501C3 Volunteer based Rescue for Great Pyrenees dogs in the PNW & Montana! $275 per adoption for 1yr+ • $400 per puppy under a year! Adopt, don't shop!
(34)
We operate under the guidance and umbrella of National Great Pyrenees Rescue, a 501C3 non-profit organization and in 2023 became a 501C3 ourselves. There is an adoption fee on the dogs that come through our organization - even though we are all volunteers and do not receive pay, we have expenses for the dogs - vet bills, transport is not always free, sometimes we provide feed for foster homes, eve
n printer ink - but we keep everything to a minimum, including our adoption fees. Our "standard" fee is $275, it may be less for a dog who will require meds or is significantly older, would be more for a puppy, usually $400, etc. We do require adequate fencing - yes, these dogs like to roam - and that is the point of the fencing requirement.

The Red Lodge 5 (now 4 since Thor has been adopted) were starved and found on remote property in an electrified pen with no food or water. Despite their rough start, they're all still so sweet. They are gaining weight and doing amazing! 4 of them are spay/neutered now, Peaches needs to get spayed! Thank you for all the support!
After 2+ years at our rescue, Pyper is free. Free from kennel life. Free from the rescue life. She's home. The people who adopted our long time pair Proto and Vala, have adopted Pyper. She will have a safe, separated area and a stay at home retired dad to give her unlimited love plus an amazing new dog mama who's amazing and will do anything to make it work.
What a blessing! ADOPT, DON'T SHOP!

Peaches - Available for Adoption
Peaches is one of 5 dogs who came to us from a sad situation out of Red Lodge, MT (Carbon County). Someone called in an extreme case of neglect and several dogs who looked under weight and neglected on property. She is very sweet. We need to cat test her. Not sure about live stock. She does not like being alone, big people dog! She is UTD on vaccines and needs to be spayed.
Are you patient?
Do you like under bites?
Are you looking for your new best friend?
Roo needs a special person to adopt or foster him. He's in that rescue stage of life where he's scared of everything. There's a great dog in there but he's had a rough start and is a sensitive guy. He's not aggressive at all. He was around kids and livestock at a prior foster. He's the sweetest guy! Neutered, UTD on vaccines and ready to go!
Harley is available for adoption! This sweet girl was part of the starved Red Lodge 5 crew. She's been spayed and is UTD on all vaccines. She is pretty docile and calm like shown in this video. She's maybe 2 years old and has had a litter of puppies. She did go on a hike with some volunteers and met horses and other dogs and did great. She is at Old Farm Kennels in Florence, MT and would appreciate a ride around town or hike!

We had so many people who fell in love with Roo when we introduced him but no one has stepped up to foster. Is there anyone in the Bitterroot or Missoula who would be willing to foster him?
He's not doing well with his cone on in the kennel but he does need to stay there until it comes off and he is off of the antibiotics. (He was neutered and had some complications and is on antibiotics).
Fosters, we pay for food and you get unlimited snuggles! Please someone step up for this boy!

Beary- Senior 8 year old Golden Retriever/Pyr mix looking for a soft, quiet place to land. He's currently located in Las Vegas, NV. His mom is moving to Alaska and her dad is 76 years old and in poor health and can't take care of him. He needs UTD vaccines. He's been with small dogs (not sure about big dogs). Unsure on cats, will find out more! He needs a foster before Sept 27th!
Look at this sweet face! ♥️

Meet Little Jo and brother to Roo! They came from the extreme neglect case out of Red Lodge, MT. 5 dogs total rescued by the sheriff. They are Great Pyrenees/Kangal but resemble labs too! About 7 months old maybe 9 months. They're VERY sweet, skittish, scared and neglected. They warm right up to humans! They are UTD and neutered!
PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A TRUE RESCUE SITUATION - we don't know a ton about them. We have no idea how they are with other dogs, your pet lizard, goats, farm animals, chickens, your cats. We have no idea yet! We are just getting to know these babies!

And now for some good news regarding Great Pyrenees Rescue Montana.....
I know that some of you recent adopters have been waiting to receive your Adoption Agreements - first I had some personal things delaying them BUT now we have a WONDERFUL and very experienced person, Juliette Martine, updating not only our webpage but also our database.
These updates include not only Volunteer Applications but very shortly our Adoption Agreements - all to bring us more up to date technologically but also to make life easier for you and for us too :)
Please be patient - it will be well worth the wait :)
Carole
(Thank you to Barb Mattson and others who suggested Juliette to us)

Bonnie needs a new foster immediately! Even if you can take her for a week!
Bonnie waited almost a year to find her furever family, she lived in my garage and we rotated the house to keep her happy and now her world has come crashing down again, only, I cannot take her back and I feel like a HUGE FAILURE to her! Since she found her furever family I have made modifications to my home and I now have a doggy door for my pack to go and come as they need to. Before we could secure them and give Bonnie the run of the yard. Additionally, I can’t stand the thought of her having to once again live in my garage! I cried every day knowing I could not bring her inside to be a fulltime part of my pack because she didn’t get along with my female dogs. And when I say I cried, ask Sarah and Rebecca, I mean I bawled my eyes out. I love her so much and my heart is completely crushed right now.
Please, I’M BEGGING! SOMEONE HELP US BY FOSTERING HER!!!!! It might be short term but could be long term while her new mommy figures out her situation. She can be in a home with no other animals or she can be on a home with another male dog that’s submissive. She has liked other female dogs that are submissive and non reactive especially if they need a momma bear, Bonnie is a natural nurturing mommy and mentor. She can feel when someone is grieving. She resource guards and can be fed separately with no issues and will share a water bowl. She is good with people with slow introductions. You just need to be respectful of her timeline. Let her feel comfortable with you and she will love you forever. PLEASE HELP ITS URGENT AND SHE IS NOT SAFE IN HER CURRENT SITUATION!!!! SHE NEEDS TO MOVE NOW!!!!

I am very sorry to report that Magnus’s stomach flipped while at the vet. He was still under sedation and I unfortunately needed to give them permission to let him go.
Poor sweet boy, we are so very sorry but also glad that you will have no more suffering.
RIP 🙏

Sweet senior babies in the Bitterroot Valley

5:12p.m. Sept. 16 - I received a call a few minutes ago that Magnus is very bad off. A friend of Apple Wimsolet apparently is close enough to the shelter where he is that she will go get him today and get him to a vet. It sounds as though he needs extensive urgent care - they sent a video of him and he looks horrible - much worse than in the former picture - so I suggest prayers for this poor boy. Carole
Sept. 16 - Apple Wimsolet is working on his transport, his release is planned from the shelter tomorrow and someone will hold him for a few days until transport is arranged. There is no way to answer all of the emails and messages coming in, sorry. Carole, GPRM
THIS HAS BEEN HANDLED! HES BEING RESCUED
Please help us

Little Joe is ready to go!
These 5 came to us from a sad situation out of Red Lodge, MT (Carbon County). Someone called in an extreme case of neglect and several dogs who looked under weight and neglected on property. The Sheriff found 5 dogs - 2 females and 3 males that were in fact neglected and underweight. They told the man either he is charged with neglect and animal abuse or he surrenders the dogs. With hesitation, he surrendered the dogs to the sheriff. The local shelter took them in and immediately called us. None of them are fixed, they are UTD on vaccines now and gaining weight after being in a foster for a week.
Little Joe is 7-8 months old, best guess. He is shy and sweet. He warmed right up to people when treats were presented and wags his tail. We do not know anything really about them as this is a true rescue case. So we are not sure if he's good with cats, kids, chickens, birds, farm animals etc. We are just learning about these guys. He will need a lot of love and support. He's an Old Farm Kennels in Florence, MT. Please submit an application and call the kennel before coming to meet him! Thank you!

More info from Roo's first foster over in Red Lodge...
"I can verify that Roo is fantastic with kids and horses. He did not bother my chickens and he didn't try to escape my fencing. He did not get much leash training as he would not leave my side so we just walked."
