Amerahnn Australian Shepherds We are located near Geelong, Victoria
Breeding healthy beautiful Aussies with fabulous temperaments.

We are a very small family run breeder located in Western Victoria. Our dogs get to enjoy 10 acres to romp around in and daily swims in the dam. We fell in love with the Aussie breed a number of years ago and were lucky enough to have as our introduction to the breed our wonderful Annie, Indyridge Bella CDX RN. She is a one-in-a-million dog who is wonderful to live with and has been a great introd

uction into the world of obedience trialling for me, which then led me to the show ring, with the addition of a dog from Borderton Kennels in Western Australia. Reuben bounded into our lives and is now known as Australian Champion Borderton Zenvo Ltd Edition and we thank Borderton for allowing us to love and campaign this dog. All our dogs are loved by us and are a big part of our family. We only have litters occasionally and the pups are brought up inside our home with our children and other pets. Previous pups we have bred are living as assistance dogs and much loved family companions, as well as being trialled in dog sports and in the show ring. We hope everyone has had a great break over the Christmas/New Year period. Here at Amerahnn we managed a camping trip where we took just one of our Aussies, the rest staying home with one of my sons.
Caï was the lucky camping buddy this time- she loved having all the attention just for her but didn’t love swimming like we hoped she would.

More of Amerahnn dogs who are having some success in the performance rings (and the show ring too!)

Tara has two lovely boys bred by us- Ch Amerahnn Thunder Bolt JC N. SPRD (Storm) and his son Ch Amerahnn Thunderstruck JC (Striker)

She has been competing in the newer sports of Lure Coursing and SprintDog which Aussies seem to LOVE! And if you look at the expressions on their faces in the photos you can see the joy as they race away after the lure (plastic bags) or running at top speed for recall in SprintDog.

Tara has also been showing both boys but mainly campaigning Striker this year who has earned his Australian championship title earlier this year, as well as a Best in Group award, and a win in his class at the Australian Shepherd Club of Victoria. She always has her boys impeccably presented, and they are a real credit to all her hard work.

As we near the end of 2024, I would like to celebrate what some amazing dogs we bred have been up to this year. Aussies enjoy many dog sports, and first I would like to celebrate the achievements of Zelda (Amerahnn To Infinity and Beyond SWN) and her hard efforts in SCENTWORK.
Zelda and her owner Lyn have been training hard and it’s paying off, with some recent trials having Zelda win some very pretty ribbons and prizes, and the title Scentwork Novice.
What is scentwork? From the Dogs Australia website “Scent work involves training dogs to search for specific odours from certain essential oils in several situations called ‘elements’, in containers such as boxes, on the outside of vehicles, inside buildings and in the outside environment.

Dogs need to find the source of the odour and communicate its exact location to their owner.

Dog and owner teams compete to locate the source of the odour within a set time given by the judge to determine which teams are the fastest and most accurate in their searches.

Owners and dogs need to gain several qualifications at each level to progress to more complex searches at higher levels.”

Sometimes as a breeder we make hard decisions to find a new home for some of our older dogs.
Emmy had three beautiful litters for us, but as she got older it became more apparent that being in a multi dog household wasn’t the right place for her.
Enter the wonderful Max and Grace who were looking for an older Aussie. They’ve welcomed Emmy into their life and home and it’s safe to say she is LOVING being an only dog with alllllll the attention for herself. So as much as it breaks my heart that we weren’t the best forever home for her, it’s mended a bit when I receive photos like this one.

Last weekend we attended the Dog Lovers show with fabulous success- so many people interested in learning about our wonderful breed. Photo attached is of our little team that we took to DLS with us.

This weekend we have our Victorian Specialty show being held at KCC Park in Skye on Saturday. Breed judging starts at 9am, and visitor are always welcome. I am taking four dogs- Sassy, Caï, Rico and Kizzie.
I have attached a map of where the Aussies are being exhibited- on the outside lawn as you drive in.

If anyone is interested in meeting Lucille or Grace with a view to giving them a forever home, they will be with me at the Belgrave and District show this Saturday, held at KCC park in Skye/Cranbourne.

They have been busy learning their puppy manners, have almost mastered “sit” and recall! Toilet training is going well too 🥰.

The show is indoors so pop on over for a wander amongst some lovely dogs and passionate owners.

Grace is a blue merle who is a busy, confident girl. She would best suit a home with teenage children or perhaps a family with no children. She is super clever and picks up new tricks easily. She happily plays on her own or as part of our pack of older dogs. Microchip #956000017476496
Lucille is a pretty black tri- she is a little bit quieter than Grace but still a typical Aussie puppy full of life and joy. She is just as clever as her sister, however more likely to sit back and watch the play before joining in. It’s a lovely sunny winters day so we are all playing outside. We love climbing the rock in our play area.

We’ve had a pretty big morning all being brave for our first car ride to the vet to have our vaccinations, microchips and a health check done. ✅
