Canterbury Tails Boston Terriers is located in central northern Florida. We are a small breeder of AKC Health tested Boston Terriers of both color and Standard colors. All of our dogs are part of our family and enjoy a spoiled life in our home. We encourage all new owners to come visit with our dogs and puppies in our home. ically are pretty quiet. They do have a high energy threshold and need to have lots of love and exercise.Our Bostons are from small 11.5 pounds to medium sized, We will offer puppies when available. The breed is prone to Juvenile Hereditary Cataracts, Patellar Luxation, Heart Murmurs, Blindness, and Deafness. We do JHC testing, BAER, CERF, Patella and cardiac. Since we have waiting lists we encourage anyone interested in asking to be put on our waiting list please ask. Fill out a puppy application and set up an interview. Our puppies are placed with a limited registration with few exceptions.

BAER testing, also known as Brainstem Auditory Evoked Response testing, is a procedure used to assess hearing function, particularly in individuals who may not be able to participate in traditional behavioral hearing tests. It measures the brain's electrical activity in response to auditory stimuli, helping to diagnose hearing loss and assess the integrity of the auditory pathways. The test is commonly used for newborns, young children, and animals, especially dogs, to detect deafness. How it works:
Electrodes:
Small electrodes are placed on the scalp (and sometimes earlobes) to detect the brain's electrical activity.
Auditory Stimuli:
Sounds, usually clicks or tones, are delivered through earphones or insert earphones.
Brainwave Recording:
The electrodes record the brain's response to these sounds, and the data is analyzed to identify patterns associated with hearing.
Interpretation:
The analysis helps determine if there is hearing loss and, if so, whether it's conductive (problems with sound transmission) or sensorineural (problems with the inner ear or auditory nerve).

Occasionally we have an adult who is being retired and needs a family home. This may include a retired Male or Female and will typically be between the ages of 1-3 years old. All of our retired adults have undergone the same extensive health testing that we preform on every puppy. They are micro-chipped, up to date on shots and will be spayed or neutered. Our re-homing fees are substantially less than one of our puppies. Ask about availability. Thank you for visiting us!
