Rocky & Rusko Rocky & Rusko! We're here to make you smile, promote responsible ownership and be advocates for the world's most misunderstood breed.

The reason we started this page is to promote shelter dogs, raise money for rescues and shelters, and to show the world that Pit Bulls really one of the coolest breeds out there. We adopted Rusko in 2010 from irresponsible owners. Rusko is the brown hound mix (mutt) that is a very independent guy and probably won't have his picture on here as much because he doesn't like his picture taken

;) He was adopted from the Boulder Humane Society from a friend of a friend. Rusko was only 8 weeks old after being dumped off at a shelter in Oklahoma by his first set of owners. They wanted to sell him but they couldn't so they dumped him and left him to die. He had mange and was just a sick little guy. His time was up at the Oklahoma shelter so the lovely volunteers there asked around if someone could take him to another shelter so they didn't have to euthanize him. Somehow they got in contact with a truck driver who said they would bring him to the next shelter he found which happened to be the Boulder Humane Society. That friend of a friend (let's say his name is John) adopted him a few weeks after he arrived at the Humane Society. He only had him for a few days before he decided he peed and pooped too much! Imagine that...a puppy needing to go to the bathroom! So he told our friend that he was going to take him back to the shelter first thing in the morning! Thankfully, our friend knew that I would not be okay with that and he brought him to me! That was our first rescue dog and he is the funniest guy ever. He loves to sit outside, chase squirrels and play with tennis balls.

4 years later comes Rocky baby! We are volunteers for a few different rescue groups and shelters here in Colorado and one of the rescues kept posting about this adorable white Pit Bull that was sitting in a boarding facility. Week after week he kept showing up on the email thread "dogs in need"....and his picture just absolutely melted our hearts. After a few weeks we decided we would foster him to at least get him out of the boarding facility. We are so incredibly grateful we made that decision because Rocky has completely changed our lives. Rocky was dumped at the Denver Animal Shelter on Christmas Day 2013 by his horrible owners. Who knows what happened to make them do such a thing but luckily at some point in his life he was in foster care for Animal Rescue of the Rockies (one of the rescues we volunteer for) and Rocky had a microchip tagged to them. So right away ARR (Animal Rescue of the Rockies) picked him and up and placed him in a boarding facility because they did not have any open foster homes for him to go to. We fostered Rocky for 4 months before we decided that he was mean to be our baby. He gives us so much happiness and joy and teaches us so much every single day. Rocky does have his issues (he's very reactive and has severe fear aggression) but as you will tell from this page we are working on it day by day. Rocky's favorite activities are snuggling, napping and eating!
