Conformation plays a major role in the shape of the hoof, example toed in horses will usually flare medial, ( they will grow higher on the inside) leaving them higher will increase the winging out movement of the leg.
toed out will do the same, only on the opposite side flaring laterally, increasing the risk of interference.

Each day the horse grows out of balance!!
regularly trimming cycles is vital in keeping your horse sound.

we get great satisfaction when you get good results for the hard work we put in! this mare is quite off set in the carpus combined with toe in conformation. we started her when she was lame with a collateral ligament Desmitis.
standing at your horses shoulder looking over the foot, at 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock you will find the location of the collateral ligaments of the P3.

Was asked why the hind feet on horses tend to flare on the lateral side ( outside) This is because the hind limbs are attached to the skeleton at the sacroiliac, it loads slightly medial, which causes a slight upright medial wall and slightly flared lateral! certain conformation also effects this
example valgus ( cow hocked) horses also tend to flare laterally

wet hooves become significantly weaker losing tensile strength, over dressing the dorsal walls has a similar effect, removing tubular wall, exposing the inter- tubular wall structure.
