It’s time for a break from socials for a while! I’ve felt a strong calling to give my focus wholeheartedly to my husband, children and God and move away from the distractions of social media. I’m not sure how this will pan out with trying to run a business but I trust that it will all work out just fine. A beautiful day by the bay today celebrating a family birthday. There’s nothing like being by the water, I really do love the sights, sounds and smells of the coast. 🐚🌊

The garden is so green right now and our sheep are enjoying time in the top garden. We’ve been on this property for nearly 9 years and for most of this time Theo has managed 2.5 acres of grass with a push lawnmower as we had a bad time with the ride on we inherited not working and have never had the finances to invest in a new one. It’s a huge job but the sheep have helped a lot by eating the grass in the bottom garden so that rarely needs cutting now. I’m looking forward to the cooler months though, when the grass slows down and Theo gets a bit of a break at the weekends!

It’s a day for some beekeeping work, monitoring the hives and seeing how well our bees are doing. Our small swarm of bees has grown so that we can add another box to our hive. Theo is getting to test out his new beesuit he got for Christmas and I’m staying well clear!

Did you know that St Valentine was a Catholic priest who lived in the 3rd Century in Rome? There are several legends associated with St Valentine and how he came to be sainted. One story says that Valentine was called before Emperor Claudius and refused to give up his Christianity to become a pagan. Another story is that Valentine was secretly marrying Christian couples, a practice which had been outlawed by the Emperor. Whatever the reason, Saint Valentine was executed on 14 February in the year 270. Happy Valentine’s Day! 💗

Rose Geranium is probably my most popular soap (closely followed by lemon myrtle). I’ve been making it for a long time and the scent never loses its charm! I blended rose and lavender together for my Valentines soap and it’s a beautiful combination, available in my gift packs (link to shop in bio). www.riverbellcottage.com

Another new week ahead and I’ve got lots of little jobs on the list today including reordering packaging, ingredients and packing a wholesale order. I’m thrilled the sun is shining as have a lot of washing to do too.

Theo and I had a really lovely time celebrating a family wedding yesterday. It was such a beautiful, joyful event and highlighted what a blessing marriage is. 💗

Our banana branch got so heavy it snapped before we could add support. We’re really hoping they ripen indoors as there are a lot of bananas here. 🍌

It’s been a while since I’ve got myself a new plant but I discovered that my ‘cast iron’ plant had succumbed to mealybugs which is a new plant experience for me! I’ve got plans to try and save it but in the meantime I have a lovely new Peperomia in its place. Keeping all my house plants alive this summer has been a job and a half and I’m looking forward to less frequent watering as we head into autumn. 🍂

When I stepped out of the house at 6am today I was greeted with this lovely rainbow. The skies were so gloomy and grey and yet the rainbow arched across the sky beautifully. It made me think about life’s ups and downs. Sometimes the backdrop can seem a bit grey but then a rainbow appears and we’re given hope that there is still beauty to be found.

I love receiving messages like this! It was the best start to my Monday morning. I’m receiving more and more reviews as people try my botanical oil and am thrilled everyone is loving it as much as I do. It was a great start to the market season on Saturday and lovely to see some familiar faces again! The wind was a bit of a challenge but my new set up survived the huge gusts that came through. Shout out to .a.handmade who sewed me the perfect weight for my frame which I would’ve been in trouble without! I’m looking forward to the next one at the start of March. ☺️

We’re all set up and ready for the Bellbowrie Twilight markets tonight! It’s so nice to do a market in my own suburb just 5 minutes from home. I’ve got Efraimia keeping me company and Theo has got us stocked up with refreshments so we’re all ready for a great night. 🙌

I can’t believe we’re into February already! I’ve got a limited number of special Valentine Gift Boxes that contain three of my Rose & Lavender soaps, along with a lip balm and a botanical oil sample. It’s a perfect pamper pack and will last a lot longer than flowers 💐😁. I’ll have some with me tonight at the Bellbowrie twilight market (4pm-8pm sports field on Sugarwood St) and they’re also available online here for anyone wanting to send the link to their husband 😉:
