Courtesy post for a family needing to rehome their dog, please share!:
Please meet Addy Susan. Addy is a sweet, KONG loving, wonderful pup. There aren’t enough
kisses in the world for Addy to give you. I’ve had the pleasure of being her dad for almost 3
years. She’s as close to a perfect pup as you can get.
Multiple recent moves, and an increasingly unpredictable job/schedule for me and my partner,
have paid their toll on our sweet girl, and as a result, her confidence being home alone has
regressed pretty substantially.
I know there is a path to improvement (confirmed by a specialist), but we don& #39;t have the time we
need to help her consistently, getting her fully adjusted and giving our sweet anxious girl the
happiest life possible. Prior to this last move, she had been able to be home, alone, in her crate
for 7 hours.
Based on the work I’ve done with Addy, and what recent trainers have said, she just needs
more consistency, a more predictable schedule structure and it’d help to have another (small to
medium sized) dog to help lead the way. Addy is super smart, incredible around kids / babies,
treat / food motivated, does well keeping herself busy with chew toys and loves playing with
dogs her size or smaller (she’s about 35 pounds). She is gentle with all living things and almost
never barks. She’s most content being curled up on the couch with her people or lying in the
grass outside. She sleeps in her crate happily each night (but would also love to snuggle with
you).
The ideal situation for Addy would be a home with some outside space so she can run, play and
lay in the sun - with a family, another pup, people around for more consistency, predictable
routines and the time / resources to dedicate to training to get her confidence back up. Coming
to terms with the above weighs heavily on us, but we know it’s the right thing for her. We want to
find the perfect home that will love her the way she deserves, get her back to being the
independent pup that she has been in the past and invest the time to do so.
