Are my kitties bonded ? And how can I know if it’s ok to separate them

My bf found some kitties about 2 months ago. He adopted one (the dilute calico)and we’ve been fostering the other (the black one). We already have an adopter for the black baby but we’ve kept them together this whole time because we needed them to get big enough to get fixed, per the recommendation of the foster I reached out to for support.

The babies have gotten super close - they sleep together, groom each other, and play all the time. They also spend a good time apart though and will do things separately as well. How do I know if they’re bonded or just close ?!

Part of me wants to rescind the other adoption and just keep them both but that wouldn’t be a smart decision financially because between my bf and I, we already have 3 animals total.

How Creamsicles Are Made?

Are the cats playing too roughly? These cats do this pretty often, and I know this sort of thing can usually be seen as playing, but sometimes it escalates, and I can't tell if it has transitioned from playing to fighting (?). I heard this is an expected behavior and thought maybe I have to tire the cats out as a solution. For reference, the diluted tortie is female 4 years old and the gray tabby + white cat is male 3 years old. They've been together for about half a year. The male likes to engage in this behavior, and the female tends to lie in submission instead of running away for some reason. I am currently using the feliway multi-cat calm diffuser but can't tecan't it is making a difference. Any one else’s cat not graceful? Mines not good at catting lol. Took this after I installed the shelves. He fell off the 3rd step a few times when he first tried them. So he was quite hesitant the first week 😅. Now he’s a pro and zips around, but he’s always been a clumsy boy. God forbid you don’t catch him when he jumps on you, or you don’t hold onto him while he rides your shoulders.
