Bully sticks have become a popular all-natural chew, but they aren’t perfect. When given in a responsible way, bully sticks can make a healthy and delicious treat for your dog. Here are 5 must know facts about giving bully sticks in a responsible way:

🐶 Bully sticks are beef *pizzle*, make sure you order for quality and not quantity. Pizzle must be drained and cleaned properly to avoid bacteria.

🐶 Look out for harsh chemicals that “eliminate” odor - instead, look for bully sticks that are baked at extreme temperatures to reduce odor.

🐶 Bully sticks are hard and become soft and stringy when your dog chews on them. Once chewed, they are easily digestible (and the stringy-ness acts a bit like floss).

🐶 If your dog swallows a piece of un-chewed bully stick, these hard pieces can be a choking risk or worse - cause intestinal blockages. Be sure to use a bully stick holder to prevent your dog from swallowing an un-chewed piece.

🐶 The amount of bully stick you should give your dog depends on your dogs size and other food intake. Bully sticks are high in protein but can add up in calories as well - so be sure to monitor the amount of food you are giving your dog in total. If you are unsure how many bully sticks to give your dog, always consult with your vet.
