It is with sad, yet peace filled hearts that we announce the closing of Rebellion Dog Rescue.

We started in 2019 with a goal of helping to break the shelter dog stereotype, by taking in the dogs who were the closest to being euthanized, and hoping to show how great a shelter dog can truly be when they are given the time and love they deserve. We helped save many, and for that we are proud. Though we were small, we hope we left a footprint in the rescue space and were honored to help the dogs we could take in.

We are a small team of 3, and with the state of the animal world right now, it began to heavily take a toll on our mental health while we ran the rescue in our “free” time, amidst other jobs & parenting, because we felt called to it. We knew it was time to close this chapter and move forward. We found another incredible rescue who have taken in our dogs and will find their forever homes and are so grateful for them. We hope you’ll give a follow, and if you need a place to give a year end donation..we hope you consider them. They do incredible work for the local community.

We are so thankful for the support since we began. It is because of that support from each of you- donors, adopters, fellow rescuers, partners, fosters, and the community that supported us, that we were able to do the work we did. A very sincere thank you to every single one of our monthly donors who supported us and anyone who contributed to us financially over the years. We appreciate you all more than words!

Sigh. Here’s the reality, friends. We are coming up on a year soon of Jet being with us in the rescue. 😭

It’s been crickets. There’s been seemingly no interest. How much longer is he going to be with us until someone finally wants to adopt him??? Where is his forever family? We won’t lie and say it’s easy to keep doing this day after day. We are trying so hard to advocate for the dogs who need it, but if we can’t adopt out the dogs we have, how can we continue to help the animal population as a whole? Our hands are tied as funds are extremely limited and we just simply can not help our shelter partners who are struggling with the influx of dogs in their care. Please, please share him far and wide and help us find him a home.

🚨 FUNDS NEEDED 🚨

It’s that time of year! Jet and Capone are in need of some vet visits soon. A perk of adopting from Rebellion is a fully vetted and vaccinated dog! But vaccines and general care are not cheap! Vets these days are also less likely to give rescue discounts due to demand. A basic annual visit with the required vaccinations runs anywhere from $150 - $350 depending on exactly what is needed. We are currently paying for food, boarding cost, vet visits, and general care for these boys so we need your help. Even $1 will be so greatly appreciated. Our team does not get paid. Every cent donated goes to the care of the dogs. Have inflation woes and can’t donate? Share this post and help get these boys covered.

Alright friends, the fireworks will be rampant over the next few days (and weeks probably… 🫠) and we want to make sure your dogs stay safe. The most important thing you can do for them as a pet owner is keep them INSIDE. You never know how a dog will react to a loud noise they don’t know is coming (very different from storms). Even having your pup in the backyard isn’t safe- they can easily run, escape and hide to get away from the noises when they are scared. Create a safe space for them in your house to be during the fireworks…Please🙏🙏🙏

So listen, we haven't gotten a SINGLE application for Tim and he's been with us since December. DECEMBER!!!!! This is wild. There are so many dogs in the world right now that need a home, but let me tell you why this dude is the right one for you:

-He's about 3ish years old. So he's NOT a puppy but is kinda like a 21 year old: Opinionated, still learning but at least you can trust him home alone 🤷
-He just wants a couch to lay on, somewhere cozy to snooze- he isn't picky.
-He'd be content with another pup his size, or content without too
-He is really healthy + UTD on all vaxx and prevention

But we know a picture and a social media post isn't going to sell you, clearly - so submit an application for him and let's get a meet & greet set up!

It may take some time for him to fall in love with you because this boy has been through a lot in his short life...but once he does...BAM! You have a new bestie for life.

Our boy Tim has recently developed a new quirk of getting over stimulated when meeting new people. This is a problem since meeting new people is kind of a crucial step in finding his forever home.

Enter and ! The Rescue League offers free training for rescue dogs to help them get adopted. This is such a huge need in rescue, particularly in our mission as often, the dogs we pull from shelters are overlooked because of behavioral issues. In our first session, Jake earned Tim’s trust and brought out the best parts of his personality. So excited to continue working with him to prepare Tim for his forever home!

We strive to always be transparent, so here goes: we can not take in any more dogs for the foreseeable future due to the overall costs it takes to care for each dog and the limited donations we have coming in consistently.

We have not had a single application for the 3 boys in our care. It’s been absolutely crickets. But the bills do not stop.

To give you a better picture of what this looks likes for us weekly, here is a quick breakdown.

We currently spend $600 a week for boarding. Beginning next week, that will double. Gulp. Monthly preventatives for heartworm, fleas, ticks…Vet visits that on the low end cost us about $100, but usually exceed that amount greatly. A variety of things can and do pop up frequently when having dogs in our care this long and we are committed to making sure our dogs are seen ASAP regardless of the cost. Hot spots, injuries, allergies, cuts, skin issues. You name it. And then throw in the usual maintenance items that are non-negotiable: Food, treats, bones, supplements, medication, enrichment toys and activities to keep their minds and bodies busy while they are in a kennel.

As you can see, these costs are JUST associated with each dog’s care. We aren’t even talking about the regular business costs that come whether we like it or not. 😅

It pains us to even say it out loud that we are on hold from taking in anymore dogs for the foreseeable future. We NEED to get these boys into their forever homes. A boarding facility is not a long term solution for any dog. They need the consistency of a real home.

So…how can you help?
•DONATE! It is truly so easy. Monthly donations are so helpful, but even a one time donation helps us GREATLY.
•ADOPT! If you have the ability, please take in one of our dogs and give them their forever homes. They are all such good dogs that just need a patient, loving forever home.
•SHARE! If you can’t donate or adopt right now, please share our posts and get the word out about our boys so we can find their forever homes.

She has an auto immune disorder that made her less adoptable where she spent a long time with us, but her medical condition hasn’t let that stop her from living life one bit! She has her forever home now and wants to let everyone know these boys deserve their happy second chapter, too. Hi everyone, Capone here. 😏

You thought you’d be hearing the last of me, huh? Well turns out I’m back up for adoption! Yes, I know, I know. “What the heck, Capone?!” is probably what you’re thinking.

So I finally had a family to call my own. They are and will always be the BEST and I miss them so, but at the end of the day, much to everyone’s dismay- me and my canine brother just weren’t a match made in Heaven. 😢 So because of that, I need a home where I’ll be the only dog taking up all the room in your heart (& bed while covering it with teeny tiny little hairs).

I’m spunky, but lazy.
I’m quirky, yet serious.
I am fine with kiddos, I love ‘em.- but no cats. Really..no cats…I just ain’t a fan 😏
I have 2 brand new knees as of last summer. I powered through that surgery like a big ole champ!
Neutered, UTD on vaxx, yada yada.

HELLOOOO Rebellion crew!!!

I’m Katelin! Owner of and lover of all the Rebellion dogs.

Rebellion Dog Rescue is allowing me to do a little April takeover so you might be seeing my face pop up on some stories and posts.

Happy 🐾 We have gotten so many messages asking how Tim is doing and whether or not we’ve received any adoption applications. Sadly, we haven’t received one yet. We know this boy will need just the right home and that his family is out there somewhere…but we can’t believe how long this boy has been waiting 😢

🐾Tim is a 3 year old pit mix who is always down for a good time. This handsome boy spent 5 months in the shelter and was just 24 hours away from being euthanized when we pulled him!

🐾He is a medium energy level dog, would be great for a hike, followed by cuddles on the couch.

🐾He loves to give hugs and hang with the humans….well, adult humans. He’s not a fan of small children.

🐾While he likes to explore, he is very cautious of new environments, but with some consistency and confidence building, should settle in nicely. He has very good house manners, not one to counter surf.

🐾He would be great as an only dog or potentially with another dog. Dominant males or big personalities are probably not the best fit. But a playful, low key sibling could be fun for him. He occasionally has some resource guarding tendencies around other dogs, but they are not severe and could be worked out through some intentional work and training.

🐾He has not been cat tested.

🐾He is neutered and UTD on all vaccines, including flu.

In case you didn’t know, offers a spay/neuter program for anyone living in Rutherford Co.! Why is this such a big deal??? Because it actually HELPS. The amount of emails we get from people needing to offload a litter of puppies because their dog accidentally got pregnant is…well, a lot. It’s heartbreaking. Every shelter is full. Every rescue is drowning. Taking on a littler of puppies is not an easy task. Please do your part. Spay & neuter your pets.
