For anyone interested, the shelter vet is allowing Harper to be available for a foster to adopt.

That means she can go to an adopter but they will have to foster her first through the medical recuperation period.

Why?

She is recovering from the surgery to 2 legs and may need an FHO. The shelter is taking care of her medical needs of course. That will all take about 4-6 weeks and possibly longer if an FHO is needed also. So if you have fallen in love with this girl and her stunning eyes, you do not have to wait to bring her home. A meet and greet and a chat with a medical staff member and foster coordinator will be part of the process.

Contact us if you are interested in getting to know her. She is already somewhere between 25 and 30 lbs so she is going to be a big gorgeous long legged lady.

She is so ready to get back to playing, but she still has to take it easy. So no rough housing with dogs or humans for now. Very short distance leash walks are fine (we do them in the yard). She is very respectful of the dogs in our home. Loves to bask in the sun, but does just as well as a lazy office dog all curled up next to you. She loves eating and treats and is very smart.

She is still a puppy though so expect all the puppy stuff. She has been very good when she is left alone for short periods in the living room and has not chewed on anything that was not meant for her to chew on. She knows which toys and bones are designated as her "chew things". She is working on crate training and potty training and is currently up to date on all age appropriate vaccines.

Harper gets a little break and watch the Olympics with us all.

She is such a good girl but oh so bored. And with the rain there will be little chance getting her to enjoy some outside. Can't get her incisions wet 😢

She is getting along so nicely with the resident dogs. And they know to leave her alone and not get her excited. So far it's working out. But it will be a loooong stretch for this fast growing girl.

This girl is is going stir crazy in a small puppy pen. It is hard for her to move as it is, let alone the fact that she is contained to a small space on purpose so as not to overextend the use of her limbs right now.

She got to do a little sunbathing under supervision. We're going to have to find her something to do, like some puzzles, kongs etc... She has 2-3 more weeks of this and then after that she will still need to take it easy..... Unfortunately a 6 month old is not very "open" to chill. I for one love to chill and not do a thing 🤣 but then I am not a puppy "anymore". 👩‍🦳👵

We have a new "guest" at pups.in.foster straight from the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter. She will be in foster for a while as she heals before the shelter will make her available for adoption.

Her name is Harper and she is a super sweet young lady, probably 6️⃣ months.

She had surgery at the shelter yesterday to repair 2️⃣ 🦴 fractures. Each fracture in a different leg on the same side (front and back). This makes it much harder for her to heal and scoot around to go potty, and eat and drink.

Please send her all the good vibes for her bones to heal well and quickly, so she can get up and do all the running and jumping a young puppy should do at her age.

There are even more puppies there, but for shelter purposes they are considered adults.

There are sooooooo many dogs at the shelter. Please please please share and send anyone that wants to adopt or foster to the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter to help create some much needed space.

Anyone?

Update - Nueces County was our intended destination for providing shelter assistance. However, the hurricane's change of course averted the need for action. We will maintain vigilance in monitoring the situation. We appreciate the community's preparedness to step up had it been necessary to evacuate dogs from that shelter.

🚨🚨🚨 We have been asked to assist a shelter in the path of and will potentially be taking in as many as 25 puppies as early as tomorrow.

WE WILL NEED YOUR HELP.

Fosters and adopters for the dogs already in our care will be the immediate need tomorrow (Sunday, July 7) as we wait to learn what the actual count is.

All dogs are free to adopt through Monday. Fosters will be supported through shared donations, assisting with medical needs, and contacts in cases of emergency.

If you can help, please head to the shelter. We will be open from noon - 6pm and are located at 1855 SE Inner Loop in Georgetown.

Let's work together to help save lives in this moment of greater need in our state.

There are so many puppies at the shelter. There are also 8 that cannot be adopted yet since they are too young.

Ever thought about fostering? How about giving it a try with 2 of these? It will be great fun!

They are 5 weeks old and just need about 3 weeks before they can find a home. They need to be kept safe in a home instead of the shelter.

Tyson and I went on a road trip to a sanctuary today. We took another dog from the shelter and had a very pleasant ride.

I met the littles that Tyson will be sharing an air conditioned cottage with. And they are all his size and so friendly, he will be the youngest one. I hope they all become great friends and they show Tyson the ropes so that maybe one day he can have a home and a family of his own.

I can't wait to find out in a week or two how he's adjusting. He has the freedom to go in and out into their little "yard" as he pleases.

Tyson did leave me with some left over whipped cream that I accidentally spilled all over the kitchen and myself. I made sure everyone at his new place knows how much he loves his whipped cream.

Tyson is slowly coming out of his shell. He doesn't try to escape the pets I give him and happily anticipates meal times and treats. It is going to take months for him to trust but ... Baby steps...

The shelter has found this sweet boy a Rescue/Sanctuary that will take all the time in the world to help him gain trust in humans again on the road to maybe an adoption. But if he never gets there, he will have a place for life. ❤️❤️❤️

So Tyson will be leaving us on Saturday to start a whole new chapter of his life. I will miss him and our daily "hang out". This little boy is definitely growing on me and snuck into a deep little corner of my heart.

He had dinner. Whipped cream, Greek yogurt and chicken baby food with doggie CBD ❤️. Still not able to get other meds in him but CBD will do for now. It may bring his stress level down a bit.

And ... I'm allowed to pet and scratch the top of his head if I move really slow and let him smell my hand first 🎉 At least he doesn't panic run around anymore when I go sit with him.

He now understands I won't invade the space he is occupying at the moment and I will give him plenty of space. If only we could have a "real chat" so he could tell me his story.

Meet Tyson. He's the new guy at Pups.In.Foster. 9.5 lbs and already neutered.

He was a stray and a very scared one. So he's here to work on his skills of trusting that most of us humans are not so bad. He'll likely be here a while.

He's beautiful. But right now he just wants me to go away. 🥲

However, he's already a sucker for all the food I've offered him and likes our choice of treats. That's a big deal because his previous foster says he's picky and we need to hide his meds so he will take them. So baby steps will start with food.

He doesn't yet know that I'm determined that he's going to like me. 😉 Or at least pretend to like me. 🤭

It is really getting dire. The shelter is getting close to that spot nobody wants to be in. And they need 20 dogs AT MINIMUM to be adopted or fostered by end of tomorrow.

If you cannot adopt or foster, please please please share their post. They really need the help of everyone. They haven't euthanized for space in over a decade. But they are more than 200% over capacity. 20 adoptions or fosters will merely give them what they need to not have to do anything drastic (for now).

Want to foster? The shelter has crates fosters can borrow.

We have 278 dogs in the shelter today.

Our shelter believes each dog deserves the chance at happiness in their one life. We are not a shelter that uses euthanasia as a tool for creating space at the shelter. If you believe this too - this is our plea to you.

Each of the dogs pictured here is a wonderful companion. Each of the dogs pictured here deserves a life outside of the shelter where they are loved and cherished in the same way they will love and cherish you in return. And each of the dogs pictured here is free to adopt.

These 3 puppies are at the overcrowded Williamson County Regional Animal shelter. They can go home with their new family immediately. Please share them. The shelter is no place for puppies, especially with all the overcrowding.

This is potentially a recall that could affect those in Texas. Please check if you use Pedigree dry food for your "kiddos".

What was recalled?
The affected 44lb bags of Pedigree Adult Complete Nutrition Grilled Steak & Vegetable Flavor Dry Dog Food have a Lot Code 410B2TXT02 and a Best By Date of March 4, 2025. You can find this information on the back of the bag near the base, next to the bar code.

It’s a limited voluntary recall affecting 315 bags of product that were sold by Walmart in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas.

The presence of loose metal parts in dog food could pose a potential choking threat to dogs, as well as causing internal damage if swallowed, and damage to teeth if chewed. Mars Petcare U.S. did not specify what type of metal it was, nor how it got into the bags of food.

Marvelous Ms. Macy will be adoptable soon.

Unless the shelter has a special at the time of adoption, her adoption fee will be $75. That includes, spay, age appropriate vaccines, microchip registered to the new owner, a well visit voucher for a visit with a participating vet.

Due to the injury to her nose, there will be a medical waiver to sign. So the adoption will likely have to take place on site at the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter.

Marvelous Ms. Macy is doing great. She is a real trooper about taking all her medication.

She is a doll, and a very quiet one (so far 😉). She has been very friendly to the humans and dogs in the home and seeks out pets and company.

She goes on walks with the pack, has enjoyed the yard, and has found her favorite dog beds in the house.

She is getting spay and lip surgery on Monday. There is not much that can be done about her nose except wait and with time the wound will heal. But ... she will always be beautiful on the inside and that's what counts!

We expect she will be available sooner than later.

Here is the revealing shelter post.

Marvelous Ms Macy will need some stitches in the next few days, and new skin will eventually close over the wound but her nose will never look like other dogs' noses. Her sniffing super powers are still working perfectly!

Not sure when she will be available for adoption yet, but it's not a life threatening injury, so it won't be long.

Interested parties do need to realize they will have to sign a medical waiver with her adoption. Message us if interested.

She is behaving like any other young dog and can still smell all the smells. She is a 10 month old sweetheart.

Today I made a visit to the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter to return all the left over medication and the nebulizer we had for Willow.

I was overwhelmed to receive a beautiful dainty bouquet and card with some heartfelt messages from the staff. I will admit that a few tears were shed.

The shelter is extremely full and the staff and volunteers are working beyond hard and outside of their own job descriptions to still make time to think about others and the pets in their care.

It's Animal Welfare Appreciation week this week. And I appreciate the WCRAS shelter and staff so much! Please consider volunteering, fostering, donating, or simply saying a few kind words to someone out there that deserves to know that we know they're making a difference!
