Dog Boarding Policy Updates:

Effective for all new boarding reservations we will be applying a $10 fee for all Early/Late OR Saturday/Sunday drop off/pick up’s. All Early/Late OR Saturday/Sunday drop off/pick up’s still need to be pre-arranged.

Effective for all new boarding reservations we will be applying an $8 fee per day for dogs that require individual exercise due to behavioral reasons or owner preference.

Any boarding reservation made within 7 days of any major holiday will require a 50% non-refundable deposit.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding our updated boarding policies please let us know!

Introducing “Snickers” the 6 month old Cattle Dog Mix. Snickers recently graduated from our Create Your Own Board & Train Program. Snickers had a huge jumping problem, so we worked heavily on eliminating jumping, as well as, reducing mouthing and nipping behavior, building basic obedience skills, off leash recall, and leash manners. Snickers absolutely loves to work and he was a joy to train! 🐾🐾🐾

Introducing “Sepp” the 5 month old Newfoundland/Saint Bernard/Great Pyrenees Mix. Sepp recently graduated from our Basic Board & Train Program. Sepp learned so many obedience skills, as well as, leash manners during his stay with us. I expect great things from this BIG boy! 🐾🐶🐾

Introducing “Sonny” the 3 year old Border Collie. Sonny was recently here for a refresher Board & Train Program. Sonny has struggled with impulse control in the past, so we continued to work on various impulse control behaviors and we also worked on strengthening obedience skills with distractions, duration, and distance! 🐾🐾🐾

Introducing “Callie” the 15 month old Golden Retriever. Callie recently graduated from our Create Your Own Board & Train Program. Callie is such a sweetheart, but is going through the dreaded “teenager phase” (forgetting that she ever learned anything!) so we have been hard at work reintroducing boundaries and reinforcing obedience skills and leash manners. 🐾🐾🐾

Introducing “Ralph” the 3.5 month old Cocker Spaniel German Shepherd mix. Ralph recently graduated from our Puppy Foundations Board & Train Program. Ralph was pretty nervous around other dogs, especially BIG dogs when he started his program with us. Now, not only is he confident with dogs, he’s very confident all around! His favorite thing to do here was climb on everything, especially all the agility equipment! 🐾🐶🐾

Introducing “Teddy” the 5 month old Australian Shepherd. Teddy recently graduated from our Basic Board & Train Program. We took Teddy on several field trips to work on his socialization. We also worked on a variety of obedience skills. Teddy has been hard at work on not jumping and listening to recall! We are so proud of how much this sweet boy has accomplished during his time with us! 🐾 🐶 🐾

Zelda’s Dog Academy is very excited to announce the addition of Whitney Taylor to our training team!

Whitney is a CATCH Canine Trainers Academy (CCTA) Certified Dog Trainer (CCDT). Whitney has several years of experience in dog agility and stock dog training. Whitney also has knowledge regarding basic and advanced obedience and behavioral concerns. Whitney will be starting her journey with us by teaching agility group classes! Whitney will also likely be offering private coaching lessons in the near future. Whitney’s upcoming agility group classes will be live on the website very soon, but if you’d like to be placed on our waiting list please contact us directly.

We are so happy to have Whitney on our team. We know that she will be a fantastic addition and we are so thrilled to be able to provide agility dog training to all in Bozeman that want it. Please give a warm welcome to Whitney and her dogs, “Rosie”, “Tug”, and “Jordan”!

Introducing “Bean” the 5 month old Dachshund mix. Bean recently graduated from our Puppy Foundations Board & Train Program. Bean is such a confident little thing so we worked on getting her focus off of distractions and towards her handler, in addition to training a variety of different commands. She may be small, but she is MIGHTY! 🐾🐶🐾

Introducing “Sepp” the 15 week old Newfoundland/Saint Bernard/Great Pyrenees Mix. Sepp recently graduated from our Puppy Socialization Board & Train Program. Sepp was a complete rockstar and confidently accomplished all his ‘puppy socialization’ tasks quickly, so we added on a few obedience behaviors as well! Sepp will be returning for our Basic Board & Train Program soon to continue working on his obedience skills! We are so proud of this BIG boy and everything he has learned! 🐾🐾🐾

Sonny, the 3 year old Border Collie, will be graduating from our Standard Board & Train Program very soon. Sonny had a bad habit of herding around the kids in his family so we have been hard at work teaching Sonny acceptable behaviors, such as “place”, “stay”, and “leave-it”, as well as, developing appropriate outlets for his herding instincts. Of course, we have also worked on many other obedience skills as well. Sonny loves to learn and I’m so proud of his progress in the last 3 weeks! Joelle (2 year old Labrador Retriever) and Annabel (6 year old Labrador Retriever) love boarding with Zelda’s Dog Academy because not only do they get lots of love and attention at our small scale boarding facility, but they also get to go on training field trips. Last time Joelle and Annabel boarded with us they got to go to PetSmart and Home Depot to work on their obedience, leash manners, and neutrality around people and dogs. Luna, the 5 month old Pit German Shepherd Mix, is currently boarding with Zelda’s Dog Academy. Did you know that you can sign up for training while your dog boards with us? We have structured Board & Train Programs, but you can also sign up for a few boarding add-on lessons to work on a few individualized concerns. For example, Luna is working on puppy socialization, eliminating jumping, and engagement while on leash. 🐾❄️🐾

I know many of you have been patiently waiting for pictures of our new boarding facility. So here you go! We have 10 spacious 5-ft by 5-ft kennels each with their own elevated dog bed. We have plenty of indoor space for the dogs to play and watch doggie TV. The flooring is heated and grippy (no slipping during play!). We also have LOTS of enrichment activities and toys! We currently have a small fenced in potty area (a larger fenced in area is planned for the spring once the snow and ground thaws) and lots of yard space for on-leash/long line activities. Our primary use of our kennels is for boarding and board & train’s, but if you need daycare for your pup while you’re enjoying a day of snowboarding, let us know! We have pups on the schedule and we are very excited to be welcoming our first dogs into our new boarding facility starting tomorrow! 🐶🐶🐶

It’s ridiculously cold in Bozeman today which means practicing loose leash walking indoors! As you can see in the video there actually is no leash. I absolutely love to teach the foundations of a proper walk indoors (leash optional!) before taking the dog outside to practice. Joelle, the 1 year old Labrador Retriever, used to pull excessively hard on leash and now she is significantly more attentive to her handler while on and off leash! 🐾 🐾 🐾

Here is Blitzen, the one year old Pomsky, practicing Figure 8’s with traffic cones for the very first time. Not only is this a neat trick, but it is mentally engaging for your dog. You can even see Blitzen thinking and learning throughout the process! 🐾🐾🐾

Need ideas for mental enrichment for your dog? Muffin tins filled with kibble and treats and topped with tennis balls are a great way to mentally engage and challenge your dog!
