Handmade soaps are made with simple ingredients that are pretty much all edible (apart from the lye that is responsible for turning the oils into soap) which means that anything that is absorbed into the skin is safe for the whole family. Skincare products are responsible for a huge number of hormone-disrupting chemicals being absorbed into the body. Using natural soap is a simple swap (shower gels often come with a long list of chemicals plus the additional plastic waste). My soaps have a paper sleeve that can be recycled and you’ll use every last bit of soap (I just stick the small piece of soap left over onto a new bar so nothing is wasted). 🙌♻️💝 link to my online shop is in my bio. www.riverbellcottage.com

My first Botanical Oils went out in the post today and it was a great feeling. If you’re looking for a special gift for a sister, mum or friend who loves natural products they will love this! One of my twins uses it to add shine to her hair and the other uses it as a cuticle oil. Knowing it has zero nasties in it gives me great peace of mind for the whole family to use. I’ll have to get Theo to try it out as a beard oil 😁🎄🎁.

I poured the beeswax to wick test this jar and then realised I had forgotten to mix in some coconut oil. 🤦‍♀️ Beeswax is so hard it often cracks when poured into vessels so adding coconut oil helps prevent that, plus enables the candle to burn more evenly. Now I need to wait for it to set so I can remove it and start again! 😂🤪 Are there any experienced beeswax candlemakers who can offer some tips?? 🤔

I’ve spent a lot of time this past month trying to figure out the most efficient way of cleaning beeswax. It’s a messy process and I’ve had a lot of steep learning curves! I think I’ve almost got it now but as with all things, practice makes perfect. It would be awesome if these were real gold bars though. ☺️

I had a really great time at the markets last night, thanks to everyone who came and paid me a visit. I’m sorry I’m so bad with names and remembering where I know you from! I need to close a few brain tabs this Christmas. 🥴

I’ve been busy making some all natural, double-wicked large candles for a private order. They’re over twice the size of my normal candles and last a long time! Whilst I’m not currently shipping candles due to the insane QLD heat I am happy to send you a link if you’d like to purchase one to pick up from me in Bellbowrie. They make lovely gifts for friends who have sensitivities to synthetic fragrances and are made with a long burning sustainable olive oil wax. Standard candles are $30, large are $50.
