OLD MAN NEEDS KENOS....Imagine living 10 years with a family that you thought loved you and then because of your age the family decides that they have no use for you and dump you in a city shelter and forget you ever existed. Imagine living the next 2 years as a prisoner In a tiny cell only walked by a very few because now you are untrusting of most people and you became aggressive because your old and confused and want out of the cold bars that encapsulate you. No animal at the age of 12 deserves such disrespect from our society. This is their golden years, and they deserve to live them out laying in the sun they should be surrounded by toys , bones, and treats and love, not bars and a cold concrete floor. Please help us bring this boy to kenos. Let's give him the respect he deserves at the end of his life.

UPDATE : SKY HAS BEEN ADOPTED !!!

It’s official, we’re desperate 😔

Sky hasn’t received ONE inquiry since arriving to us November last year. No one has sent an email. No one has called about her. No one asks to visit with her. We have posted her multiple times…still nothing. We understand she must be the only dog, but there has to be someone out there who belongs to Sky. She is a wonderful companion. She does great with all people and loves going for walks with our volunteers. We are confident she will make someone very happy, she just needs a chance!

All of our long term residents have found a family and we think Sky’s turn is long overdue. Someone has to be needing this girl ❤️

We are only asking for serious inquiries. When she leaves her kennel she thinks she’s going home.

Please share! Leitchfield, KY. Angus still needs help. We were very lucky that one family donated Lantus insulin pens for Angus. He still has blood sugar readings that are beyond what the test reports. He went to another vet that will remove ear polyps. They want to help us get his blood sugar down. They recommended that we get a Freestyle Libre for more accurate testing and they can receive his blood sugar reading on the internet! The new tester will cost about $40 weekly and we need to raise funds to pay for his most recent vet visit.

Our donation link is PayPal.me/savegraysoncats
or
Venmo is -cats
or
Cashapp is $savegraysoncats

Thanks from Angus

There is no way you won't fall madly in love with Wayne.

Not a cat person? Wayne will make you a cat person.

This handsome lug has obviously been through some stuff in his life. He came to us as a stray in October, in all-around rough shape. Bad teeth. Ears bent from years of infection and fights. And a heart condition, cardiomyopathy.

He also came to us with the SWEETEST disposition on any cat we've ever seen (and we see a *lot* of cats). Life on the streets didn't make Wayne jaded - it just made him even more grateful for all the hugs he can get.

Wayne is on a daily med for his heart condition - but don't let a little pill get in the way of pure kitty purrfection

Doodle lovers… Marsh said he would really like a home soon so he doesn’t have to grow up in the shelter! We love him very much, but we know he isn’t for everyone; he is a BIG puppy with a BIG personality. He is 9 months old now, and we think he deserves a family of his own. Marsh is full of s***k and always up for a new game or adventure! He is a smart guy who catches on quickly. He is a large boy (tipping 80lb now!) who can lose sight of his manners when excited. We are not recommending him for children because of this. He is looking for an active family that will put in the time and energy to train and exercise him. We think he will do best in a home with a strong female dog to put him in his place and show him the ropes. Marsh is somewhat strong on his leash but is learning every day. If you are interested in adopting, please get your application in soon!

We’ve got some big news over here at the VCCT. After many months, we’ve finally opened enrollment in our FIP clinical trials to cats with dry FIP. This is truly a momentous occasion. UPDATE: Lulu is off to foster! Thank you to everyone who offered to help, we still have plenty of other dogs that would benefit from short-term fostering, so continue to reach out to [email protected] if you're interested. Lulu is still adoptable from foster, but call us at 630-323-5630 to make an appointment to meet her.

This poor dog has sat in another shelter for a year and now sits here sad. Lulu is best as the only pet in the home (no other dogs or cats preferred), but she could really use some holiday cheer. This could be through a foster home for the holidays, or just some time out of the shelter for a sleepover or even just a McDonald’s run. She is a very good dog and not destructive at all. We are willing to work with anyone who can just give her a break for the shelter environment for a little while. She would love to share a couch in your home and watch “It’s a Wonderful Life” with you. If you are interested in fostering sweet Lulu or just becoming a foster in general, please reach out to our Foster Program Manager at [email protected] Thank you to all of our fosters for all you do for our animals!

ADOPTED TOGETHER!

Sheba and Daisy are bonded best friends whose human has passed away. At this time they are living in their home alone with a caring family member coming over to care for them. We have been asked to post them for adoption. Not much is known about the pair, except that they are very sweet! We will use their story as another reminder to everyone who owns a pet to share with close friends and family about your dogs in the event that something happens to you!. We suggest writing facts out about your pets-ages, where they were vetted, if they are altered, any known medical issues, where you obtained them from, etc. And now onto what is known about Daisy and Sheba!

These lovely girls are black labradors. We are told that Sheba is approximately 10 years old and she weighs about 65 pounds. Daisy is about 11 years old, she too weighs about 65 pounds. Both girls are spayed and up to date on vaccines but no other vetting information is known. It is very important for these girls' sakes, that their adopter can afford their vet care and good quality dog food for the rest of their days. Ideally upon adoption the plan she be that both are taken to the vet for a full senior dog exam with lab work. This will give their adopter an overall picture of their health.

Daisy and Sheba are well behaved dogs, living indoors and going out as needed for potty breaks. Both girls are showing signs of arthritis; stairs appear to be challenging for them. It'd be wonderful if they could be given something to ease any discomfort they may have. The girls will alert you by barking when the mailman arrives.

At this time the girls don't get out for much exercise. No doubt they'd appreciate time to get out and smell and stretch their legs. They are reportedly good on leash. However, these are 2 big dogs who could be a lot for one person to handle on a walk alone. We'd bet they would enjoy taking their walks together so a home where 2 people can take them together would be nice.

It is unknown how the girls react to new dogs. Proper and slow introduction is always best when integrating a pair of dogs with resident dogs. Daisy and Sheba have lived with cats and they do well with gentle children who are old enough to know not to be rough with them.

Sheba and Daisy are both described as being "loyal and very kind". They sound like a lovely pair of senior dogs who will make a great addition to their adoptive home. The pair need an adoptive home very soon.

Daisy and Sheba are located in Sumner, WA. For contact information please email: [email protected]

These are not ODH dogs; we urge prospective adopters to do their own evaluation.

**UPDATE** We have ourselves a fighter. He came in with a body temp of 92 and red blood cell count of 4. He was literally shutting down. He’s alert this morning and even drank some bisque. Dr. Jaax said the chance of a transfusion is 50/50 and will try to put him on steroids later today.
Since Jaax has a fondness for old school rap, we named him Coolio. Please keep sending this little one good vibes 🐾

We posted earlier about this 1yr old boy who was living outside. Noah’s Ark gave the woman our number because he had yellow puss coming from his mouth and had difficulty breathing. We called 4 vets but no one would squeeze him in and we didn’t have the funds for an emergency hospital.

We text Dr. Jaax to get her feedback on what it could be based on photos and she said to bring him in. Her plan was just to do a quick evaluation because her and Tim had plans tonight but his exam showed he was critical and would die if not given a blood transfusion immediately. His red blood count was 4. Dr. Jaax never takes a break and she came in even with us having a balance over $2k. Tim also came in and was helping. We’ve been preaching to her about the importance of taking a break and here we are. While we feel incredibly guilty, we are also incredibly grateful because his body was shutting down. He would have been dead within the hour.
He’s not out of the woods. He’s had one transfusion and will likely need another but is already showing some improvement after the first. He has a long way to go.

We posted earlier for donations to Venmo and PayPal so we could make an immediate payment (she is closed until Monday) but this is going to be much more than we planned on and already have a $2k + bill there. Every little bit adds up and is greatly appreciated.

👻If anyone would like to sponsor 2 tickets to KI Halloween Haunt (or another good Haunted House) and maybe a gc for dinner so Dr. Jaax and Tim can take a rain check on the night they had planned it would be greatly appreciated.

Venmo:
PayPal: Paypal.me/TSNP
CashApp: $NoahProject

Payments can be called into Dr. Jaax when she opens again on Monday from 11am-7pm.

Thank you for helping us help those who have no one else 🐾 Another thank you to Dr. Jaax and Tim for fighting for this boy.

What do you do when you have 98 animals to keep warm, feed and care for daily? What do you do when you have a $2100 electric bill, $6000 vet bill, payroll, utility bills, van payment, mortgage payment and insurance due....and no money coming in? Sadly, that is the reality we are facing today. We are operating at critical capacity.

Adoptions and donations have come to a screeching halt, but people continue to dump animals at our facility or call wanting to surrender their pets every single day (then bash us if we say we don't have room or say we can't at this time). Pets that have been adopted months or years prior are asking to come back. What do we do? That's what we are asking ourselves today, and our only answer is YOU. We are turning to our community for support and hope that you can see us through this difficult time.

If you are able to give, please send via Paypal at paypal.me/aarfky so we can transfer directly to our bank account immediately. The Facebook donate button is great, but takes roughly 45 days after the end of each month before we receive the funds. And quite frankly, we need money NOW.

If you don't have Paypal, please donate directly to our vet's office at Tri County Animal Clinic 606-673-1144.

We thank you in advance and sincerely appreciate anything you can spare to help. Together we can make a difference.
