Imagine this is happening in your garden.
Imagine you're not allowed to touch or even get too close...
Imagine your mum opening the window to let in these sounds, that make you crazy...
I hate my life.

So Mum bought this bird villa.
She hoped a couple of blue t**s or great t**s would sign a lease form.
Great t**s it is.
So last week the chicks hatched and now Mr and Mrs Titmouse are coming and going every 30 seconds to feed their offspring.
That's all good and well, but it attracts other cats to OUR garden.
We hate that!
Anyway, today mum let me watch the activity and listen to the yummy, juicy, delicious, helpless babybirds in there.
The sounds made my mouth water.
But I was NOT allowed to investigate.
How unfair is that?!!

We've trained our humans well.

I guess mum felt guilty about petting Ginger yesterday (as she should!)
So this morning I was allowed to accompany her in the vegetable garden!
I wasn't allowed to roam free, God forbid I should eat too many plants.
But I was allowed to go bee watching with mum for half an hour.

Bee watching turned out to be less glamorous than I anticipated. Frankly, it got boring after a while. Mum is such a nerd. "See that Mocca? Another bee!"
Yes, Mum. It looks the same as the other 362 you pointed out to me.

Oh well at least I got plenty of head scratches while we sat there in the sun together.

This is Ginger, our neighbour.
As you can see, Ginger is eating roots and garden cutoffs, pretending this is normal cat food. I suppose Ginger has that red cat energy, and she shares one braincell with other red cats in the neighbourhood. Today was obviously not her day with the braincell.
But what's really alarming: she's in Mum's vegetable garden! What the hell is she doing in our garden?!
Even if we're not allowed in the garden, IT'S STILL OUR GARDEN!
Why is this nitwit of a cat with the brain of a houseplant allowed to venture out while we are destined for a life as indoor cats?!!!
Not fair!

Sitting in the sun while getting brushed by Daddy.
Life doesn't get much better than this!

During the day, Mum calls this seat our throne but after dinner she calls it her chair and says we can "share" with her. By sharing she means she basically occupies our entire throne, and we can sit on her lap.
Where's the fairness in that?

So we came up with a brilliant tactic: we try to look as cute and sleepy as possible so her conscience will get the better of her and she'll let us be and sit her ass somewhere else.

When Mum and Dad adopted Coco, Cupcake was still a kitten of 6 months. I was still nursing her.
Coco was 3 months old at the time, and I decided he needed a mother figure, so I welcomed him as my new baby.
But he never grew out of his baby behaviour. Always following me around, asking me to groom him.
I couldn't nap by myself, I couldn't even take a sip of water without him sticking his fat face in the water bowl with me. Even when using the litter box, he would be right outside, asking me if I was pooping, if he could come in.
No concept of purrsonal space whatsoever.

Cupcake hated him, hissed at him and avoided him and I never knew why, since he was friendly enough, even if he wasn't very bright.
But now that he's gone, I think she was jealous.
She can once again share a chair with me and get groomed by me.
And she has converted to being a lapcat, she's on Mum's lap every evening, just like Coco used to be.
Mum and Dad are happy about the changes in Cupcake, even if they miss their little boy.
And I'm glad I have someone to cuddle up with during those long cold winter's nights.

This morning something really strange happened. Mum gave me a very special liquid treat.
It smelled delicious, and Mocca got some too, but then I realised that
1 My portion was bigger.
2 We were not allowed to swap.

Hmmmm... they had drugged me before, in a similar fashion. Mocca has always told me not to do drugs or else, so I decided not to touch it.

But then Mum cooked some liver for us and I forgot all about being vigilant. So stupid of me.
I didn't eat all of it but apparently it was enough to make me just sufficiently drowsy to let them catnap me and we were off to the dreaded vet before I knew what was happening.
The vet enlisted the help of a lady with pretty weird fashion gloves and together they had the audacity to clip my nails and shave my fur where it was matted. THE NERVE!!
I haven't decided on any revenge strategies yet but I'll think of something. Sh*tty humans!!

Mum decided to do a portrait today. You'd think she'd do me. After all, I am the center of the universe for a reason.
But no, she did Cupcake.
I know Cupcake is pretty and all that, after all, I birthed her.
But if you did ONE portrait, surely you'd do mine, right?
I feel hurt.

So, Mum got ANOTHER flu!
SO considerate of her.
She was so cosy and warm but the endless coughing was pretty inconsiderate if you ask me, it woke me at least a hundred times.
But even so, cuddling up with her when she's so inactive and warm is wonderful.
But her temperature went down (not all the way, she's still alive, I checked), and now she wants to occasionally move around for a couple of minutes.
I did not approve of this!
For one thing, she wobbles when she walks, she's still very unstable on her feet. For another, I quite appreciate the arrangement of the two of us in her reclining chair under a blanket all day.
But she even got dressed for no good reason and now she decided to spin yarn for a few minutes.
No. I think not!
So I decided to prevent such nonsense by sitting on her lap.
She immediately got the hint and abandoned the idea of spinning yarn.
She even thanked me for talking some sense into her flu-fogged brain.
Between the two of us, I'm definitely the smart one.
