It’s Day 1 of ‘high school’ for all three of my daughters today and I’ve come to my studio to wrap soaps for a breather! The technology side of things doesn’t come naturally to me so I’m happy everything has gone relatively smoothly. Still a few kinks to iron out though but I’m sure it won’t be long until we’re all settled into our new routine!

For Brisbane locals you’ll find me at the Bellbowrie Twilight markets this coming Saturday 1 Feb! Located at the Bellbowrie Sports fields from 4pm-8pm. I’m hoping it’s going to be a lot cooler than the Christmas markets. I’ll be fully stocked with soaps, lip balms, candles and my new botanical oil. Happy Australia Day! 🇩đŸ‡ș. This year marks my 22nd year living in Australia, next year I’ll have spent an equal amount of my life in both the UK and here. I have a lot of British quirks still (I unintentionally use idioms all the time), my accent is still going strong but I think my heart will always been split between both countries. Australia is a beautiful place to live and raise a family even though I do moan about the heat a lot!!

This bakers rack has saved me so much space and it was a great investment for my soap business. I’m determined to keep my products, packaging and ingredients within the confines of my little studio but space is getting shorter by the month! I’m currently testing out a new market set up too so it’s very squishy in there and I’m looking forward to doing a spring clean next week and tidying up so I have a bit more room to move!

Brisbane has had some scorchers this week. My daughters had a lovely beach day with their friend yesterday and came back a bit pink, we just used a couple of drops of my botanical oil and it soothed their faces so well. The cold-pressed apricot oil in it is rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and essential fatty acids and helps reduce inflammation and redness. The same favourite 3 blends: Lemon Myrtle & Rosemary, Orange & Cedarwood; and Lemon Eucalyptus & Lavender. I’ve been making bath salts for a while now and my mini sachets were a hit last Christmas but I thought I would add a fresh new look for the packaging this year. Bottling up honey this morning, don’t you love my little teapot twine dispenser?! It’s Theo’s birthday today and we’re looking forward to celebrating again tonight (we had a birthday lunch for him yesterday). The older I get the more grateful I feel to have such a good husband, someone to grow old with, to share our successes (and failures), to raise our children and to grow in faith. Life is good.

I’ve been enjoying the creative process of giving my market stall a refresh for this year. I’ve been using the same set up for years now and thought it was time for a change. The old peg board has gone and has been replaced with a framed print and I won’t miss scrambling to find the letters that always used to fall off as we packed the stall up and down at every market!!

Our Gardener’s Blocks are back in stock!! Whilst I made them with the gardener in mind, I use mine around the laundry sink, I use it for hand washing and also to rub on clothes as a stain remover. Because the water dries off as it hangs, it lasts a long time! They contain coffee grinds from our lovely local coffee farm which naturally helps to exfoliate and clean off dirt and grease.
