We are a rescue station for the Hedgehog Welfare Society here in Houston, Texas. There are only 3 stations in the state and it can get a bit overwhelming at times. We ask that if you are in need of help, to please contact us for recommendations on a rehoming group before you attempt to surrender your hedgehog. We have several groups that we work with, here on Facebook, that can help you find a good home for a healthy hedgehog. If you have a medical needs hog, we will always accept them but we do reserve the right to make all decisions on medical care. Help us help you by trying your best to find your hedgehog a home before surrender. We hope to save our spots for the medically needy.

Speaking of groups
How many fake hedgehog groups are out there? I was looking into joining other groups to help with questions and see people posting about their little ones and baaaammmm! Scammers everywhere with 5k (example) members. Where are they getting all these people? All I see in these groups are posts like "best photographs" with either an AI image or a breeders stolen baby photo! Why are people supporting these groups?

Not having power was a definite wake up call. You are never as ready as you think. We are back to normal now and have learned our lesson. Plan is to purchase a larger generator with enough watts to run 2 refrigerators, 4 small window units, fans, a hot plate and a few lamps. This will protect the animals and keep the rescue going in an emergency. We will need to install an interlock to make the generator a more permanent installation while following safety guidelines. Texas weather can be unpredictable. I know why rescue isn't for everyone. It's super hard to have so many little lives depending on you for everything. Our foster herd did well this time and our family of hedgehog lovers chipped in for gas and supplies. We are forever grateful for the support we are given. Thank you, hedgie family! We absolutely needed help and you helped us tremendously.
