Waffles got some spa time today! I ended up giving him a haircut to get some of that bulky hair off his neck. He turned out looking a bit bowl-cut-esque since his hair is so thick, but he still looks super cute. I absolutely love his color!

I had the pleasure of clipping Nova the other night. It was her first clip and it was pouring down rain the entire time as well. She was a good sport and let me get everything but her ears. We settled for blending what we could and cleaning up the long hairs around her face since she tolerated that. She’s going to look spiffy headed into the show ring!

Please ensure your horse(s) are CLEAN 🧼 and DRY before they are clipped- Trust me, you will thank me later 💁🏻‍♀️
A good Bath 🛁 is preferable with extra scrubbing to lift up all that grease from your horses coats.
Whilst we all don’t have access to hot water on tap, we can all bring a flask of hot water 💦for a good hot cloth!
Alternatively, you can give your horse an extremely good groom for a minimum of 30 minutes- a good bit of old fashioned elbow grease 💪🏻 is required!!

Please ensure your horses are also free of;
🔹Coat conditioners/ sprays
🔹Pre clip oils
🔹Any product on the coat.

Recently I’ve seen many adverts claiming all the above will improve the quality of your clip- when they infact DAMAGE your clippers‼️

Clean horses, correct knowledge and lots of practice produce great results-not quick fixes. It really is that simple 🙌🏻
Don’t be conned‼️

Just to note, I charge a “dirty horse” fee and I will refuse ❌ to clip ANY horse that I deem too dirty and horses covered in products.
I don’t want to damage any of my expensive equipment, produce below par clips and most importantly upset your horse and give them a bad experience.

Yesterday I was honored to clip several horses for the Austin Mounted Patrol. Lucky, Billy, and Zodiac all have cushings and needed to lose some hair so they could handle the heat. Zodiac, the grey, was headed out to 6th Street last night so I made sure he had a sweet hairdo for a night on the town 😉
