I recently dropped some hand-painted aprons and bags in my Etsy store! They have guinea pigs (cavies), rabbits, and one has a rooster! These are all one-of-a-kind originals, so when they are gone, they are gone.

I hope to make some more items for Arizona Convention, February 17-18, 2024 (Casa Grande, AZ).

This Thanksgiving, we are thankful for so many things! Among them, we're grateful for all of the wonderful friends and critters we have had through the years, the few special critters who are living their best lives in retirement, and for our continued friendships in the fancy. Although we no longer breed, show, or sell rabbits and cavies, Judy continues to volunteer with the Grand Canyon State Cavy Club. She is actively pursuing her artistic endeavors, which include many critter-related items. If you'll be at the December 2 show in Tucson, AZ, please come and visit us! 😊 Wishing you the best at Thanksgiving and always!

We have been busy this summer, but I’m back at the drawing board - literally! Finished painting this cute pig’s portrait on an apron last night! Working on adding items to our Desert Trillium store on Etsy. There’s not much available yet, but that will change in the coming weeks! We have some exciting new offerings coming up! After some discussion, we have decided to stop breeding and showing cavies. This decision was based on Ginny’s age and other demands for her time and my launching Desert Trillium, jewelry and art.

We currently have two American broken sows available: Chamomile (show quality, Lemon Agouti/Cream/White proven sow) and Kore (PET Quality - Should not be bred - Lemon Agouti/Cream/White)

First come, first served for these two! Please let us know via PM if you’re interested!

This pup is big enough that he will be shown on December 7th! 🤩 He will be available, along with Kore’s baby boar (when he turns 4 weeks old - a little over a week). Kore’s 3 pups are too small for this show, but all are developing nicely! The little Satin sow is very pretty! 💖

Caspian is still available as well, and will also be shown this Saturday.

We will also be showing Ginny’s senior sow who won Reserve in Show last month!

We hope to see a lot of cavies there! (Early entry closes at Midnight tonight!)

Techno Pig pupped this morning! She had a huge singleton (143 grams / 5 oz!), and both she and the pup are doing well. 💖 Pup is Lemon Agouti and White, and has a very pretty head. This is the third pup born from Jordan Hollows Northern Spies, and we like how the outcross has turned out so far! (Our first sow by Northern Spies took fourth place and Reserve in Show in Open in her first show this past Saturday!)

Kore is due any minute! (Enclosure was cleaned yesterday, but Kore is “going” for herself and her pups! Please pardon the p**p!)

We are watching Kore closely, as she and Techno are both first-time Moms.

We expect to have the pups’ first show as the Arizona Convention, February 18-19! Hope to see you in Casa Grande then!

We are excited about these two sows who are due with pups fathered by Jordan Hollow’s Northern Spies! We’re thinking the lilac/cream agouti and white sow, Techno Pig, will probably have 1-2 pups. Any guesses on how many pups Kore (lemon agouti/cream/white) will have?

Sunday snoozing! 🥰 Chamomile built up a cozy nest and is OUT! Her eyes are open, but she’s asleep. (Guinea pigs have multiple eyelids.) She is due soon, so the deep bed of chips feels good to her!

Mariposa and Chamomile look like they are getting close to pupping! We have been supplementing with a little alfalfa in addition to the romaine lettuce. Tonight, we added some bell pepper, which is a great source of vitamin C. (They get an Oxbow vitamin C tab each morning. A couple of days ago, Chamomile was jumping up and down to try to get hers faster!) We are excited to meet these new little ones!

We will be taking Caspian to the December 3rd show in Tucson, AZ. He is available, and with pups coming soon, we need the space for them. Please let us know if you are interested in him! Hope to see a lot of cavy folks at the show!

Saw a post that there were only 7 cavies raffled off to help fund youth programs at ARBA Convention! We are proud to have provided one of those seven! Hope Snickers has a wonderful new home! 🥰💜

We took some pictures of this handsome fellow, named “Snickers.” He will be on his way to ARBA Convention, as a donation to the Youth Raffle. He’s the first boar out of Chamomile by the boar from Jordan Hollow (Denise Roberts Wesselenyi). We were going to send Caspian, but this guy is looking so good, we decided to send him instead! 😊 Hope someone who breeds and shows snaps him up!

The pups grew a lot while I was away! 🤩 Mariposa’s pup, Milk Dud, is a sow, and is Golden Agouti, Red, and White. Chamomile’s boar pup is the one with no patch over one eye. He’s Lemon Agouti, Cream, and White. He has a small cream patch on one side of his face, and then a larger (aka “Showable size”) cream patch on his rear end, leg, and underside. He has moved in with Phoenix, Ginny’s old, wonderful boar, and they are getting along great! We are calling him Snickers and he will be probably be available.

Pups are so active, they’re hard to photograph! 😁 They are looking really good! 💖 Mariposa and Chamomile have bounced back well, and are obviously enjoying being Moms. I’ll post video clips in the near future.

Chamomile pupped today! 💖 As with Mariposa, Chamomile had one live pup. This baby is already eating hay and greens! It has one eye patch, and cream at the chin of that eye patch and on its rear end. Otherwise, it is some dilute agouti and white. Chamomile is such an amazing mother! We have a very happy caviary with two healthy Moms and two healthy pups! 💖🥰

Little pup is now known as “Milk Dud!” 😊 It’s nursing a lot (despite its name) and is growing quickly! Mariposa is lavishing it with attention, like the incredible Mom she is. 💖 Chamomile has been getting bigger, and pups still are moving around. We keep thinking, “It just HAS to be today!” So far, she’s proving us wrong! 😆 She is still active and healthy, so we’re not worried yet. But it just HAS to be soon! 🤷🏼‍♀️ Enjoy some photos from the past couple of days. 🥰

Mariposa’s pup continues to grow and learn. It’s very cute and shiny. We think it might be a Satin American! We aren’t sure about the colors yet - we see red and white for certain - but we’re not sure if the darker patch on the left side of the face and on the rear are golden Agouti or chocolate agouti. We’ll have to wait a little until the pup grows a bit. Pup is eating all kinds of solid foods, and is drinking from the water bottle. Mariposa has bounced back so quickly! We are thrilled that she is also doing so well. 💖

Chamomile has not pupped yet! Pups are moving, but have not been released. Hopefully, that will happen tonight or early tomorrow. When Chamomile has her pups, we’ll post it here! 😊

Mariposa pupped this evening! Here is a first look at her very pretty pup! 💖 Both Mum and pup are doing well. Chamomile has tried numerous times to steal the pup, so we are ALL hoping she will have her own soon! 😁

Still waiting for pups! Ginny handled them very carefully at cage cleaning. (They’re so squishy!) Fortunately, they did not need their nails trimmed. They nestled down into the new chips to make their resting spots. When I moved close to get a picture, Mariposa trundled over to stand in front of Chamomile! (I think Mariposa was trying to protect her, not intercept any treats I may have!) 😆

We’re expecting a big storm with flash floods tonight and tomorrow, so we bought greens today. The sows are snugged into their new nests, bellies full of greens. Maybe they’ll decide to deliver during the storm? We discussed the idea of a we**am, but are afraid it might go like April the giraffe.

The pig with hay in the enclosure is the father of these unborn pups. It‘s hard to see, but he burrowed under the chips and piled them up in the middle and edges to create a “tunnel” covered thinly with hay! 🤣 He is a real sweetie, and quite the character! 💜 We wonder what these pups will be like! 🥰

Cage cleaning day for these two very pregnant sows! They have a deep layer of chips, and have formed their nests. Their nails were clipped last week, so those didn’t need attention this week. There’s so much extra weight on their feet and legs! In addition to greens, we are giving them some alfalfa each day (twice a day) and a few dried split peas. They have orchard grass hay, too. We supplement with Vitamin C chips, as well. We know the pups were chattering their teeth, so they are within a few weeks of being born! 💖

Happy Guinea Pig Appreciation Day! We hope you are celebrating with your furry potatoes! Ours will be getting an extra green treat and pats today. Our two pregnant sows will be checked again at cage cleaning so we don’t handle them more than needed. Will post pictures later! Enjoy your day! 💖

Apologies to our fine, furry Fathers for being late in celebrating their Father’s Day! RSC Phoenix was Ginny’s first boar, and was her 4-H Showmanship and breeding boar. The two won many ribbons, and at one show, he won Best of Breed and she won Best Cavy Showman! He passed his calm, cool temperament onto his pups. Some of his pups and grand pups are still going strong on the show table, in Showmanship, or are now in breeding programs. He is also awesome with young boars, even if they are not his! We love this big guy so much, and he has a nice retirement “home” inside our house. 🥰

We have some exciting news to share! We have a new boar from Jordan Hollow (Denise Robertson Wesselenyi)! This cutie has been with Mariposa and Chamomile since early May, and we are anticipating pups around the end of July or early August! He is a bit camera shy, but hopefully we’ll break him of that soon. Shouting out to Denise for making him available to us, and for Amy Kanuchok for picking him up and bringing him home to AZ! 💖
