About us
The original name of this page was Winnie the Pooch and Shunka Luta too. We started it around 2014 or so.
Winnie the Pooch was a white Pomeranian born on November 9, 1999 who went on trips coast-to-coast and lots of places between. He had adventures, misadventures, and a number of health problems in his life. He started to lose his vision when he was 13 years old and wore a Muffin's Halo for Blind Dogs. He was an extraordinary dog, had the heart of a helper dog, was a "southpaw," was an introvert like Ma, and he and Ma shared an extra special bond. He lived to the age of 18 years and 10 months old. He passed away September 5, 2018 and grief weighs heavy on our hearts. He is forever part of our family and will always be remembered.
Shunka Luta is a red sable Pomeranian mix who was adopted in 2011 when Winnie was 11 years old. He says he is currently 9 years old (early 2020). Shunka is a sensitive little soul, and he always tried to help Winnie the best ways he could in Winnie's geriatric time. Shunka is Dad's little sidekick, always wanting to be wherever Dad is. Since Winnie's passing, Shunka is now the voice of this page.
On February 4, 2019, Ma's birthday, Dora, a gold female Pomeranian, came to live with the family. She was adopted from the Mostly Cockers and Poms rescue group. She is believed to be 4 years old and lived in at least 3 homes in her life, and her agreeableness toward learning to live with a new family is a testament to the resilience of the canine spirit that is amazing and admirable. She has some internal health issues that we are working to resolve. Update September 2020: Dora unexpectedly had a blood transfusion and 3.5-day hospitalization. Assistance with the bill and ongoing treatments is humbly requested: https://www.gofundme.com/f/dora039s-unexpected-vet-bill
