Riesenschnauzers von Reh Bach We are planning two litters for 2025. One will be from two working police K9s, and one is a repeat of Falco x Monkey.

This will be Monkey's last litter, and if you haven't gotten one of these super smart pups for your family, don't miss out on this one!

We are at the vet office to get tails docked and dew claws removed today. It needs to be done at 3- 5 days. Today is day 4.

Our normal vet is out of town, so I use our back up vet office. He looks at the puppies in the box.

Vet: I can't dock tails on pups over five days old.

Me: They are four days old today.

Vet: (Looks at me with a questioning eye, like I might be fibbing)

Me: (show him the photo of the weight chart)

Vet: Oh my! They are going to be monsters! Well they sure are super nice pups.

♥️🐾LITTER ANNOUNCEMENT🐾♥️

Monkey decided to skip the normal pre-birth rituals: going off food for at least 12 hours; nesting for a couple days; and a drop in temperature.

We expected puppies Sunday (maybe Saturday), but she decided this morning was the perfect day. 😁

Say hello to the happy, healthy "H litter" by Affe von Reh Bach x Falco vom Biestal (affectionately known as Monkey and Falco).

Six big beautiful babies sure to turn into roly poly babies with the great amount of milk Monkey always produces.

Three boys: orange, blue, green
Three girls: pink, red, purple

Her last litter has had rave reviews on their trainability, so we expect great things from them as well. They can't help but be super smart, when they have two parents that are freakishly intelligent. ♥️🐾♥️

It is so exciting the breed is finally getting the recognition it deserves. Congratulations to Monty! 🎉🎉

But now we go into the next chapter. With so much publicity, there are bound to be more people discovering the breed.

If you are considering a Giant Schnauzer, please, please do your research. While they are an amazing breed, they are not for everyone. In fact, they aren't the breed for a lot of people.

If you own a Giant Schnauzer, you probably already get attention in public. But now, you are likely to get even more. If you love this breed just half as much as I do, it's important we protect this breed. For me, that means scrutinizing potential homes even closer. It means sharing more on this page, and creating a website, to educate those curious about the breed.

For all of you, it means when given the opportunity, share what it's like to own a Giant Schnauzer, and be honest - the good, the bad, the ugly 😁. Be honest so people understand how slow the breed grows, the limited strenuous exercise during young growth, the piranha phase (and how loooong it can last 😂), grooming needs, how much they eat, how much training and exercise they require, etc. Be honest. It could make the difference on whether or not a Giant ends up in a shelter.

We all must also share how extremely important it is to find a reputable breeder, because they will be coming out of the woodwork. Backyard breeders will try to mass produce these dogs, in an effort to capitalize on the current spotlight for purely financial reasons. And that will result in even more giant schnauzers in shelters.

It's important we protect this breed that we love so much!

I am happy to have 2024 behind us, and excited about the possibilities of 2025.

Last year we were so excited to finally have the time to commit to a litter. Unfortunately, halfway through Monkey's pregnancy, Rob was diagnosed with cancer, and began treatment the same day the pups turned two weeks old. Cancer touches so many lives, so I'm sure most of you can understand the fear and uncertainty that we faced. Due to reduced immunity, Rob was unable to help with the puppies. Sickness, fatigue, and weakness also hit him hard. While the pups were happy and healthy and having a blast with the run of the backyard, I fell short of my normal efforts. I failed to take my typical copious amount of notes on their development. I didn't build the obstacle course. I didn't lay out multiple flooring surfaces for them to play on. I didnt take them on walks in the pasture, or do extensive loud sound desensitizing that I normally do. While regret still weighs on me for those shortcomings, my priority was trying to make Rob as comfortable as possible and supporting him through treatment, and post treatment. So I want to take this time to thank everyone who stepped up and helped us with this litter.

The highs of 2024...

Most important, is that in December we learned that Rob is cancer free.

Then, there were all the school kids that Pinky helped. She always seems to understand whether a child needs her to be close by, or lay/push into them to help them reset their day. She continues to break down the walls of kids as an SRO K9, and helps me build relationships with more kids. She has become a staple on testing days, to relieve stress and frustration of kids. I am now using 30 minutes of one-on-one training time with her as an additional prize they offer for kids rewards/contests.

Falco and I went through a six week K9 Handler course and he was certified in Patrol Obedience and Narcotics detection.

For 2025...
We are currently breeding to an outside female, K9 Tali (Panzer x Sig baby), to Falco. The toy and hunt drive of these two is off the charts and we expect great things from these pups!! If you have a need for a true working dog, please let me know so we can get you on the wait list.

We hope to have a litter out of Monkey and Falco. These two have produced some great pups that are highly intelligent and very trainable. We have started a wait list for them as well so be sure to reach out if you want your name added to the list.

I am currently training to get another IGP title for Ryelee, and certify Falco in tracking and building clearing. I hope to get one of our dogs certified in fi****ms detection to be used at the school, and that odor training begins next week.

I want to thank everyone who reached out with encouraging words, prayed for us, and helped out with the puppies. I feel truly blessed!

I would like to donate a pup to a law enforcement department this year. If you or your department are interested, please reach out now. Not only does this breed have phenomenal noses, but they are mentally stable, and very intelligent. The bonus, is they are perfect for those people who want to be a K9 handler, but are allergic to dogs 😁.

Happy New Year!

Know your dog. Trust your dog.

Around 9:00 last night Falco started barking. I instantly knew it was a "visitor". But as I ran to grab the flashlight, I knew from his bark/tone it was the slithery kind of visitor. He was trying to grab this baby copperhead, and I had to wrap my arms around him and pull him back while Rob shot it. I HATE this time of year!! I feel like adult copperheads tend to avoid our yard, but this time of year, copperheads are giving live birth and the babies feed on cicadas under the trees. An adult can give birth to 2-18. Every late July, early August, these babies show up and I worry all night about the dogs being safe. So when I see one baby, knowing there could be another one or up to 18 more , it makes me so nervous. So now I'm going back to my routine of bringing all the dogs in around 9pm and waking up to let them out about 2...when feeding time subsides.

This boy is such a silly mess! I only thought he was worn out enough to sit still for photos 😁
