We grow a lot of edibles around here but we also love flowers of all shapes and sizes but our favorite flowers are the ones that come back And multiply. This means we cannot only plant them once and enjoy them for years but can also divide and transplant later. Our local Atwoods had a sale and we jumped at it scoring 8 bags of crocus bulbs for about $25. At 12 per bag we planted a whopping 96 bulbs today! Can't wait to see them bloom ❤️

Hard to see but we got 7 little TAMUK kits in this nest box born just moments ago 🥰 fingers crossed this first time mom does good and hopefully pulls more fur given how cold the nights have been.

At the heart of most good homesteads there is a dog. Obby is our newest pack member and she is so smart. Less than two months here and she knows that tray is for the babies Even when we aren't in the room.

With a freeze in this week's forecast we are pulling and prepping what we can. Our oregano has been with us in ground for 3 years now and makes it through the winter like a champ but she also dies down to the dirt so leaving all the growth is a waste. With the dehydrator stuffed to the brim with apple mint it's on with the oven. If anyone close by has an overabundance of Rosemary we would love to trade 😊

With the first freeze fast approaching we have a lot to pull from the garden that we have been pushing the line hoping to get good seeds and a little extra out of. For the next handful of days the dehydrator will be earning it's keep. Photo below is a load of Roselle hibiscus.

So a while back we made elderberry port and it has been hanging out in a cabinet for most of year. Displeased with the clarity I purchased a 2 part clearing kit and I was so pleased 😁 she is a beautiful clear color and ready to be bottled up for yule. So happy 😁

As an ADHD woman who is constantly cold 🥶 these fall cold snaps have me scrambling to find things to can or cook. 🤣 Any reason to turn the oven on is a good reason. Today we pulled out a project we had started in spring and forgot about in the garden rush, Mugolio or pinecone syrup 🌲🌲 my boys spent weeks gathering tiny pinecones until we had a jar full. We then covered them with sugar and stuck them aside to ferment and well here we are in October. Heated everything up and strained out the pinecones. This weekend we are definitely having pancakes 🥞🥞

Oh! What a day! 😄 Filled 2 more garden beds, planted 160+ cloves 🧄 of garlic, canned 2 bags of potatoes 🥔 and made 5 quarts of bone broth 🦴. Cool days are the best for cooking 😁
