Please read before you apply as Sam is a special kind of guy, needing a special kind of home. This is a courtesy post for a local community member.
Sam was 6 months old when he entered his adoptive home. At just 6 months old this boy had already endured quite a traumatic life. Riddled with BB pellets it was evident that humans had purposely tried to hurt Sam over and over again. Needless to say he was skeptical and quite fearful of humans from that point on.
Unfortunately even after he was adopted Sam’s fear escalated and what was left of his confidence quickly faded over the next 3 years of his life due to the lack of proper socialization. At this point Sam has acted out on his stranger danger issue and nipped at 3 people making him a pup with a bite history. No local agencies will even consider taking him in, so his current owners are going to have to euthanize him due to their own health related issues and not being able to place Sam.
This boy needs a home that has experience with fearful pups. He very much has the potential to overcome these issues with the correct guidance, a boost of confidence, and a family that has patience the patience and ability to work with a fearful pup. Sam is a 65lb lab mix. His owner said he gets along with other pups, unsure of cats, and no kids due to his current skittish reactive behavior. He is a loyal and loving guy once he warms up to you, but know that there is a very good chance that will not be instantaneous. If you can help Sam out email [email protected] today.
