HOUSTON, TX: *Please Share!*13 year old Sky is an all around family guy. He is loyal, playful and loves everyone. Until this past year, Sky was with his former family for his entire life. Unfortunately, his parents separated, then his dad became ill and moved into an assisted living facility, and Sky was left home alone until he was rescued. Sky's main needs are making sure he gets his two medications a day and stays on his prescription food diet. Overall, Sky and his needs are fairly simple. What he really needs most is love! RED Collar Rescue wrote, "We rescued Sky from a local Texas shelter in 2008, and he was adopted soon after into a loving home where he lived for 13 years! In 2021, his world fell apart! His parents separated, his mom moved out of state, and Sky stayed with his dad. Sadly, his dad became seriously ill and moved into an assisted living facility. Sky was left living 'home alone.' Luckily we found out, and got him back into our program.

Sky is 35 lbs, and a sweet and friendly guy! He gets along with everyone he meets, both humans and canines. Sky is a gentleman with very good manners. He loves to go on walks, snuggle on the couch, and get yummy treats. He lives with a young foster pup and loves to play too! Sky's love is contagious with his charming personality, deep brown soulful eyes, and sweet kisses. Sky would be fine with children, probably 12 and older who have lived with a dog before. He is gentle and sweet, just wanting to make sure any children would respect him as he ages.

Sky has a condition known as gallbladder mucocele which is life-threatening if not treated, and can require surgical removal of the gallbladder. Sky recently had another check-up and the great news is he is reacting very positively to the medicines and special diet, and his vet has decided that at this time surgery is not necessary! Sky just takes 2 medicines a day and eats a prescription low-fat food. Sky has had a full checkup including vaccines, bloodwork, dental, etc., and was deemed otherwise healthy.

We use a transport company that goes from Houston, TX to the Northeast, but getting Sky to other parts of the US might be hard, unless the adopter comes to Houston."

**EDIT: ADOPTED!!** AUSTIN, TX: Riley is beautiful and has impeccable manners. Her former owner was a trainer; Riley was greatly loved and well trained. Sadly, due to personal reasons, the owner could no longer keep Riley. Riley has been up for adoption for several months and we’re surprised she hasn’t been scooped up by a lucky family sooner. She’s a real catch! PLEASE SHARE!
New Hope Animal Rescue wrote, "Riley is a 13.5 year old, 50 pound Shepherd mix. Riley was very loved by her former owner who was a trainer so she has good manners. She has been with us since September 19.

Riley has a pep in her step despite having only three legs and has a zest for life. She loves leisurely walks in a shady park and some R&R sofa snuggle time with her favorite humans afterwards. Riley might be an older gal, but her looks have never faded! Her coat is beautiful and her eyes are bright and soulful. She doesn’t require much, just love, a soft spot to rest and a full tummy. She will give back so much, all she really wants is a gentle, kind human connection. She’s well behaved, house trained and is great on a leash.

Riley is low key so she isn’t so much for loud noises or big energy but she is tolerant and sweet with children and is fostered with other dogs she gets along with well. Riley was raised with her sister kitty so she is ok with cats.

Riley came to us with a huge mass in her armpit area that continued to grow at an alarming rate. We had to amputate her leg to make sure all of it was removed so she is a recent tripod but is adjusting very quickly. She also had a dental done and several extractions with gum repair. Another hole in her gums was discovered so she is having another procedure January 26th.

We require all pets in the home to be spayed and neutered and current on vaccines and prevention. We have an adoption application and will verify references including a vet reference. We are a small rescue so we don’t adopt out of Texas at this time. Adopters need to be willing to pick her up but we can do our required home check visit over FaceTime or zoom.”

Did someone say husky? Meet Eladia! She's gorgeous and young, and like most huskies pretty aloof, and doesn't have time for your nonsense. Trying to get Eladia's attention is a challenge; she is far too busy inspecting her surroundings. Huskies are one of the breeds we see a lot of at the shelter. Why? Because Huskies are wanderers and escape artists! Want a husky? Better build a high fence, a make sure if goes pretty deep into the ground = huskies are also diggers. But happy? YES! Eladia is happy, happy, happy with lots of energy. She allows for handling, if you can catch her, but doesn't seem to know any commands. Looking for an independent, feisty friend? Meet Eladia!
