As summer winds down, Paskapoo will be taking a short break from the office and our social media accounts. We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all our wonderful clients, both old and new, for your continued support throughout this busy season.

This photo of Smoke was taken a few hours before the hail storm. He was quietly enjoying his nap in the garden under the late afternoon sun. We stayed longer that day to let his old bones soak up the warmth.

Yesterday, during our last pet sitting visit of the day, we found Smoke in distress. We rushed him to the Paramount 24hr vet hospital near Northland Mall, where he was admitted immediately.

With incredible sadness, we learned that he had developed congestive heart failure, and there was nothing we could do. Smoke didn’t get to go home. He peacefully passed away next to his favorite pet sitter, while being told how much he was loved by his pet parents over the phone.

Today is International Cat Day, and we wanted to take a moment to honor his memory.

We also want to thank the staff at the Paramount 24hr hospital for admitting Smoke right away and for being so helpful and understanding. We are very fortunate to have this level of care for our pets in Calgary.

We began our route at 5:30 AM today to visit as many clients as possible, knowing that many were anxiously awaiting updates about hail damage and confirmation of their pets' safety.

Being based in Sage Hill, back on the large ravine, we experienced significant damage to our own home and property last night 😰

We're happy to report that despite some damage to our clients' homes during yesterday's storm, all the pets remained safe.

To say that Paskapoo Pet Services was busy in July is an understatement—LOL! We had the privilege of caring for so many of our beloved Paskapoo VIPs last month! While we can't showcase everyone (we're still sorting through hundreds of adorable photos on our phones), here are a few of the precious pets we had the joy of looking after😁

August is shaping up to be just as busy, especially with the long weekend ahead. We're looking forward to the cooler temperatures and some much-needed rain relief next week!

This truly warms our hearts, especially given how hard we've been working this summer amidst the heat and water restrictions (watering cans aren't light...).

Reviews are incredibly valuable for small businesses like ours. They signal to Google to boost our organic ranking in search results. Unfortunately, we don't have the resources to compete with the massive IT companies behind services like Rover.

These reviews also remind us that we're doing a great job. We don't always hear back from clients once they return home, so your feedback means the world to us ❤

Today, while Kathleen was working in a client's yard, she detected a strong smell of smoke coming from a neighbor's house.

Investigating further, she saw thick smoke rising from the flower bed in front of the house and through the bricks. Despite knocking and ringing the doorbell, the resident did not immediately respond as they were asleep.

Kathleen called 911. Firefighters arrived within minutes and extinguished the fire, which had started from a cigarette butt that ignited the wood and the dry grass beneath the flower bed stones.

Kathleen was able to resume her pet sitting and p**p scooping visits.

Never a dull moment when you're a pet sitter! 🤣

If you've been following us on social media, you know that summer is our busiest time of the year! We're taking a little break to share some adorable photos of our clients' pets! 🐾 As you can see, we're not only experts at caring for cats but also guinea pigs, and we're up for the challenge with more complex animals like poison-dart frogs! 🐸

Please note that we are no longer able to accept and onboard new clients for the rest of the summer (we're already halfway through and back-to-school items are already in stores! 😫). We will consider onboarding new clients starting the first week of September for assignments beginning the second week of September. Reach out now to get all the information ahead of time!

🎉 Happy Stampede, Paskapoo Family! 🎉

We’re wishing all our friends and clients a fantastic time during the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth! We'll be on the move, caring for your pets and homes while you enjoy some well-deserved time off!

And please bear with us if we're running a bit late on some days -there are pancake breakfasts everywhere, and we might just have to stop for a taste if there's a Stampede event in your community! 😂

All jokes aside, we love Stampede weeks because there's less traffic, making it safer and quicker for us to get to our clients.

Since we’re pretty busy, we might take a little break from social media, but we’ll definitely share some fun photo dumps when we can.

Wow! It was a busy weekend at Paskapoo! Thankfully, only a handful of clients were impacted by the Westjet strike.

Do you have a multi-cat household and have been quoted an exorbitant rate per visit because of per-pet charges? At Paskapoo Pet Services, we charge by blocks of time! If we can complete our tasks and care for all your pets within that time block, you won’t pay extra. We don’t charge extra for giving medication or watering your plants either!

We love our multi-pet families and believe pet care should remain affordable, no matter how many cats you have welcomed into your home ❤

As summer vacation approaches, we wanted to remind you that Paskapoo Pet Services is in high demand during this season. Our schedule is filling up, particularly for August, which is now almost fully booked. However, we still have availability for June and July.

We prioritize building long-lasting relationships with our clients and ensure that we never rush our process. Consequently, we have reserved our remaining August spaces for our existing clients. If you are a new client wishing to join us for travel dates in June and July, we encourage you to reach out well in advance. This allows us ample time to complete the necessary paperwork and conduct an initial consultation.

We provide care for a wide range of pets, including cats of all ages, bunnies, guinea pigs, reptiles, fish tanks, and ponds. Additionally, we offer house security checks for clients without pets.

We look forward to taking care of your furry friends this summer! 😊

Good morning everyone,

Today, we want to take a moment to remember and honor some beloved members of our Paskapoo Pet Services family who have recently crossed the rainbow bridge: Sam, Charlie, Rootbeer, Snowy, and Princess.

These wonderful pets were part of our lives for many years, bringing joy and companionship every time we had the pleasure of caring for them. We are deeply saddened by their passing, but we take comfort in knowing they are now at peace and happy in their new home beyond the rainbow bridge.

Our hearts go out to their families during this difficult time. Please join us in celebrating the lives of Sam, Charlie, Rootbeer, Snowy, and Princess. They will always hold a special place in our hearts ❤

Yup.

But this post also applies to other service providers like house cleaners, plumbers, and everyone else. You get what you pay for. Period.

We see this a lot... pet parents searching for a pet sitter or dog walker, but the first comment is: "I'm looking for someone who doesn't charge an arm and a leg..."

When you consider the pet-care experience and specialized training professional pet sitters and dog walkers have and the customized care they provide, these pet-care professionals are worth FAR MORE than they charge.

Of course, you have to work within your budget, but lowest price does not mean the best option—and professional pet-care providers should be fairly compensated.

Remember, you get what you pay for—and your pets deserve quality care!

When we start a pet sitting assignment, one of our initial tasks is to ensure all toilet lids throughout the house are securely closed... 🚽

This precautionary measure is essential, as many pets, including cats, are often tempted to drink water from toilet bowls — a practice fraught with potential dangers. Kittens and seniors kitties with mobility challenges are at risk of falling into the toilet bowl and potentially drown... 😬
