10 years ago today Lady became my dog. Lady was my first dog of my very own. I couldn’t begin to thank Lady enough, knowing where this path we started on together has brought me. I never anticipated all that she would teach me as she helped kickstart the next big chapter of my life.
When I adopted Lady, I just wanted a dog. Someone to be my buddy and go on adventures with. I am sad to say that in the first year I really underestimated her. I had gotten a puppy 5 months after and poured all of my energy into his training because, well, Lady was already 10 years old, and she was well behaved. She didn’t “need” training. But the following year I purchased a pass for unlimited classes at a training club, so on a whim I decided to try one with her since it was essentially free, and I’m so glad I did because I discovered that nothing can truly build the bond with your dog in the way that training can. I began to know Lady on another level, and we truly became a team.
10 years later I am blessed to work full time training dogs. Living with 3 dogs with anxiety has made me appreciate Lady’s confidence and temperament more than I ever did when she was around. I was so blessed to have an easy going, forgiving dog with strong communication skills and I really didn’t even know how lucky I was at the time.
Here are some of my favorite photos of Lady in honor of this special day. My life is pretty much all dogs all the time these days and she’s the one who started it all. So here’s to Lady, aka Ladybug, Bug, Lady Lou, Little Lady, Princess Lady RN RATN CGC NTD CL1-F CL1-H. Sending all my love to you today best girl, wherever you are in the universe. 💖 From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
