Shunka Luta and Dora too - and angel Winnie the Pooch
The Adventures and Interests of Winnie the Pooch (now an angel) and Shunka Luta, too--and now Dora! We started it around 2014 or so.
The original name of this page was Winnie the Pooch and Shunka Luta too. Winnie the Pooch was a white Pomeranian born on November 9, 1999 who went on trips coast-to-coast and lots of places between. He had adventures, misadventures, and a number of health problems in his life. He started to lose his vision when he was 13 years old and wore a Muffin's Halo for Blind Dogs. He was an extraordinary do
g, had the heart of a helper dog, was a "southpaw," was an introvert like Ma, and he and Ma shared an extra special bond. He lived to the age of 18 years and 10 months old. He passed away September 5, 2018 and grief weighs heavy on our hearts. He is forever part of our family and will always be remembered. Shunka Luta is a red sable Pomeranian mix who was adopted in 2011 when Winnie was 11 years old. He is estimated to be currently 11 years old (early 2022). Shunka is a sensitive little soul, and he always tried to help Winnie the best ways he could in Winnie's geriatric time. Shunka is Dad's little sidekick, always wanting to be wherever Dad is. Shunka is a little gentleman now, but he objects when Dad goes anywhere without him. And if he doesn't want to do something, he ducks his head and turns away. He otherwise has stellar manners. Since Winnie's passing, Shunka is now the voice of this page. On February 4, 2019, Ma's birthday, Dora, a gold female Pomeranian, came to live with the family. She was adopted from the Mostly Cockers and Poms rescue group. She lived in at least 3 homes in her life, and her agreeableness toward learning to live with a new family is a testament to the resilience of the canine spirit that is amazing and admirable. She is believed to be ~7 years old (early 2022). She has some internal health issues that we are working to resolve. September 2020: Dora unexpectedly had a blood transfusion and 3.5-day hospitalization. Treatment and monitoring continues. Dora is strongly attached to Ma and protests vociferously when Ma has to go to work or otherwise leave the house. Dora also is on constant neighborhood watch, earning her the nickname of Dora Bell. She also wants to be the little explorer she is named for, and we hope we can keep her healthy and well so that she can be the Dora the Explorer she is meant to be. Other frequent appearances will be made by , a small kitten found in a woodpile on a 11-acre property we used to own who was adopted by friends of ours and named after Winnie. Also Summer, Lily, Coco, Stella, and any number of other friends and "cuzins."

REBA is an affectionate 10-pound, 11-month-old Pomeranian mix girl who needs a new home. She is leash and crate-trained. She is treat-motivated, knows “sit,” “no,” and “down” and it should be easy to continue her training. She is good with other dogs and cats; children are unknown. Reba has been spayed and is up to date with her shots (medical records available). Reba loves to cuddle with her people. There is no adoption fee for this cute girl.
If you will welcome Reba into a loving home as part of your family, please call Kathy any time at 917-519-0124.

A couple things have prevented me (Mom) from making what I intended for the Celebration of Life for Shunka:
1) Grief
2) A technical problem in which all my photos are inaccessible right now. I am working on getting them restored, but in the meantime, I have created a pretty nice photo album for our sweet Shunka.
