be happy. Along came her new mom who was looking for a very special dog after losing her sweet AGA Marley. Mom and her little Macey, also known as an AGA orphan mentor to foster dogs, were missing Marley, so they set out to find the right match. When she met Lou, she immediately knew she was the one. Now mom and Macey just had to wait a few weeks for Lou to be able to come home with them. Fast forward and Lou, now Lou-Lou, was worth the wait! Lou-Lou is very much enjoying her retirement and new family. She has a mom who is home all the time, a big, fenced backyard with a swimming pool, lots of trails to explore on walks, endless toys, soft dog beds, and Macey to give her the K-9 company she needs. Congratulations to Lou-Lou!

ADOPTED: Lily is finally living the good life. Lily came to AGA back in November from a breeder. It was time for Lily to retire from birthing babies and live a life of relaxation. Our very own volunteer and previous adopter had been looking for a new dog to add to her home after losing her sweet Golden, Sophie at 14 years old. Her new mom and Holly set out to find the right match. Holly is getting older and can be a little particular when it comes to other dogs, so it was going to take a very special puppy. Sweet Lily fit right in and was instantly at home! Lily now has a mom who is home all the time, a fenced-in yard to run and play in, AGA Holly to show her the ropes, a soft dog bed to sleep on, daily walks, and lots of love! Congratulations sweet Lily!

ADOPTED: When Benny’s owner realized their allergies couldn’t handle him, they turned to AGA to find this sweet 9-month-old mini Goldendoodle the perfect home. Benny, a playful and affectionate pup, loves cuddles, walks, and greeting everyone with his wagging tail. His new family, longtime Doodle enthusiasts, were searching for the perfect mini addition to their home. From the first meeting, it was clear, Benny had found his forever family. Benny now has a Doodle sibling to play with, joins the family on 3-mile walks to show off his A+ leash skills, and burns off his puppy energy at the local dog park. Welcome home, Benny!

ADOPTED: Ollie was a stray that thankfully found his way to Adopt a Golden. Ollie was a sweet dog but we quickly learned he really preferred to be the only dog so he could have all of his humans attention. While he met a few prospective families, they just weren't the right fit until his new mom and dad finally came along! They met Ollie at Meet and Match and the rest is history. Ollie will now have loads of attention with 2 humans that work from home. They made sure he was all set with a new bed, toys, bowls and food before he came home and he settled in quite nicely. Ollie is living his best golden life now!

Pupdate from Cooper "Chungus" Jourdan!
Hi there! I’m Cooper, though my parents call me “Chungus” or “Chungy.” Not totally sure what it means, but I think it’s their way of saying I’m a big deal!
I was adopted on October 12, 2024, so today is a double celebration: my three-month gotcha-day anniversary and my fourth birthday! 🎉🐾 I settled into my new home right away and even convinced my parents to upgrade to a king-size bed because, naturally, I like to sleep right in the middle.
These days, I love roaming our backyard, going on long walks, and soaking up all the cuddles I can get. One of my favorite activities is sitting by the windows, keeping a close eye on the neighborhood squirrels. My life goal? Catch one! (Though, let’s be honest—I’d have no clue what to do if I ever did.) For now, chasing them out of my backyard is enough excitement for me.
A huge thank you to AGA for helping me find my forever family. My mama and papa say they couldn’t be happier, and I feel the same way! ❤️

ADOPTED: Satin, a sweet 4-year-old golden retriever mix, has found her perfect home! Satin came to AGA with Sabine, the two were found lost and wandering North Georgia. Sabine was adopted in September, and after months of waiting, Satin’s journey has led her to her furever family! Satin now has two young human siblings who absolutely adore her and a playful furry sister, Daisy, to share adventures with. From snuggles to games of fetch and playtime with Daisy, Satin is already thriving in her new home. Her sweet personality, and playful spirit have made her the perfect addition to the Gleason family. Thank you to everyone who helped Satin along the way, including her patient and devoted foster - she’s finally living her best life!

ADOPTED: Brownie has found her forever home! Brownie came to us with some behavioral challenges, and after being returned from her first foster-to-adopt placement, we knew it would take a special home to help her thrive. As fate would have it, Brownie’s foster suggested she needed a calm environment with a single woman who was home often - and not long after, her new mom applied to adopt! She amazingly checked every single box on the foster's "wish list" for Brownie's perfect home. Her new mom was patient, and understanding, and knew right away that Brownie was meant to be hers. With some AGA in-house training and lots of love, Brownie’s behavior has improved so much, and the two of them couldn’t be happier. Their story reminds me that every dog truly has a perfect match waiting for them!
