Mid Western Gundog Society - 08.10.2022

Golden Retrievers ~ Judge: Rebecca Williams (Trebettyn)

Puppy Dog (3, 1abs)
1. Archers Haydengold Just a Rumour at Sunandair. 10 month who caught my eye as soon as he entered the ring. Masculine head with correct eye and dentition. Good length of neck which leads into well laid shoulders and well b***d, straight front. He has beautiful bone throughout and stands on tight catlike feet. For one so young he is balanced throughout with level top line and tail set. Hindquarters are well muscled with just the right amount of angulation. This enabled him to move around the ring so effortlessly & I was pleased to award him BD, BPD, RBOB & BP
2. Moore’s Purbarn Friends Together. 8 month with good head, eye and dentition. Correct length of neck leading into well laid shoulders. Straight front with nice bone and good feet. Level top line and tail set. Rear angulation and muscle good, however, was slightly looser on the move than 1 but this will come with age.

Junior Dog (3, 1abs)
1. Taylor & Tenn’s Strettonhill’s Ultimatum. Mid gold male with good head, eye and dentition. Length of neck ok, well laid shoulders and straight front. Correct amount of bone for age and lovely cat like feet. Top line and tail set correct but would like a little more rear angulation, however he is well muscled and moved well.
2. Rees’ Catenae Tom Thumb. Good head, eye and dentition. Good length of neck with well laid shoulders. Front ok, good top line, tail set and rear angulation. Took a little while to settle but moved well once he did. Just preferred front on 1.

Yearling Dog (2, 1abs)
1. Taylor & Tenn’s Strettonhill’s Ultimatum

Graduate Dog (4, 1abs)
1. Loverock & Waldron-Smith’s Thornywait Save My Space at Lovissa. Masculine head with correct eye and dentition. Good length of neck leading into well laid shoulders & nice straight front. He has plenty of bone and lovely cat like feet. He is balanced throughout with level top line and tail set. He has plenty of muscle and good rear angulation which enabled him to move with plenty of drive once settled. RBD
2. Grainger & Turner’s Amilone Aramis. Good head, eye and dentition. Good length of neck and shoulders ok. Straight front with lovely bone and feet. Top line & tail set level but can carry his tail slightly high on the move. Well muscled with good rear angulation which allowed him to move out well. Today I just preferred shoulders of 1.

Post Graduate Dog (2, 0abs)
1. Swaine’s Ohanagold Apollo. Good head, eye and dentition. Correct length of neck but slightly too heavy in shoulder for me. Straight front with nice bone and feet. Top line and tail set level although he can fly his tail on occasion when on the move. Well angulated behind with good amount of muscle. Moved well.
2. Copley’s Lalique Lord of the Rings at Hamcar. Good head, eye and dentition. Length of neck and shoulder placement ok. Straight front with good bone and feet. Top line can slope off slightly on occasion when stood. Tail set correct but again has tendency to carry a little high on the move. Rear angulation and muscle good and moved well once settled.

Open Dog (4, 1abs)
1. Swaine’s Kallixel Caramel Delight. Masculine head with correct eye and dentition. Correct length of neck running into well laid shoulders. Straight front with beautiful amount of bone and cat like feet. He is balanced throughout with level top line and tail set, although he has a tendency to stand himself a little long in times. He is well angulated and muscled behind which allowed him to move out effortlessly. He was unlucky to come up against the youngsters today.
2. Copley’s Monchique Imperial Beau at Emmabe JW IR JUN CH. Good head, eye and dentition. Correct length of neck and well laid shoulders. He has good front and correct amount of bone and nice feet. Top line and tail set level but can carry tail slightly high when on the move. Well angulated with good amount of muscle behind and moved out well. Would have preferred him slightly shorter in loin.

Puppy Bitch (4, 1abs)
1. Broadhead’s Strathlon Spirit of Ecstasy. 6month with the most beautiful head and melting expression. Good length of neck into well laid shoulders. Correct front with nice amount of bone and lovely feet. Well balanced with level top line and tail set. Well muscled with nice rear angulation which allowed her to move out well with plenty of drive. BPB
2. Price’s Putjade Pumpkin Spice. 11 months with beautiful head, correct eye and dentition. Good length of neck into well laid shoulders and nice straight front. Good bone, feet and body with level top line and tail set. Well muscled with lovely rear angulation. Moved well.

Junior Bitch (5, 2abs)
1. Price’s Putjade Pumpkin Spice.
2. Taylor & Tenn’s Strettonhill with Passion. Good head, eye and dentition. Good length of neck into well laid shoulders and nice straight front. Lovely bone and cat like feet. Level top line and tail set, good rear angulation and good muscle. Just slightly longer in loin than 1.

Yearling Bitch (3, 0abs)
1. Falconer’s Soneve Simply Special for Siatham JW. Beautiful bitch with good head and lovely expression. Good length of neck into well laid shoulders and straight front. Plenty of bone with good cat like feet and so balanced throughout. Top line and tail set correct with lovely rear angulation and plenty of muscle. Moved out well with good reach and drive. Couldn’t deny her BB & BOB.
2. Healey’s Marsabit Shimmer & Shine. Another beautiful bitch with good length of neck but just preferred shoulders of 1. Good straight front with nice amount of bone and lovely feet. Level top line and tail set with good rear angulation and plenty of muscle. Moved well once settled.

Graduate Bitch (5, 2abs)
1. Rea’s Fenpinque Shooting Star over Osrealin. Beautiful head with good eye and dentition. Nice length of neck into well laid shoulders, straight front and nice feet. Level top line and tail set, good rear angulation and plenty of bone and muscle. Moved well but just slightly longer than I would like.
2. Price’s Palton Quintessential. Correct head, eye and dentition. Good length of neck into ok shoulders but slightly heavier in front than 1. Level top line and tail set with good rear angulation. Moved well.

Post Graduate Bitch (2, 0abs)
1. Price’s Palton Up Up and Away. Beautiful head with correct eye and dentition. Nice length of neck into well laid shoulders and straight front. Good amount of bone and feet ok. Well balanced with good rear angulation & good amount of muscle. Top line and tail set level. Moved well. RBB
2. Rees’ Catenae Darling Buds of May JW. Correct head, eye and dentition. Length of neck ok but slightly too heavy in shoulder today. Straight in front with nice bone and feet. Level top line with correct tail set but would prefer a little less rear angulation. Moved well.

Open Bitch (3, 1abs)
1. Todd’s Toddrosa Oasis Charm. Beautiful head with correct eye and dentition. Nice length of neck into well laid shoulders, straight front and good feet. Level top line and tail set with correct rear angulation and plenty of muscle. Moved well with drive.
2. Rees’ Catenae Darling Buds of May JW.

Show: Mid-Western Gundog Society
Date: 17th October 2021
Breed: Golden Retrievers
Judge: Mr Bob lane

Thank you to the committee and my steward, John, for looking after me today. Although I was not initially listed to judge golden retrievers, I had a very good day at the show. I was asked to judge this entry at the last minute as the allocated judge did not turn up due to the fact she said she was unwell.

Puppy Dog (4 entries, 2 abs)
1st Clunie’s Warrentor Bold As Brass
A 7-month-old mid-gold puppy. He has a lot of enthusiasm, with good angulation fore and aft. Well off for bone and substance, tight feet and shown in good condition. Moving very well, I was pleased to award him Best Puppy in Breed.
2nd Williams’ Eveninghill Detroit Red
Another well angulated dog, close up to first and a little more mature than first. He was shown in good and condition, was well-presented but on the day he did not move quite as well as first.

Junior Dog (6 entries, 3 abs)
1st Wild’s Quakerhall Master Mariner At Bluewaters
This boy presents a good outline standing, with well-laid shoulders and good upper arm. He was shown in excellent coat and moved soundly. Sporting a straight front with good tight feet, he was shown very well.
2nd Williams’ Eveninghill Detroit Red
3rd Calderwood’s Cross My Heart Vom Thumhaus (ATC AY34953AUT)

Yearling Dog (5 entries, 4 abs)
1st Wild’s Quakerhall Master Mariner At Blurewaters

Graduate Dog (3 entries, 1 abs)
1st Williams Eveninghill Detroit Red
2nd Edwards Glanwye Cheating Lights
A 2-year-old dog with a very good head and dark pigmentation. He has well laid shoulders and well bent stifles but he needs to firm up in rear movement.

Post Graduate Dog (2 entries, 0 abs)
1st Price’s Kadaka Crossword For Palton
A nice dog with a pleasing head and expression with correct pigmentation. He is well off for bone and substance, has adequate shoulders and a good return of upper arm. I would prefer a little more muscle tone which would improve his movement but nevertheless a quality dog.
2nd Collis’ Merimoor Outlander At Dorwinion
A well-presented dog shown in good coat and good bend of stifle, well-let down hocks and straight pasterns. He again, is a little too heavy and needs more muscle tone which would improve the dog overall.

Open Dog (2 entries, 1 abs)
1st Wild’s Quakerhall Sea Master By Bluewaters JW
A balanced youngster, with a pleasing head, expression, pigmentation and balanced foreface to skull. He has a good reach of neck, level top-line with correct tail-set. He also has well let-down hocks and moved well. I was pleased to award him Best Dog and Reserve Best of Breed.

Puppy Bitch (6 entries, 2 abs)
1st Falconer’s Soneve Simply Special for Siatham
Two very close bi***es headed this class. The first is a very young, pale bitch who was well made and presented with a pleasing head and outline. She moved well when she settled down but needs a little more time to come to her best.
2nd Culnie’s Warrentor Second to None
This puppy was close to first with the same attributes but again needs a little more time. Standing she is a little “bum” high but this will almost certainly drop as she matures and her stifles improve. She looked very good on the move with good rear extension. She will, no doubt, improve with time.
3rd Ledgar’s Jasrolyn Living The Dream

Junior Bitch (7 entries, 2 abs)
1st May’s Cherrygold Storyteller JW
This bitch has a most pleasing outline. She is extremely well balanced, has well-laid shoulders, adequate upper arm, level top-line and correct tail-set. She has a good width of thigh with strong hocks and straight back pasterns. She moved and showed very well; just a little heavy on the day for me.
2nd Wooden’s Catenae Candyfloss At Salako
Another very nice bitch, with pleasing well-pigmented feminine head, set on a good reach of neck into well laid shoulders. She was very good on the move when she settled, with tight feet and shown in good coat and condition.
3rd Palton’s Peroni

Yearling Bitch (8 entries, 1 abs)
1st Falconer’s Contemporary Beguile Again Via Siatham
This bitch is very well balanced and she presents a pleasing outline that does not disappoint when going over her. She has well laid shoulders, a good top-line and rear angulation balanced with forequarters. She is of correct weight, coat and muscle condition. Pleased to award her BOB and see her win BIS-4.
2nd May’s Cherrygold Storyteller JW
3rd Wooden’s Catenae CandyFloss At Salako

Graduate Bitch (9 entries, 4 abs)
1st May’s Cherrygold Storyteller JW
2nd Rea’s Fenpinque Shooting Star Over Osrealin
A quality bitch with a well-b***d straight front. She has nice substance with a good body, firm level top-line and correct tail-set moving very well.
3rd Price’s Palton Up Up & Away

Post Graduate Bitch (1 entry, 0 abs)
1st Clunie’s Warrentor Caipirinha JW
The only one in this class but this did not detract from her quality. She is a very well-made bitch who was presented beautifully with a pleasing well-feathered tail and good coat. She was shown in lovely body condition and well handled. Reserve BOB.

Open Bitch (3 entries, 1 abs)
1st Turner’s Grain Of Gold’s Arwen Of Amilone (Imp Swe) SGWC
Standing she presents a attractive outline. She has perfectly straight forelegs, a well-sprung rib, level top-line and equally good quarters. She moved a extremely well, particularly for an 8-year-old.
2nd Rees Catenae Darling Buds of May JW
A very pleasing well-chiselled head, straight front, good in top-line. She has very nicely angulated quarters and she moved quite well. I just preferred the movement of first today.
